Book Description

Great way to prepare.......2006-08-07
This book is a great way to prep for the test. The practice questions are challening and the answer explanations are clear. I'd recommend this book to anyone studying for the test.
HORRIBLE.......2006-05-06
The subject review is okay, but the practice tests are flawed and the answer keys are wrong! Also, the score conversion tables are inncorrect and include impossible raw scores. There are only 85 questions, but somehow the table is out of 90. DO NOT buy this product.

Smaller and lighter than the most compact laptop, Cybercafes is an indispensable guide for the traveler who wants to stay connected without the weight, hassle, and responsibility of lugging expensive computer machinery around the world. It's an extremely user-friendly little book. Organized by geographic regions, it also provides an index listing for dozens of cafés by name. For each café--take L'Heroïque Sandwich in Bordeaux, France, for example--the guide includes the street address, fax and phone numbers, and e-mail and Web-site address (if applicable); gives instructions on how to find it (near Grosse Cloche, in the case of L'Heroïque); tells the hours, prices (and which credit cards are accepted), and facility amenities (number of computers, availability of color, and black and white, printers), as well as any nearby places to visit. Other details are included too, such as whether the café has scanners, video-conferencing software, or America Online software, and whether the café offers any special discounts or freebies to bearers of the guidebook. The author explains cybercafé basics for first-timers, taking you step-by-step through opening an e-mail account and accessing it on the road, and she also describes the various sorts of cybercafés that exist, with their distinct atmospheres and clientele. Another bonus is a short list of great World Wide Web sites, including one that regularly updates the list of cybercafés. Small enough to fit in a back pocket, Cybercafes gives you the wherewithal to send and check e-mail in 65 countries, from Malta and Zimbabwe to Pakistan and Uruguay, and all across the U.S. It's a serious improvement over pawing through dusty, distant poste restantes, hoping for the rare letter that's addressed to you.
Customer Reviews:
Good for travelers but not RV's.......2000-02-01
I should have read the reviews better. This is not meant for people touring with RV's. One problem is that is catagorized by country then city. When we are pulling a trailer across country, we want to start with the geographical area at the state level (or smaller) then the town. Also only about 54 pages (of 308) are for sites in the US. That's a lot of pages an RVer will probably not us. In my other life I travel a lot worldwide. This book would be very useful for that situation.
I love this book! A must for e-mailers on the road!.......1998-05-07
This cybercafe guide is so wonderful for traveling! I took this compact book with me while on the road recently and found it very useful. It saved me a fortune in long distance calls that I would have otherwise had to make. I loved being able to keep in touch without having to worry about time zones. It was so easy to find the cafes by using the information listed. I was able to combine breakfast with keeping in touch with my family and the office. I also met some great locals! I'm taking it with me to Europe this summer for sure!

This is the first Internet guide written exclusively for the earth sciences. Whether this text is used for Internet homework exercises, lab exercises or strictly for students to explore on their own time, Earth Online will open students eyes to the wealth of information that is literally at their fingertips. The earth scientist rarely investigates a problem within the confines of just one discipline, thus the vast resources and connectivity of the Internet gives earth scientists an information framework to conduct their work. Earth Online provides the tool to get your students up and running on the Internet while providing guidance and exercises to immediately apply what they have learned by visiting the Earth Online home page and chatting with the author. Within a few hours, students will learn how to venture on virtual field trips around the planet, view the latest satellite images, explore educational sites, access up-to-the-minute research data, participate in online communities, and delve into the volcanoes of Hawaii; experiencing the dynamic processes within the earth sciences. The skills they will gain by working through Earth Online will be applicable to any follow-up earth science courses as well as any other college course.

Book Description
The book provides an extensive theoretical treatment of whistler-mode propagation, instabilities and damping in a collisionless plasma. This book fills a gap between oversimplified analytical studies of these waves, based on the cold plasma approximation, and studies based on numerical methods. Although the book is primarily addressed to space plasma physicists and radio physicists, it will also prove useful to laboratory plasma physicists. Mathematical methods described in the book can be applied in a straightforward way to the analysis of other types of plasma waves. Problems included in this book, along with their solutions, allow it to be used as a textbook for postgraduate students.

