I bought it and not much to learn from it. It would not improve my bottom line, This is my opinion.

Much overrated!.......2002-09-24

I had read Douglas's Trading in the Zone before. I had a very high expectation on this one. However, I was very disappointed.

The author emphasized throughout the book the importance of entering the zone, a state of mind that you can neglect fear, greed, P/L, and just trade according to your feeling of the market, though he supplemented that with the need of analysis, hardwork, focus blah blah blah, and that different people have different means to enter the zone, illustrated with examples anonymous. Those might be true stories. However, the author just did not tell the readers how they could do it themselves without the assistance of a coach like the author's good self.

A reviewer of this book wrote that this should be read together with Douglas's Trading in the Zone and Mc Call's The Way of the Warrior Trader. One should read those two excellent books only, but definitely not this.

Not his best..........2001-12-31

I personally admire Dr. Kiev's work and contribution to daily psychology. However I would suggest any trader - or any other person, for that matter - to read and apply the ideas in his " Daily Living Strategy". His goal-based approach is what I live on, and I certainly understand the positive comments made by his clients, but I think the reviews are concerning the book + the counselling they took personally from Dr. Kiev. By itself, the book is not complete. It is helpful, and it certainly adresses several important issues, but it doesn't go deep. Also, it is a product of Dr. Kiev's work with the professional traders working in huge trading firms or departments, and as such, addresses the problems and solutions that can be found in such settings. Even the trading methodology Dr. Kiev seems to advocate sounds very institutional: he is talking about how to get real info from analysts that call you up. Well, being a full time trader who strikes on his own, that didn't help me. Again I recommend buyiing his now-classic book, the Daily Living Strategy, and apply it to whatever it is you want to achieve in your life.

There are hundreds of good ideas floating around, just as every trader has thought of hundreds of great winning trades. The problem is in manifesting those ideas, making them work in concrete reality. Ari Kiev's book goes beyond the typical in that it doesn't stop at merely describing those obstacles to becoming a better trader; it pushes into the realm of implementation.

All of us can recall the feeling when everything falls into place, a point made clear from the many relevant interviews that reinforce Dr. Kiev's points. The difficulty--and the strength of this book--is to be consistent in one's effort to maintain that state of mind. There are mny useful tools and exercises offered that will keep traders from unconciously falling back into unproductive habits.

Everyone needs help, especially on the path to becoming an accomplished trader. This book is an essential guide to staying aware and taking action.

This book contends that central bank policy pits the Federal Reserve against consumers, creating business cycles and inflation. As the cycle proceeds, the velocity of money starts to rise, complicating the central bank's problems. Ultimately, either a depression or a runaway inflation develops. The gold standard would not alter patterns of supply and demand and would prevent business cycles and inflation. Central bank policies inevitably alter patterns of supply and demand from what they would be, based on consumer sovereignty. This changes the mix of human and physical capital available to produce a mixture of consumer goods. The economy struggles to right itself against these imbalances. Ultimately, the monetary velocity and price inflation start to rise, worsening the government's problems. In time, either a traditional depression or a runaway inflation results. The gold standard would prevent the twin evils of recession and price inflation. Investment professionals, corporate economists and others in strategic and financial planning capacities will find Mr. Marquard's book both challenging and provocative.

Description:
Through the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous, the southern shore of the Tethys Ocean migrated north and south over short distances. These vicissitudes are documented in the 'continental intercalaire', a long series of mainly non-marine sediments deposited across North Africa. A combined taxonomic, physical and chemical taphonomic study provides independent lines of evidence for reconstruction of palaeoenvironments within this marginal marine setting. The Douiret, Chenini and Oum ed Diab formations from the Tataouine basin of southern Tunisia span the later part of the Early Cretaceous. Microvertebrates from four sites in these formations show different modes of physical abrasion, time averaging, and mixing, based on a taphonomic analysis using a combination of physical and chemical methods. The taxonomic composition of each assemblage, and trends in rare earth element (REE) compositions of bones, from each locality were used as independent lines of evidence to indicate differences in early depositional environments. The Jebel Boulouha assemblage (Douiret Formation) is interpreted as a terrestrial carbonate-rich environment with relatively little mixing. The Touil el Mra assemblage (Oum ed Diab Formation) suggests a marginal marine environment with some mixing of previously interred bones. The Oued el Khil assemblage (Chenini Formation) and the Oum ed Diab assemblage (Oum Ed Diab Formation) are more equivocal, suggesting mixed freshwater and marine influences. Interpreting salinity in marginal marine settings is difficult, and best attempted from multiple, independent lines of evidence. We suggest that REE geochemistry can contribute to palaeoenvironmental reconstruction when used in combination with other, independent physical, palaeontological and /or geochemical methods.

