OK, not so bad.......2007-06-18
Have read first 10 chapters to repeat basics of bond math, so the book is good in its breadth, what it lacks is section with solutions to end chapter excersices! it would be perfect with those solutions!
Bible.......2007-01-20
Explains basics-intermediate knowledge of bond markets. Eveen goes into basic understainding of fixed income trading strategy, if you want to work on a desk, in research,or are taking a fin-markets course, you will find this useful through your entire career.
The fixed income benchmark.......2004-03-12
This is the benchmark book on bonds and fixed income, it is very comprehensive and very reader-friendly. What I like about it is it covers everything. If I did not have this one book I would need 5 or 6 others instead. It covers bonds, pricing, duration, risk management, swaps, futurers, options, yield curve modelling, fund management, charting, and a whole lot more.As one endorsment says on the back: an encylopedia on bonds written like a thriller! Very good buy.
The only book you need on bonds and derivatives.......2004-01-23
Anyone with an interest in debt capital markets will still be referring to this book many years after purchasing it.
In-depth and original - great reference.......2004-01-23
This is an enclopaedic reference work on bonds and money markets, but written like a thriller. Oustanding work, great value and highly recommended to banker or student.

Book Description
This volume contains contempory analysis of three key developments in financial economics: financial integration; the dynamics of financial markets; and the information, computer, and technology revolution and its impact on markets and the economic performance, among others. With regard to financial integration, the contributions focus on three streams in international finance: the impact of increased financial integration on credit risk and on the required regulatory arrangements needed to reduce the probability of welfare reducing bank failures, the creation of new international currencies, and the relationship between finance and growth. With regard to the dynamics of financial markets, specific attention is devoted to the complex interaction of different sets of traders with heterogeneous beliefs and information sets. Finally, with respect to the ICT revolution, attention is focused on its impact on: foreign direct investment across countries, competition in the banking industry, consolidation in the financial services industry including its effects credit availability for small and medium sized enterprises, and the capital structure decisions of financial firms.

Book Description
The key technology for biomass production of woody species is propagation via micropropagation. Recent development of
in vitro culture techniques has made it possible to commercially propagate useful trees, both forest and fruit trees. In this book comprehensive information is provided on micropropagation of economically important forest and fruit trees, which is usually available in scattered literature. Topics cover a wide range, from tropical forest and fruit trees for paper or food supply, to
Prunus species for local craft bark production. Micropropagation of
Fagus,
Eucalyptus,
Acacia,
Aegle and fruit trees such as grapevine, bananas, apples, avocado, papaya, pistachio, olive, kiwifruit, litchi, and tea is described. General subjects on light quality, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, pathogen elimination, molecular markers, bioreactor, photoautotrophism, thin cell layer and
in vitro germplasm conservation are also described. We are convinced that such contents are extremely useful to researchers and students.

Book Description
This book gives a broad coverage of various aspects of plant molecular biology that are relevant to the improvement of woody plants, and is divided into two volumes. In Volume 1, background information on genetic engineering and molecular marker techniques is emphasized, whereas Volume 2 contains specific examples of species in which sufficient progress has been made to date. The first few chapters in Section 1 of Volume 1 focus on the current status of transgenic expression in plants and molecular aspects of development in woody plants, while the latter half of this section includes chapters on molecular biology of cell wall biosynthesis and nitrogen metabolism. Section 2 of Volume 1 covers tissue culture of woody plants and its relevance to molecular biology research, and the role of molecular markers in evolution, genome mapping, and aiding in breeding programs for the selection of desired genotypes. Volume 2 covers general aspects of the technology of gene transfer in woody plants and several examples of the current status of the applications of the techniques of molecular biology to woody species.

Book Description
Numerous experiments and calculations have shown that isolated metal clusters possess many interesting features, quite different from those known from surface and solid- state physics or from atomic and molecular physics. The technological exploitation of these new properties, e.g. in miniature electronic or mechanical components, requires the cluster to be brought into an environment such as an encapsulating matrix or a surface. Due to the interaction with the contact medium, the properties of the clusters may change or even disappear. Thus the physics of cluster-on-surface systems -- the main subject of this book -- is of fundamental importance. The book addresses a wide audience, from the newcomer to the expert. Starting from fundamental concepts of adsorbate-surface interactions, the modification of electronic properties through electron confinement, and concepts of cluster production, it elucidates the distinct properties of the new metallic nanostructures.
Customer Reviews:
My Favorite Mystery.......2004-10-29
During the second world war there were a number of mystery writers who specialized in chaotic, fast-moving, screwball detective stories. The war doesn't always enter into the plot, but there were numerous such books at that time and in my head I sort of group them together based on when they were written and their zany tone. Craig Rice, Dwight V Babcock, Frank Gruber (early in his career), and Norbert Davis were all writers of this "school", which features humor, lots of movement, and multiple lead characters at least one of whom has a rather flexible morality. The books are crowded with characters of widely divergent backgrounds, and often have an underworld or (sometimes) a Hollywood back drop.
I think the best of the lot may be Norbert Davis's "Sally's in the Alley". Davis's novels have the most unusual crime-solving duo I've come cross. One of them is a dog: Carstairs, a highly moral, intelligent Great Dane who doesn't approve of his master, a detective named Doan, who Carstairs believes indulges his taste for alchohol too much. The plot is as screwball as anything in the genre, and is populated with such characters as a highly patriotic young woman named Harriet Hathaway who'll do almost anything to help the war effort, a mysterious man named "Mr. Blue" who'd rather make lewd suggestions to Harriet than think about the war, a beautiful movie star, her corrupt agent, a government-hating prospector named Dust Mouth Haggerty, and a sinister undertaker, among others.
And Davis certainly had an amusing and evocative way with words: "Forenoons in Southern California are wonderful, except when the're not, and in that case there's no use discussing the matter at all. This one was ordinarily wonderful. The sun was shining and soft breezes were slithering, and there were some small, shy, freshly washed clouds distributed where they would do the least good."
At a slim 122 pages, the covers of this book are too close together (to invert an Ambrose Bierce criticism of another book), but that's my only complaint.
By the way, if you like Davis, you're in good company. He was a favorite of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein.