Book Description
Ted Hogwood's beloved Sarah, a Gibson L-4CES jazz guitar, is in the window of Topp Dollar Pawn. The only way he can get the money to rescue her is to accept an assignment from the AABC, a not nearly official branch of the United States Intelligence community. He is partnered with Jerry Kwiatkowski, master of the Hammond B-3 organ and chronic flatulence sufferer, to steal a boomerang containing secrets that should have died with J. Edgar Hoover over thirty years ago. It would be a simple job if only they knew what they were doing. And if a crossbow wielding assassin, two unemployed Australian women, the Director of Central Intelligence and a clothing optional ex-cheerleader were not also hot on the boomerang's trail.

Review from MyShelf.com reviewer Sheila Griffin.......2005-07-05
I would like to thank Sheila Griffin for this lovely review from MyShelf.com
Close Enough for Government Work
by Alan L. Hutcheson
Ted is having a really bad day. First he gets fired from his day job. Then he gets fired from his night job. Next he finds out that Sarah, his beloved guitar, has been pawned by his landlady. She demands three months back rent in exchange for the pawn ticket. To cap off a really crummy day, he runs into Jerry, an old "friend." The last time Ted saw Jerry they were in Chicago, running for their lives.
Understandably, Ted's welcome is somewhat less than cordial. But Jerry brings intriguing news. A secret government agency is in need of their services. They are willing to pay the men ten grand each. Only Ted's love for Sarah would cause him to get mixed up with this lunatic again.
Someone is selling government secrets to the Chinese. These secrets have been placed inside the hidden compartment of a boomerang. Opals are in there too. Before the feds can prevent it, the boomerang is stolen. Kenny may be only a petty thief, but he knows that the pretty stones are worth a bundle.
Kenny brags to his crazy momma about his big score. She demands a cut of the action. When he doesn't show at the meeting point, she goes after him dragging her shy sister along.
This book is a roller coaster ride of a mystery, filled with a cast of crazies that kept me chuckling from page one. I look forward to reading more books by this new author.

One Fun Book.......2005-05-10
The characters are what really stand out in this book. Ted, the retired NBA power forward/jazz guitarist; Jerry, the Hammond B-3 player who has a tendency to "borrow" automobiles; Doreen and Amelia, the Australian sisters who are complete opposites; Leslie, the albino assasin who is unlike any assasin, with or without pigmentation I have ever met in a book. There are many more, the author gives us broad, but thorough pictures of even the minor characters in a way that reminded me almost of Dickens.
The premise is silly, (I hope) having to do with a bit of skullduggery and poor housekeeping on the part of J. Edgar Hoover and how it comes to affect people over thirty years later, but then it fits in with the overall tone of the book. The author gets his digs in about government bureaucracy, the tastes of the book buying public, the insanity of "lakes" communities in the desert and soldier wannabes.
Fun Read with Many Laughs.......2005-02-07
This book had a way of making me keep reading to find out how these characters connect in the end. Hutcheson does a great job of providing insight into each character, and the combination of comedy, action and adventure, even murder mystery, complimented the real-life, relatable situations for the everyday reader. If you're looking for something refreshingly funny for your nightstand, this book is it!
Great read, funny book.......2005-01-22
I wasn't sure what to think when I first picked this one up, but it was by a new, local (Phoenix) author and so I figured I would check it out. What a pleasent surprise! It is a really funny, wacky read. The style is tongue in cheek but sweet at the same time. Great characters, especially Ted and Jerry the jazz guys, although I loved Doreen too. It's like one of my favorite movies, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" where all of the character collide at the end, only this has a much more explosive and funny ending. Check it out for a break from the same old same old.
