Can you say it took 2 months to get the book? BAD DEAL!.......2006-11-10

I am new to using this amazon but I may not use it again. I use ebay where I have a great rating, but I ordered this book in august, and thy just shipped it, my class is over I want a refund, I bought the book elsewhere, but its impossible to get any help here. I'd suggest going to ebay and buying it from a respected seller there, even if its a few dollars more.

One of the best introductions to this subject.......2003-12-24

This book is one of the best introductions to an area that grows in complexity.

It explains the various types of equities and how they are used. It covers the mathematical aspect of equities that even a non-mathematician would find absorbing, although and I hate to say this, mathematical purists would not find it rigourous enough.

This book goes a long way to demystifying an increasingly important part of world finance.

A good read for both investors and laymen alike.

Capital Markets.......2003-12-11

An extremely clearly written introduction to financial markets. I learned a lot. I recommend reading this before tackling something like John Hull's book on derivatives. It would be very useful for people joining an investment bank or for college/MBA students interested in finance.

Very Good Book on Capital Markets eBook format SUCKS!!!.......2003-10-25

I'm referring to the eBook version of this book. Be careful when buying the eBook. It uses a special Adobe Reader that you have to download first. When I first tried it, it told me several times the downloaded file is corrupted. I finally manually saved the executable and ran it. It loaded but I have to sign in MSN .Net passport... total of four sign in's to different sites (amazon acct, yahoo passwd, ...) !@#$%. Finally after 1.5 hrs of trying this and that mostly spent on downloading adobe, it slowly loaded something which I guess is the ebook. Adobe opened it, I saw the title of the book and the table of contents. The rest of the book is unreadable. I tried printing. It will only let me print 17 bad pages and my printer icon for this ebook is GRAYED OUT FOREVER!!! I went to the adobe website and there is no information on printing hardcopies, apparently, the version I downloaded is ONLY capable of sending info to handheld devices. Since I don't have one of those nifty devices... !@#$

I wouldn't pay any money on eBooks if this is how they will structure the sell. It didn't use to be this way. It used to be priced $2.99 - $5.99 and you can open easily and print any part of the book. Since I didn't want to carry a heavy book due to back problems, I shelled out the money to try this. Never again!

Capital Markets.......2003-07-19

This is an excellent comprehensive introduction to capital markets. It is very clearly written with a lot of practical examples and case studies. I particularly like the fact that the book covers a wide range of debt and equity cash and derivative products. It is less mathematical than a book like Hull and a very good complement to it.

Disregard my "star" rating. I was required to put it in to post the review, but as you will discover below, I have no basis for the star rating.

I got this book when attempting to research United States declaratory judgment law. Unfortunately for me, the book is primarily related to English law, so I did not read it in depth. From my brief review of the book, it contains a seemingly thorough overview of English declaratory judgment law. The book contains little to no discussion of United States declaratory judgment law.

Initially proposed as rivals of classical logic, alternative logics have become increasingly important in sciences such as quantum physics, computer science, and artificial intelligence. The contributions collected in this volume address and explore the question whether the usage of logic in the sciences, especially in modern physics, requires a deviation from classical mathematical logic. The articles in the first part of the book set the scene by describing the context and the dilemma when applying logic in science. In part II the authors offer several logics that deviate in different ways from classical logics. The twelve papers in part III investigate in detail specific aspects such as quantum logic, quantum computation, computer-science considerations, praxic logic, and quantum probability. Most of the contributions are revised and partially extended versions of papers presented at a conference of the same title of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences held at the Internationales Forschungszentrum Salzburg in May 1999. Others have been added to complete the picture of recent research in alternative logics as they have been developed for applications in the sciences.

If someone didn't think this book was funny.....there is really something wrong with them!!! Laughed through the whole book, actually the audio tape of book. Didn't want to get out of the car sometimes.....a little like "all things considered" on NPR. What is not funny in this Fore! Play....I don't know? Read it, listen to it...whatever....IT'S GREAT! P.S. I am not a golfer...it doesn't even matter!

Yes .. the last time I laughed so much was when I read PG Wodehouse. There are pockets of humor in the book, waiting to explode on you. I read the book on NYC subway and had a hard time avoiding laughing out loud !

I'm sorry, but am I slow? I found no memorable lines or sections that could even remotely categorize this book as laugh-out-loud funny or even giggle, ha-ha humorous. This book went absoultely nowhere, and frankly I could only make it 100 pages in before I had had enough. As a golfing male, I could relate to the experiences of Mr. Geist, but I just didn't see the humor in anything. Although fiction, read Rick Reilly's Missing Links or Dan Jenkins' Dead Solid Perfect for an understanding of what true hackers are like.

Bought this book for my husband (an avid golfer) to read on a plane trip. He was lauhing so hard he was crying and passed it over to me -a nongolfer! I started to read it and I too was in tears! Bill Geist captures the everyday obsurdities of the game and serves them up in a hilarious fashion. Golfer and nongolers alike will be unable to resits the urge to laugh out loud! A funny quick read.

No, not really, but it's hilarious enough to make you stop caring, at least a little. If you hate golf, buy it. If you love golf, buy it. Either way, you'll laugh till it hurts. Where can I get the high-performance golf socks?
