Inspired by developments in superstring theory, it provides a systematic treatment of the quantum field theories with N=2 and N=3 supersymmetry in Harmonic Superspace. The authors present the harmonic superspace approach as a means of providing an off-shell description of the N=2 supersymmetric theories, both at the classical and quantum levels. Furthermore, they show how it offers a unique way to construct an off-shell formulation of a theory with higher supersymmetry, namely, the N=3 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Harmonic Superspace makes manifest many remarkable geometric properties of the N=2 theories, for example, the one-to-one correspondence between N=2 supersymmetric matter, and hyper-Kähler and quaternionic manifolds.

During the past fifteen years there has been a dramatic increase in the number of different surfaces whose structures have been determined experimentally. For example, whereas in 1979 there were only 25 recorded adsorption structures, to date there are more than 250. This volume is therefore a timely review of the state-of-the-art in this dynamic field.

Chapter one contains a compilation of the structural data base on surfaces within a series of tables that allows direct comparison of structural parameters for related systems. Experimental structural trends amongst both clean surfaces and adsorbate systems are highlighted and discussed.

The next chapter outlines the successes of local density functional theory in predicting the relaxations and reconstructions of clean metal and semiconductor surfaces, and the behaviour of adsorbates such as hydrogen, oxygen and alkali elements on metal surfaces, thereby explaining some of the experimental trends observed within the database. These ab initio density functional calculations are of ground state properties at the absolute zero of temperature.

Chapter three provides an introduction to finite temperature effects in a pedagogical review of current statistical mechanical treatments of phase transitions at surfaces, many of which display the prominent role of fluctuations or non-mean field behaviour.

The final chapter discusses the relationship of the reactivity of a surface to its morphology and composition, which is particularly relevant to a fundamental understanding of catalysis.

The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The strain pattern analysis (SPA) method is applied to estimate rotor blade torsional deflections. The SPA technique requires calculated mode shapes for the tested rotor blade and strain measurements from the rotor's wind tunnel or flight test. The Holzer method is developed to calculate the required mode shapes from rotor blade stiffness and mass properties and the torsional equation of motion. The Holzer method is tested with numerous theoretical and experimental cases and is proven accurate. The strain measurements are from wind tunnel tests conducted by the Army, NASA, United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) and Sikorsky at DNW with a (1:5.73) model-scale UH-60A rotor blade with an advance ratio of 0.301, an advancing tip Mach number of 0.8224 and an average Reynolds number of 1,278,729. The SPA method predicts slightly larger torsional deflections that compare well with the overall trend and range of UTRC static method integrated deflections. The SPA method was evaluated to determine the tolerance to change in the number of measurements and the modes applied, errors in the measurements, and errors in rotor blade stiffness and mass properties. The method is tolerant to all effects except a decrease in the number of measurements and modes.

I read this book on an airplane trip to Flint, Michigan and loved it!! The part where the grandma never got to smell the roses was my favorite. Buy it and read it.

This is quite an unclassifiable book. It is very out of time - this is a good thing - and Dinsmores dead pan delivery underscores the humour in this outrageous faux autobiography. Relentelessly skewing Hollywood cliches, US race relations and and the culture of celebrity I An Actress delivers plenty of laughs per page. The clever part is that you actually find yourself emotionionally involved with the minstrel turned stripper turned communist turned trash movie icon Karen Jamey.

Why is this book not outselling The Da Vinci Code? Lemmie giive you a clue : Da Vinci dies at the end! And Jesus was Batman.

Now go buy this book, goddamnit.

Dinsmore delivers the goods with his sophomore novel, from Brooklyn-based neo-pulp publishing company Contemporary Press (you should really check out their other stuff too; it's all great). Once you get started with I AN ACTRESS, you can't put it down. I tore through it in one sitting -- it's cheeky, charming, and clever, with a great mix of razor-sharp satire and well-wrought plotting. Awesome.
