5 out of 5 stars Great book for those building a fee-based business!.......2002-07-12

If you're a successful adviser (whether commission or fees) this is a great book for insight on institutionalizing your practice. The commission=salesperson= own a job, not a business scenario is right on. Great templates and tools to apply right away.
Worth checking out along with Deena Katz book.

            Book Description

To become law a Bill had to pass many different stages, at any of which, up to and including royal assent, it might fail; Bills unpassed at the dissolution of a Parliament were also automatically abandoned: Between 1660 and 1800 Parliament passed 14;216 Acts. In this period 7025 attempts to pass an act at Westminster failed. Failed Legislation, 1660-1800, provides a full list of these for the first time. It provides an essential perspective on the legislative history of the period and will be an essential tool for social, economic and political historians. Arranged chronologically, by parliamentary session, it presents the key information as to how legislative initiatives were handled. By showing patterns of demand for legislation, and categorising types of legislation and their success rate, it also reflects on many aspects of British history in this period, and not just political history. Subject coding allows the list to be analysed at a number of levels, from the general to the particular, including the examination of specific issues. Taken as a whole, it shows how extensively statute was used to address a very wide range of issues, both local and national, in the early modern period.

                    Book Description

Describing in detail the two-way interaction between wind and ocean waves, this book discusses ocean wave evolution in accordance with the energy balance equation. An extensive overview of nonlinear transfer is given, and the role of four-wave interactions in the generation of extreme events as well as the effects on ocean circulation is included. The volume will interest ocean wave modellers, physicists, applied mathematicians, and engineers.

                      Book Description

The goals of wind wave research are relatively well defined: to be able to predict the wind wave field and its effect on the environment. That environment could be natural (beaches, the atmosphere etc.) or imposed by human endeavour (ports, harbours, coastal settlements etc.). Although the goals are similar, the specific requirements of these various fields differ considerably.

This book attempts to summarise the current state of this knowledge and to place this understanding into a common frame work. It attempts to take a balanced approach between the pragmatic engineering view of requiring a short term result and the scientific quest for detailed understanding. Thus, it attempts to provide a rigorous description of the physical processes involved as well as practical predictive tools.

                        Book Description

This research monograph deals with the study of wave phenomena caused by winds in the world's oceans. Particular attention is paid to modern developments that take into account the propagation of ocean waves at global distances and their interaction with the sea bottom, ocean currents and the ice cover. With this book the author provides the first methodical presentation of the generation, evolution and propagation of wind-induced ocean waves.

                            Book Description

Hardbound. This volume provides global estimates of wind and wave conditions and is based on data from the GEOSAT satellite. Parameters such as monthly values of wind speed and wave heights are presented as contour fields in global and regional charts. Variations in wind and wave parameters are also shown along common shipping routes and lines of latitude and longitude.

The Atlas includes a useful reference text, providing an introduction to global meteorology and the processes responsible for the generation of ocean waves. In addition, information relating to the GEOSAT mission, data preparation and validation, and wind/wave statistics provide a full summary of the background to this major new publication.

Global estimates of wind and wave conditions are required for activities such as engineering design, oceanographic and meteorological studies, ship routing and recreational activities. This publication will appeal to a wide range of readers from

                              Product Description

This book represents the most comprehensive description of the physical findings of an investigation into the spatio-temporal characteristics of the gravity of breaking waves and the foam activity in open sea by methods and instruments of optical and microwave remote sensing.

The study of physical and electrodynamics' properties of the gravity wave breaking processes and the foam spatio-temporal activity is an important facet of satellite oceanography, ocean engineering, air-sea interaction and ocean remote sensing. In particular, the contribution of foam formations of various types to the mean and the spatio-temporal variations of radio emission, back-scattering, IR and optical parameters of the disturbed sea surface is highly significant. The statistical characteristics of wave breaking and attendant foam forming are very important to ocean wave dynamics. The study and measurement of spatio-temporal characteristics of wave breaking and sea foam formations are of fundamental importance in ocean remote sensing.

Much emphasis is placed on the physical aspects of breaking processes necessary to measure the possibilities and limitations of remote sensing methods in specific observation cases of an oceanic surface. Numerous practical applications and illustrations are provided from air-borne, ship-borne and laboratory up-to-date experiments.

This is a NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL MONTEREY CA report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A174793. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The development of a coastal ocean circulation model involves many challenges, including the interaction of complex coastline and topography and the prediction of mesoscale oceanographic features. The Innovative Coastal-Ocean Observing Network (ICON) developed a Monterey Bay ocean circulation model to resolve these challenges. This study examines two different ICON model cases. The first ICON model case was forced with the 100 km NOGAPS winds while the other was forced with the 9 km COAMPS winds. The comparison demonstrated that the 9 km COAMPS-forced case produced better resolution of the ocean mesoscale. This was shown through examination of the daily sea surface temperature fields and the daily surface ocean currents. Time series of sea surface temperature showed a strong seasonal cycle. After removal of the seasonal cycle, the existence of mesoscale features was even more dramatic. A case study at Pt. Sur showed the evolution of mesoscale features associated with an upwelling event.

These ten detailed and authoritative survey articles on numerical methods for direct and inverse wave propagation problems are written by leading experts. Researchers and practitioners in computational wave propagation, from postgraduate level onwards, will find the breadth and depth of coverage of recent developments a valuable resource. The articles describe a wide range of topics on the application and analysis of methods for time and frequency domain PDE and boundary integral formulations of wave propagation problems. Electromagnetic, seismic and acoustic equations are considered. Recent developments in methods and analysis ranging from finite differences to hp-adaptive finite elements, including high-accuracy and fast methods are described with extensive references.
