Excellent book with practical applications, not just theory.......2006-05-31
Apart from the occassional typo this book is fantastic. Not only does it expertly explain Fibonacci expansions and retracements, but it also clearly outlines how to use them. John Netto also does a great job in utilizing a multitude of indicators to identify key pivot points. I have found that his choice fo the 15 adnd 39 day MAs work much better than the standard MAs of 20 and 50.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to actually "make money" trading.
mel's review.......2005-02-08
I found One Shot - One Kill Trading to be a breath of fresh air rounding out a number of intuitions that I had about the market. I did find a few things as well about the book that were perplexing, and I had to reread a couple of times before I really understood the point that Netto was trying to convey, in particular his Netto Numbers. What I liked the most about the book was the fairly straightforward explanation of how he gets into positions and how he trades. In this regard, the book is very powerful...I have found that since using parts of his method in my own trading that when I get in, I am usually up money in the trade and can take profits as opposed to being down right away which is a problem I had been dealing with.
I have used Fibonacci numbers off and on for some time and I must say the book did a great job of explaining how to use his Fibonacci friends to enter positions. Netto puts a different twist on Fib Numbers in Chapter five of trading inflection points that I have never come across. I was able to correspond with him via email from his site (www.osoktrading.com) and actually had a nice phone call with him as well where he reinforced the concepts in this book. I have to say, I never expected that he would be so responsive and I thought he might try to sell me something, but he was very approachable and I felt he genuinely wanted me to succeed as a trader. Like every book though, there were some drawbacks and I wish the charts in this book could have been a little more seamless to use as they were not as user friendly as they could have been. With that said, this is one of the best trading books I have read because it presents a trading plan that is easy to understand and is grounded in some solid trading advice and based on my own personal results has improved.
One Shot - One Kill Trading.......2005-01-16
I have fortunately read numerous books on trading as well as technical and fundamental analysis and I have no doubt that each book has contributed to my current knowledge of and interest in trading the markets. Unfortunately (I am not blaming the books), they all left me looking for more guidance in formulating a trading strategy.
John Netto's book appealed to my burning need to develop a coherent trading strategy. John's writing style makes his book easy to read without becoming too technical to grasp the underlying principles. This is a book that will reveal more each time it is read and it certainly needs to be read more than once if the reader is to benefit from John's approach to trading. My only regret is that I did not read this book a lot earlier in my quest for knowledge of trading systems.
Are there better books on trading? - If you like lots of technical detail, the answer is probably yes! However few books are going to provide the required level of detail with a workable trading plan all written in an easy to read style.
The final point I wish to make is that, thanks to the power of the internet and John's willingness, I was able to clarify an issue on the Detrended Oscillator. John responded to my query within an hour! www.osoktrading.com
One Shot - One Kill Trading.......2005-01-16
I am the author of the book and I wanted to share with you a little bit about myself as well as the mindset that went behind writing the book. As a trader I have always had an appetite for knowledge and to learn as much as possible about the market and then be able to share this information with others. One Shot - One Kill Trading is a byproduct of this.
The book is a compilation of ideas, anecdotes and experiences that ultimately morphed itself into a trading method that I have used to consistently make money trading. I touch on a number of things in here that I had to learn the hard way when it came to trading. I believe strongly in the basis of my method which consists of buying weakness in rising markets, selling strength in falling markets, and taking profits at predetermined price targets. The book lays out in clear terms how to do this.
Beyond understanding the methodology; understanding how to trade from abundance is just as, if not even more important. I delve into this as well because if you trade from scarcity your winning trades end up being cut too short and your losing trades end up going too long. Trading from abudance only comes when you have the confidence that you are trading with a method that works.
In order to assist anyone who reads the book and is unclear on the content, I am very open and willing to correspond with those individuals interested in learning more. I have responded to every email to date and readers often comment how surprised they are at how fast I get back to them.
I am a former Marine and the discipline and ability to function and think clearly under stress is important in trading. My Marine Corps experiences are so important to me that I am taking 100 percent of the profits from this book and donating them to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. I would encourage everyone to please look into donating to this very worthy charity.
Semper Fi,
John Netto
Must Have for Every Investor.......2004-10-29
Whether you have just started investing or have been at it for a while, this book has techniques and concepts that will make you money and protect your capital. His initial comments encourage the reader to grab a highlighter, pen, and pencil and actively mark up the book, making it an interactive tool to be questioned, tested, and tailored to your individual situation.
How many times have you been right about a move but wrong about the time and had to close a position only to see it do what you thought it would within days? Mr. Netto has developed a comprehensive "plan of attack" that maximizes reward potential while minimizing risk. His capital allocation method compounds on letting winners run and cutting losers off at the knees.
The techniques and strategies Mr. Netto uses are scalable for day traders, swing traders, and long-term investors.
I recommend reading it a minimum of three times: the first time to get the concepts, the second to glean the gems that you missed, and the third time to begin building a comprehensive investing/trading plan.

