I got this book hoping for some insights into selling on e-bay, it delivered. Jim Heid and Toby Malina have put together a great book that covers every question I could think of and identified several gotcha's that I hadn't considered. It is fully informative and extraordinarily complete and a must buy book for anyone looking to sell, or buy, on eBay. It is well written, stunningly informative, and a fun read.

Straight and to the point.......2006-07-27
Most texts I've read on Accounting (from my father's extensive library) are long on explanation and short on worked examples. The Schaum series on Accounting is just the opposite. No need to wade through a ton of explanation. A short explanation is followed by worked examples and numerous test questions followed by the answers, fully worked. I'm just starting out in accounting, and sometimes the concepts didn't really gel with me. But by doing the test questions, and in particular being able to check the results and supplied workings, I found that I learnt the principles much more quickly than I would have otherwise, and was able to retain the understanding.
I borrowed this book from my local library, but then I decided it was a perfect reference book to own.
And I bought almost the entire set of the Schaum's accounting series on the strength of my experience with this learning approach.
An excellent book - an excellent series.
Well Organized Material.......2005-11-23
Schaum's Financial Accounting is a well-written book which augmented my accounting studies.
I especially like the way the table of content is organized. The first three chapters provide an introduction to financial accounting, financial statements and the process of analyzing and recording transactions.
The next three chapters spend time on adjusting and closing entries and then on trial balance worksheets (both for service-oriented and merchandise-oriented businesses). This sets the stage for examining all major aspects of the balance sheet, which chapters 7 through 12 cover.
Following Schaums Outlines typical format, this book presents material in an easy-to-understand manner and then offers the reader with opportunities to solidify their understanding of course material through "Solved Problems" and chapter-end questions.
Shim and Siegel do a fine job of keeping material concise while discussing all major topical points.
They conclude their book with chapters covering partnerships, financial statement analysis, statement of cash flows and multinational operations.
This book merits a 3 1/2 star rating. You might consider Schaums Principles of Accounting I and II for a more thorough examination of the same topical material. However, if you wish to buy just "one book" to augment your studies, "Financial Management" would be a fine choice.
Schaum's Financial Accounting 2 Ed. .......2005-10-14
I am an accounting student. I love this book! I have bought all the Schaum's books related to Accounting. If I had to choose just one book, it would be this one. I get lost trying to follow our textbook. I open this puppy up and it has everything. I'm able to follow the explanations and examples without any problem. Trust me! You will not be disappointed. I was very impressed by how fast my books got to me. I had books coming to me within 2 days. In less than one week's time, I had all 7 books. It really is worth it. :-)

I bought this book to complement a senior level financial accounting course that I took. The book is concise, provides plenty of examples, and helps to solidify theories & actual practices of financial accounting. There are plenty of exercises to go through to help solidify your practical understanding of the material. I found that it was particulary useful to help me review & brush up before my tests in my financial accounting course. Overall a good investment.

The main argument of this book is that cell signalling via nerves, hormones, local mediators and growth factors are not distinct phenomena, but branches of one general mechanism and should therefore be studied in an integrated manner. This volume is designed to act as a bridge between general texts and is aimed at biologists coming to the topic from a variety of backgrounds. The first two chapters introduce the general concepts of intracellular signalling and also cover the topic of direct cell-to-cell communication by cytoplasmic bridges (gap junctions). The remaining chapters cover the first and second messengers, starting with their structure, synthesis and release, progressing to the target cell and then working from the membrane inwards towards the nucleus. There is also a section on the mechanism of nervous conduction and the regulation of the ionic balace of cells. The final chapters discuss the regulation of cell growth and division and the special case of messengers acting via nuclear receptors.

I picked this up on a whim, intrigued by the title. Suffice to say that the first two Vincent Rubio books are now high on the queue. The thing is, even taking away the hilarious and bizarrely plausible dinosaur aspects, this is a terrific, tightly-plotted con-game novel.
Mammals, Beware!.......2004-04-08
In case you haven't heard, Eric Garcia has created his own literary genre--the dinosaur detective novel. In fact he's created his own world--a world in which dinosaurs are not extinct, but coexist uneasily among us, cleverly disguised as humans. This would be hard for most authors to pull off, but Garcia does it skillfully, with zest and humor.
Vincent Rubio is the hard-boiled, fast-talking, marginally successful private investigator (and secret velociraptor)--well known to previous Rex readers--who gets himself in the middle of a war between two Mafia families (yes dinosaurs have their own Mafia). Will he be able to extricate himself? alive? What about his childhood best friend who turns out to be a mafia boss? What about his old girlfriend? And who is the secret informer? Well, things get complicated indeed and you will just have to read the book to find out what happens.
Author Eric Garcia has taken this improbable dinosaur concept and turned it into three entertaining novels. He writes with flair and gusto, with snappy urban slang, and strangely believable characters. Of course he doesn't have much respect for us "mammals," but hey--it's fiction--isn't it? Hot and Sweaty is a little darker, more violent than the previous Rex books. Still, it's fun to read, and I recommend it.

I'm a big fan of the Rex series so I had to get this book as soon as it came out and I read it in about a day and a half. This one is darker than the other Rex books but just as funny CANT WAIT FOR THE TV SHOW!!!

This book picks up where "Casual Rex" and "Anonymous Rex" left off; Vincent Rubio - the dinosaur detective - is now off the herbs and looking for action. He does NOT expect to end up working for the enemy . . .
Fans of Eric Garcia and the Dinosaur Mafia already know what to expect. Those who don't - in this world, dinosaurs are NOT extinct, but have adapted to live among us - unseen due to the use of disguises, girdles and lots of glue. What is amazing is that while you are reading the book, you just go with it because Garcia has created this world SO convincingly. Not to be missed by anyone who enjoys darkly funny noir.
Dark but fun.......2006-12-03
Dark and mystery, twisted and humor. A velociraptor PI who winded up working for a family for Raptor mafia whose HQ in LA. And got dragged along with the mafia's head leader plot against another family of Hadrosaur. Twists in the plot, back-stabbing, betrayal, torture, and bloods. But it is still a good book, for humans or dinos in disguised ;)

This was the grittiest of the three "Rex" books and just as enjoyable as the previous two. Possibly moreso as the humor seemed less forced at times. This was a hard-edged story laced with humor, whereas the first two books (especially "Casual Rex") seemed the other way around.
