Economics of Accounting: Information in Markets examines the fundamentals of a variety of economic analyses of the decision-facilitating and decision-influencing roles of information that are pertinent to the study of the economic impact of accounting. While much of information economic analysis makes no explicit reference to accounting, many generic results apply to accounting reports. Furthermore, the impact of accounting reports depends on the other information received by the economy's participants. Hence, it is essential that accounting researchers have a broad understanding of the impact of publicly reported information within settings in which there are multiple sources of public and private information.
The focus in this volume is on the decision-facilitating role of information, with emphasis on the impact of public and private information on the equilibria and investor welfare in capital and product markets.

So I get that we read books to escape from the real world; I do not gravitate to novels such as this in search of realism. But nothing about this novel was believable in the least. The plot was silly and uninteresting, and the characters were unlikable. I didn't enjoy Holden's writing style at all. Her overuse of adverbs made me want to stick an ice pick in my temple. Giving it 2 stars is actually generous. A friend recently loaned me Farm Fatale, and I got about 40 pages in and felt the same way about it, so I just gave up. But I might give her other books a try based on the reviews I've read here. We can't always bring our "A game" I suppose.

I thought this book was very humorous. I especially got a kick out of how shallow Cassandra was. My only complaint is that the plot could have moved along a little more quickly, but overall I would recommend it.

Anna is a girl on the edge. She just been dump by her boyfriend Seb and now she has no place to go. But as luck would have it, bestselling romance writer Cassandra is in between nannies. Anna takes the job, thinking that Cassandra is going to teach Anna about being a writer. But Anna finds herself taking care of a child that Anna's thinks is the spawn of Satan. But suddnenly, on the third date, Anna finds a guy thats wants to marry her. What is Anna to do?
I am so glad that I did not pay for this book! It was one of the worst book that I have read in along time. There were so many plotlines that there could have been at lease three books out of this one. I have to say that I would be hard press to read another book by Wendy Holden.

On the surface, this seemed like the type of book I would enjoy. I love British chick lit in general, especially Marian Keyes. I love books about nannies. And I love books where you see women progress from dashing but scumbag boyfriends to true soul mates, even if they are trite at times.

My expectations weren't really that high -- I wasn't looking for high literature, I was looking for something light-hearted and fun to read in the bathtub. And while the book started out on that track, it ended up going in so many directions at once that the fun was lost.

Yes, the book is about a woman who is jilted by her dashing but scumbag boyfriend, and turns to being a nanny as a transition. But it's also about the woman she works for, who's struggling with alcoholism and writers block and a troubled marriage. And her husband, who is an aging rock star who likes to molest the nannies and leaves his wife for an air-headed starlet who pretends to write, but doesn't really. And also about some people she met at the wedding she attends in the beginning of the book with the scumbag, including the interesting PR girl who sleeps with the groom on his wedding night, and a handsome if odd young man who is acting like one of the caterers but is really heir to the castle the wedding is held in. And did I mention that the original woman in question is also trying to write a novel, and that's why she wanted to work for the crazy woman with writers block?

Sadly, I haven't mentioned half of the characters and plotlines crammed into this book, but suffice it to say that none of them were well-developed.