Book Description
"In countries just emerging from dictatorships, societies have been looking to history for models of reparations and justice for the victims. German reparations for the victims of Nazism represents both a model and a warning." -- from the Preface
In the aftermath of World War II, a defeated Nazi Germany hoped to ignore concentration camp survivors. But the Western Allies, the newly established Israeli government, and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany defended the rights of Jews who had survived the Holocaust and of the relatives of those who had been murdered. International treaties enacted by these groups forced the Federal Republic of Germany to financially compensate the victims for stolen property as well as for damage to physical and mental health and livelihood.
In Paying for the Past, physician and historian Christian Pross untangles the complicated history of reparations in West Germany, from the American military government's 1947 Law Number 59 (Restitution of Property Stolen in the Course of the "Aryanization of the Economy") to West Germany's Federal Restitution Law of 1957 and into the 1970s. When first published in German in 1988, Pross's landmark research caused a furor because it exposed the hostility of the West German people and the bitter political opposition within the government toward reparations legislation and the Holocaust victims seeking restitution. One of Pross's most disturbing discoveries was that victims were frequently retraumatized by the reparations process itself. Some were forced to undergo medical and psychological examination by dozens of physicians in order to substantiate their claims of abuse. Many more had claims still pending after twenty years of waiting.
Paying for the Past uncovers the inconsistencies, distortions, superficialities, and veiled anti-Semitic attitudes of West Germany's official version of its reparations history. Pross brings to light the government's continuous resistance to reparations and allows those who challenged this official reluctance to finally speak. Through victims' statements and numerous eyewitness accounts, the book also unblinkingly documents the crimes for which victims demanded restitution. Finally available in English, this edition of Paying for the Past contains a new preface by the author and an afterword by medical ethicist Erich Loewy which places the ethical issues raised by the West German experiences with reparations into an international context.

Book Description
With the worldwide upsurge of lawsuits against classification societies, their liability towards third parties has become one of the most contentious issues in contemporary maritime law. Against this background, the authors analyze potential third-party claims and examine to what extent classification societies may limit their liability. Given that the major classification societies are global players, these questions must be addressed from an international and comparative law perspective. Therefore, this study highlights the development in Australian, English, French, New Zealand, and U.S. law before discussing the relevant issues under German law.

Master of Physics.......2005-07-21
This book is obnoxiously bad. If you prepare for the SATII with this book, you are guaranteed to fail
It's good, but it's probably not the best.........2005-02-05
I have studied two years of physics during high school, but found out that the SAT II physics exams covers wider range of subjects than my highschool material (I was familiar with only 60% of the test material)this book did a VERY GOOD job reviewing and explaining the test material.
cons:
very easy example tests (I scored 800 In all four of them)
In the actual test I knew the material very well, and most of the questions were easy, but few were trickier and requiered some thinking (unlike the practice tests)..
I scored 760 (83 percentile) which is both good and bad, because I knew the material perfectly, if I had better practice exams, I think I would have done a little better...
(I have heard that the princeton review book is better..)
Complete, concise and understandable........2004-12-05
These are three descriptive words for this book. There were themes which I didn't cover at school, I never stepped inside a Physics lab and still, this book was very helful.
In the real test, questions are a bit longer, but if you studied from this book and from other resources -like your physics school book-you will do absolutely fine.
Except for a thing or two that the book didn't teach, it was EXCELLENT. Best thing is, it made hard things easy. Kaplan books are student-friendly in these matters.

