Good text for a lecture class.......2007-09-21

This text does not separate journal entries used as examples from the chapter discussions, which makes it difficult to follow each chapter's progression. However, the examples in the text are in depth and quite helpful when worked out in a group setting.

Book is confusing and leaves lots of things out.......2007-01-21

This book was very hard to follow and my professor had to give us handouts from other textbooks because of the amount of stuff the author left out. The author gave problems in the back of each chapter and half the time he didn't cover the material in the book. I certainly hope that my professor reconsiders his choice of books for future classes.

Not so hot overview of Agency & Corp Law.......2005-12-17

I was unimpressed with this book. Many in my class struggled because of the way the book was thrown together.
My main problems are the lack of explanation for key concepts, other than a reference to a cut-down case and the questionable decision to use cases that don't clearly explain the issue at hand.
I was thrown off at first when I couldn't find some of the cases in Lexis or WestLaw. Rather than relying on an on-topic US SC case or even a Fed circuit case, some key concepts get examples that are unpublished lower-court decisions where the judge makes either the wrong decision or the right decision for the wrong rulings. The book does not point out the error of the court when it does this. Most of the time this happened, my professor would point out that we should ignore this case and learn the concept from a study guide or his class notes. In an ideal BA book, the authors wouldn't try to trick students by giving them bad examples of the law (or without explaining that the examples have faulty legal logic).
If you are reading this review, you are likely either a law student or a law professor. If you are a professor, please think twice about using this book. If you are a student, you will have no choice in the matter. If you find yourself struggling then read the Lexis and Westlaw briefs or get the High Court Summary for this book. My school bookstore didn't have the HC summaries for this book, but Amazon did.

A great casebook limited to noncorporate entities.......2006-12-11

The same authors publish a larger, more complete casebook "Business Associations" that contains all these materials (Agency, Partnership, and limited liability entities) plus corporations. The statutory materials (Agency Rest., UPA, RUPA, ULLCA) are ommited from the larger text, but a stat. suplement is available. If you're taking corporations and agency as two separate courses, this larger text may cover both.

Great Agency and Partnership Casebook .......2006-08-30

Great A&P text. Selected cases are on point, and the dicta does a pretty good job (as good as a case book can do) of describing the black letter law of A&P. Cases appear well edited (e.g. short, readable) and are current (don't like casebooks that keep citing 1800s british cases, this one uses cases by and large since WWII, so easy to pull up citations online.

Volume 2 is a companion to Volume 1. It is a comprehensive description of satellite remote sensing applications to all aspects of polar glaciology, including not only ice sheets but also icebergs and interactions between ice sheets and the atmosphere and the ocean. It also includes a chapter on the important new field of satellite synthetic-aperture rader interfermetry. There should be something of interest to most polar researchers and those interested in climate research. As in Volume 1, Volume 2 includes a review of the current state of each discipline, including current questions and issues and related suggestions for research applications of satellite remote sensing. There are many satellite remote sensing texts available, but very few are specifically tailored to, or even contain significant information on the Earth's polar regions. The text is sufficiently comprehensive to summarize fundamental principles of detectors, imaging and geophysical product retrieval, in three dedicated chapters. In effect, the text serves as much as possible as a "one stop shop" for polar remote sensing information. As with Volume 1, the book is extensively referenced, and in an up-to-date fashion. Not so Much a Romance; But Still a Good Story.......2006-08-23

I really enjoyed this book. However, I went into it thinking it a romance novel and was a little suprised. As a romance novel, it's not so good. There is next to no romance, and the romance that does come along; doesn't really make a lot of sense.

For the life of me; I CANNOT figure out WHY Dory loves Chase or when he came to the epiphany that he loved Dory. WHY does he love Dory? For the first half of the book all he talks about is how hot he is for her older sister Jill and does't give a second glance at Dory.

Then suddenly, he marries Jill and the night of their honeymoon, he has this great epiphany that he loves Dory? It was like they just threw that part in to make it a romance.

As a story about a family struggling to support themselves, the ancestral land and the staff that has become so much more, it's awesome. I love all of the characters, except for Chase really.

The only complaint I really have in fact is the "romance" aspect of it and the ending was more than a little unsatisfying. Aside from that though; it's a great book. I read it in two days!

Fun read!.......2006-02-20

The first time I read this book, I liked it a lot but Chase wasn't my favorite hero. The story line is excellent, the supporting characters are diverse and colorful, it has recurring visits from characters from past favorite books and it was full of humor. Then I reread it and realized something. Chase still isn't my favorite but I think he's one of the most real men you'll ever read about. He's not perfect, in fact he can be a real idiot at times. I know a lot more men like that than the perfect type! He's human.

I really like Dory, the heroine. She's smart and determined and spunky. My only complaint would be that she was way too easy on Chase. I would have forgiven and married Chase in the end also, but first I would have given him a harder time than Dory did. She's nicer than me! :o)

Mindless Chatter.......2005-10-05

I'm sorry to say this book is a total flop. No Story, No indepth characters, and Nothing that can hold the readers interest. So boring I quit reading about half way through. I'm sorry I wasted my money on it.

My favorite book ever is Return Proposal. Like that book, Honeymoon Suite has wonderful characters, a delightful family and Ms. Michaels' wonderful style and wit.

Sadly, she couldn't make two very important points work, try as she might. I cannot feel sorry for this family that is so poor it has to sell off the vintage Packard and the expensive art work so it can continue to live in a house "two football fields long and one football field wide". There ARE poor people who don't have vintage cars to sell off. Why didn't they just sell the estate, pay off the staff (yes, they still had a large staff) and get jobs?

Second, I can't respect a hero who tells the heroine he loves her a few hours after he married her sister. While his wife is sleeping off too much champagne, he's making his move on the sister. Okay so his wife didn't marry him for love, is it too much to expect him to wait for an annulment? Why was he such a jerk he married the gorgeous sister anyway?

I kept thinking, I REALLY like Ms. Michaels' writing--and I do--but she plotted a pit for herself her and could never quite get me to care.

Best of the three.......2005-09-07

This book is part of a sorta series and as far as I can tell its the third and last. If you don't know what a sorta series is I'll explain: A sorta series is where the book has its own story and all the sudden random characters from the authors other books are in the story, its not really enough of a role in the book to be labeled a series but it is sorta. Anyways I own all three books starting with Mother of the Bride, followed by Return Engagement, then Honeymoon Suite. For most of this book I HATED the main male role("hero") because he is stupid and well basically he is just being stupid and blinded by beauty, BUT I really enjoy this book I would tell you more but I hate it when people ruin the story for be before I read it and feel everyone should feel the same way. So all I can say is stick with it past the boring beginning and it will be worth it.
