A study in 1987 concluded that agricultural innovations for dryland had been developed in India but that, amongst others extension and implementation was not very successful. The present study is in fact a continuation of this interest in the problems faced by farming households living in remote, economically backward semi-arid regions and the policies towards these regions. The study focuses on agricultural change in a semi-arid area south of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and analyses in depth the effect of two intervention strategies: a project financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Government and a project implemented by AWARE, one of the largest NWOs in Andhra Pradesh and in India.

This is a great book for something like a long car trip or an airplane ride - you can read it again and again, with different situations! I love how accurate the portrayal of TJ is. It is funny and crazy! And for the record, don't eat the worm!

I used to read "Choose Your Own Adventure" books as a kid and loved them. I bought this book planning to read through it and pass on to my neices. I think I'll pass on giving this to my neices though because it was a little more trashy than I expected. The book is fun from the choose your own adventure aspect, but it almost encourages drinking binges, sex with strangers, profits from drug deals, etc. I realize its just a book but its not exactly the sort of book I'd want my 12 year old neice to read. Leave this one for adults wanting to relive the memory of choose your own adventure books.