Mediocre at Best.......2003-08-25
With about a month left to prepare for the SAT II: Physics test, and a college level background in Mechanics (from preparing for the AP Physics test), I purchased this book with the hopes of improving my knowledge of electricity, magnetism, thermal physics, and everything else the test covers that isn't Newtonian Mechanics.
After working my way through the book in about two weeks, I began taking the practice tests, and low and behold, I was near 800 on every single one of them (I believe I averaged a 780 on them), and was finishing in half the alloted time. However, once I sat down in the classroom on that Saturday morning to take the real thing, I suddenly realized that the level of questions on the test was much more difficult than anything I encountered in the book.
Sure enough, based on my guessing skills, and leaving the right questions blank, I was able to get a 700 on the test, with only ten minutes left to spare to check over my work (as opposed to thirty while practicing). 700 was exactly the minimum score I wanted, so I was quite content with it after how badly I felt right after taking it. However, I was unhappy that the book led me to believe that my score would be higher than it actually turned out to be.
In the future, I hope Kaplan models their practice tests more accurately to the level of questions on the test.
Disappointing.......2002-11-18
I purchased, and began studying with, this book three months prior to the examination. I went in on test day knowing the book cover-to-cover, but did not score above the average test score. As a straight-A physics student, I was highly disappointed with my results. Though the book did break down the basics, it did not go beyond those basics, and subsequently resulted in a less-than-comprehensive text. If you wish to take the Physics test, I would strongly recommend an AP Physics book, or even any other book.
Filled with errors........2002-06-05
Compared to the other Kaplan SAT II books this one was a major disappointment. The material was poorly covered and the book is filled with small errors. While all the material is correct, there are many typograpphical errors and other errors that should have been caught by editors. There are many typos in the otherwise very helpful practice tests. Many questions are mispelled and the answers in the back do not match up with the same questions in the test. Kaplan was very sloppy with this one. However since this is their first edition the second may be better.
Well organized and MORE sample tests.......2002-04-10
This guide is well-written making it easy to choose just the topics you are weakest in. It seems better than the competing Barrons books. Take the practice tests!

Boys will be boys. Which is to say they will be naughty. Up to No Good is a charming look at the "rascally things boys do," with fun black-and-white photos of a diverse assortment of lads and anecdotes related by now-grown men about their youthful exploits. (Last names have been omitted to protect the guilty.) John, born in 1959 in Connecticut, remembers kissing rocks and throwing them at his favorite girls. Peter (1964, New York) recalls making a nun scream by smearing ketchup on his shirt and pretending to have jumped out his Catholic school window. Mark (1960, Ohio) admits to pocketing a dissected pig snout in biology class and reattaching it to a school water fountain. The stories evoke a more innocent time, when sticks and stones were the principal weapons, and a prank could be forgiven if imaginative enough. Up to No Good makes a fine gift book for Dad or that particularly mischievous fellow we all know.
Book Description
Up to No Good is a collection of hysterical stories from grown men about the havoc they wreaked when they were boys. Nothing is sacred in this collection that makes Eddie Haskall look like a goody two shoes--terrified nuns, electric fences, science classes gone bad--the list goes on and on. The storytellers are purportedly "perfectly decent grown men," although judging from these tales that's hard to believe. It's impossible to flip through the pages without remembering some of your own pranks--and punishments--and cringing at the thought of the poor adults who had to grin and bear it. For all the former bad boys who've been ensconced in corner offices and carpool caravans across the country, here's a great way to jog a heretofore selective memory and recall a time when gross was good and mischief was there for the making.
Customer Reviews:
Laugh until you hurt.......2007-01-11
Up to No Good is an engrossing and funny book describing stunts young boys pull during their childhood. Yes, some of the stunts are dangerous, a few of them are unkind, but they are a reality with many boys, most of whom grow into respectable adults (like the boys featured in the book). We read portions of the book at a family reunion, and it started a whole round of tales of crazy boy stunts done by the boys in our families. Great book.
cruelty isn't "naughty".......2006-04-20
I'd already added this book to my shopping cart when I started looking at some of the pages and took it out. I'm not an animal-rights activist. I eat meat. But teasing humans, who might actually have a sense of humor, falls in a different moral category than killing animals because you can. No, I don't want to buy this for my nephew. Thank God I had daughters.
Enjoy & Share It.......2005-01-30
This is hilarious! I grew up with two brothers and these stories are "spot on". I only gave the book 4 stars because there are so many missing stories... I've given this book to several people and also just shared it with many friends. Every grown man that reads the book is immediately prompted to share his own stories. There should be a sequel...
Quick and fun to read.......2003-08-14
This is a fun book to make you laugh and to remind you that boys do have a mischievous streak (as if you needed reminding)! The author has collected accounts of the childhood pranks of men who are now (she claims) perfectly respectable adults. There is nothing deep or thought-provoking here, but I laughed out loud many times reading this. By the way, there is no way I would give this to my boys until they have outgrown their mischievous stage! The squeamish among us may wish that the author had left out some of her collection of stories, but overall it is reading that will tickle your funny bone. I wish it had been longer.
Perfect Father's Day Gift!.......2000-12-28
As a daughter of a wonderful father, I would like to think that I have a better glimpse into what he must have been like as a boy! We shared laughter while reading the book together and enjoyed blessed moment of closeness through the help of this sweet little book!