Brilliant. This novel is truly hilarious.

As you may have read in the other reviews, Stingley is not inventing a new genre or even telling a new story. But the way she tells this story is simply wonderful.

I have not laughed out loud while reading in a long time, and there were many moments that I snickering, chuckling, etc, while reading this book. The characters, dialogue, and main character's ruminations are just tasty.

I highly recommend this as a fun book to read and enjoy!

Not So Original.......2005-09-06

I felt like I've seen or read this before, it's very predictable. It reminded me a lot of a few movies I've seen, namely "The Wedding Date". The plotline is an overused story of hiring someone to take the place of an imaginary boyfriend. The ending is very blunt and anticlimactic!

Great read with wonderful character development!.......2004-08-23

I just finished this, and I really enjoyed it -- a lot more than I thought I would, even. It's more than just your typical chick lit book, despite the silly romantic comedy premise. (By the way, the silly romantic comedy premise was an awful lot of fun, and the reason I bought the book in the first place, so don't think I'm knocking it. I'm not.) Instead, we get a genuine, interesting novel about a set of characters who felt like real people. Even when the author was playing things up a little for comic effect, none of these characters felt like caricatures or cartoons -- they always came across as real people. The plot did get slightly ridiculous in places, but hey, what can you expect from a novel in which a woman hires an actor to play her fake boyfriend at family gatherings? It never got absurd, though.

And best of all, I felt like Samantha had really grown and changed thoughout the course of the novel. She had a newfound understanding of herself and her relationships with other people by the end of the book. The character development was very satisfying to watch.

I also loved the author's style -- deadpan and sarcastic without being cynical or mean. Very funny stuff; I was laughing out loud in places.

Good book! I'm going to be looking out for more by this author!

Dress You Up in My Love.......2004-05-27

Diane Stingley is a community columnist for a newspaper in my area. Her style is satirical, witty, and so on target. Her subject matter is usually us--Americans and the culture we are trapped in. When I heard she had written a novel, I knew I would have to read it. I devoured Dress You Up in My Love in a couple of days; it took that long only because I wanted to savor the humor. Several times I laughed out loud. "Nothing like finding out you're gay to straighten out your life" was my favorite line. I haven't laughed this much since I read Raney by Clyde Edgerton a few years back. The first-person narration is perfect for this story. The ending is a roller coaster ride. Buy this book for your summer reading; you and your friends will take turns reading it. I hope Diane is working on another one!

GREAT Future for Diane Stingley...........2004-04-28

"Dress You Up in My Love" is Diane Stingley's first novel and it is not a fluke. Her witty dialogue and raw delve into her characters is absolutely wonderful. Her passion for her craft is so apparent. I can only hope that her agent has her stashed away somewhere inspirational, where she is hard at work on her next novel. For this woman to not write full-time would be a crime...she is THAT good. More than even the plot, Stingley has a way of saying things that most of us are thinking.

The cover design by Min Choi is so original and appropriate for the title that there is no telling how many readers initially picked up this book because they were intrigued by the cover. I hope that Stingley works together with Choi in the future, because the artist has showcased her work brilliantly.

"Dress You Up in My Love " is the story of 30-something Samantha Stone, who finds that inventing the perfect boyfriend is not as easy as it looks. It is a refreshing and realistic novel that will leave you looking for more of Stingley's books in the future.
