I just finished reading the 101 Reasons for owning Berkshire Hathaway book and found it very educational, enlightening, and exciting. Congratulations to Robert P. Miles on this outstanding contribution to our investment education and the clever way he made his points and presentation. I wish I had known its contents and wise counsel 30 years ago!

Investment for Idiots.......2001-11-29

(...) This is a loathesome. disagreeable book to anyone with even a smidgen of investment knowledge. Warren Buffet should be ashamed. I felt I was reading an Amway treatise with "Berkshire Hathaway" substituted for "Amway". I can't tell you how many times I read the phrase "til death do you part". I got news for all you people investing in the market - that's just the way to get really burned. This isn't a marriage, it's a business decision, one that should be constantly reevaluated. And if you're going to hold it forever, and never sell, then yes, of course, you needn't ever think about it again. It might as well be a priceless family heirloom , not for sale at any price. This book just made me plain angry. I was looking to actually learn something about Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathway; instead all I ever learned about was Miles' undying devotion, and unquestioning mindset. It does have a good list of investment web sites. Not worth the price of the book, however.

Barnum was right!.......2001-11-27

Robert P. Miles, aka simple investor, has written the worst book about Warren Buffett imaginable. I read all this when it first appeared on the Berkshire Chatter Board & was appalled at the following he developed. I bought his book becase I am always interested in disasters. Mr. Miles may be the nicest man in the world but he is without doubt the worst writer. The great thing about America is anybody can be anything: Mr. Miles wanted to be a writer & he is: yes indeed, Mr. Barnum was right! I wish the rating system went to minus 5. The worst thing is, now Mr. Miles has written a second book & I must buy it to see if he remains the world's worst writer. Sincerely, Mike

Read the Book/Bought the Stock.......2001-07-10

Enjoyed this book and came to the conclusion that I had to buy the stock. Looking for a safe, value investment for the long term and his book explained clearly why you should buy Bershire Hathaway stock instead of a mutual fund. Preordered the author's next book on Warren Buffett.

Spin-orbit coupling makes the spin degree of freedom respond to its orbital environment. In solids this yields such intriguing phenomena as a spin splitting of electron states in inversion-asymmetric systems even at zero magnetic field and a Zeeman splitting that is significantly enhanced in magnitude over that for free electrons. This book describes spin-orbit coupling effects in quasi-two-dimensional electron and hole systems. The first part provides a general introduction to the electronic structure of quasi-two-dimensional systems with a particular focus on group-theoretical methods. The main part of the monograph is devoted to spin-orbit coupling phenomena at zero and nonzero magnetic fields. Throughout the book, the main focus is on a thorough discussion of the physical ideas and a detailed interpretation of the results. Accurate numerical calculations are complemented by simple and transparent analytical models that capture the important physics.

In the 1970s F. Calogero and D. Sutherland discovered that for certain potentials in one-dimensional systems, but for any number of particles, the Schrödinger eigenvalue problem is exactly solvable. Until then, there was only one known nontrivial example of an exactly solvable quantum multi-particle problem. J. Moser subsequently showed that the classical counterparts to these models is also amenable to an exact analytical approach. The last decade has witnessed a true explosion of activities involving Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models, and these now play a role in research areas ranging from theoretical physics (such as soliton theory, quantum field theory, string theory, solvable models of statistical mechanics, condensed matter physics, and quantum chaos) to pure mathematics (such as representation theory, harmonic analysis, theory of special functions, combinatorics of symmetric functions, dynamical systems, random matrix theory, and complex geometry). The aim of this volume is to provide an overview of the many branches into which research on CMS systems has diversified in recent years. The contributions are by leading researchers from various disciplines in whose work CMS systems appear, either as the topic of investigation itself or as a tool for further applications.

In Manhattan, forty-two years old Alle Sheffield gave up on cads over a decade ago. Her late night companions in her Upper East Side "Castle" are Letterman and Mr. Goodbunny, especially the latter, an expert on providing females with orgasms without unreasonable demands except for buying him batteries.

However, as she struggles to become a life coach without her clients like Barbara, Tanja, and Joan killing her, crisis strikes in her life. Her father is being paroled after a stint behind bars, but that is minor league; her high school reunion is coming up soon and she is without a date and not much of a career so far, but that too is also minor league compared to the world shattering grief she suffers. Mr. Goodbunny just died leaving her to mourn the loss of her companion of almost a decade; finding a replacement vibrator will be nearly impossible as American craftsmanship now comes from China and she can't speak the language. She thinks of committing heresy and an insult to the memory of her deceased hero Mr. Goodbunny by trying a man this time.

LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBUNNY is an amusing satirical chick lit tale starring an odd heroine who has her priorities in some sort of chaotic order. Fans will enjoy the irony that Alle is a life coach when she struggles to make sense of her own life, which in her mind provides her experience to go along with her training certificate. A strong support cast including the title character and a delightfully wacky queen of chaos star make for a fun tale that will send sub-genre readers seeking Kathleen O'Reilly's Faust enters the chick lit realm tale THE DIVA'S GUIDE TO SELLING YOUR SOUL.
