5 out of 5 stars A Must Read.......2001-03-08

One of the keys to successful trading is recognizing that the market is not a combatant. It is not a bloodstained arena, a boxing ring, a firefight, or even a physical thing. This book also helped me confirm something I have always suspected: trading should be easy. This is to say, the journey is hard and grueling, but once you get there the sense of conflict and adversity should be gone. Before-During and After-Hours. Congratulations!

5 out of 5 stars Maximizing the trader's state of mind is the key to success.......2001-03-08

Conflicts, contradictions and paradoxes in thinking can spell disaster for even a highly motivated, astute and well grounded trader. Through simple exercises, traders will learn how to think in terms of probabilities, and adopt the specific beliefs necessary to developing a winner's mindset. After-Hours and More!

5 out of 5 stars Aspiring traders can't afford to be without this book!.......2001-03-08

An excellent book on after-hour trading and technical analysis that cuts through all the hype surrounding this subject. Save yourself a lot of money and read this book BEFORE you make your mistakes!

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time with this book!!!!.......2001-02-18

Save your money, unless you don't know that you can still make trades before and after the normal, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, stock market hours of operation.

This book in my opinion doesn't do much other than to explain, you can trade after hours if you choose a broker that allows you access to the ECN's which operate longer hours then the normal market times. They fill the rest of the book with explanations of charting, and other technical analysis, and there are many other books that do that much better. I found nothing on techniques of trading after hours, which this book implies will make easy.

I would sell this book used, but my ethics prevent me from hoisting this on you.

5 out of 5 stars Don't let the title fool you........2000-11-09

After-Hours Trading Made Easy goes way beyond after-hours trading. It is not just a after-hours trading manual but a true stock market primer.

Chapter 10 alone is worth the price of the book. It includes Duarte's Super Seven Market Forecaster, a proprietary buy/sell indicator. If the surest way to make money is to invest in the market the second must be not to loose principle. The tables tell the tale, this indicator keeps investors from going against the market.

3 out of 5 stars Doing Business with Japanese Men.......2004-08-30

Contains a great deal of information that may or may not be useful to anyone, male or female, doing business in Japan depending on the situation. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt. Seems to be focused on people in relatively large companies doing business with relatively large companies. Would have been enhanced by a thorough editing by someone familiar with Japan and things Japanese as it is marred by some obvious mistakes. Statements about "tea leaves" and "cookies" being used in a tea ceremony, "peanut sauce" being one of the two common sauces used in the shabu shabu dish, etc. make one wonder about the veracity of other statements.

5 out of 5 stars Prepare for the worst! Japan is still male-dominated society.......1999-12-28

As a Japanese businesswoman working for some 20 years, I believe this book will help a lot for those women doing business with Japanese men. Especially those who are new to Japan. Unfortunately, Japanese business world is still male-oriented, and most of Japanese businessmen don't know how to deal with women in business. One of the Japanese businesswomen's complaints is, "Japanese men treat business women only in three manners. Treat them as their wives, daughters, or hostesses at the night bars. They just don't know how to treat them as a collogue or business partnerc" This book consists of actual experiences of many foreign women and how they dealt with. Those experiences are no exaggeration from my eyes. It will be a good preparation to know what you may confront in Japan.

    4 out of 5 stars Good.......1999-10-13

The title may ward of half of the population, and that is unfortunate. There are lots of great points that apply to business etiquette in general and are not unique to "women doing buisness" in Japan. The author implies that the foreign woman should take every advantage of her feminin charms on the helpless Japanese Industry, I would only suggest common sense.

    3 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......1999-05-10

I was so excited to see this title when I was sent to Tokyo (with 2 American men) on very short notice! I read this book cover-to-cover in preparation. When I got to Tokyo, I was surprised to experience a much more contemporary, advanced culture than had been described. For example, the attire suggestions were completely wrong (and sometimes contradictory). You won't go wrong with classic American business attire. I found that by paying close attention to your Japanese counterparts' mannerisms, being slightly more aggressive than usual (I live in NYC, that may be much more aggressive than I think!), and having someone well-respected introduce you to whomever you will be working with will be very helpful. It also would have been useful to learn more about the Japanese tendency to agree with you, when they really don't understand what you're talking about!

5 out of 5 stars A must-have for any woman doing business with the Japanese.......1998-07-25

A friend loaned me this book, and within minutes, I knew I had to have a copy for myself. Particularly useful for the female executive, this book covers how to establish your authority (and how to handle Japanese men who ignore you and insist on talking to your male subordinates), how to dress, socializing, gift giving, the business card rituals, where the power seat is in the conference room, how to handle inappropriate behavior and sticky situations, communication and correspondence protocol, and numerous other subjects. I am appalled to discover how many mistakes I have made in my business relationships with Japanese companies, but now am sufficiently enlightened to avoid many in the future. If you are female and do business with the Japanese, whether in Japan or in your home country, you must have this book.

    Book Description

The Global Business Series is designed to ease the process of doing business abroad. Though each book concerns a different country, they all follow the same general format by describing how climates and geography shape unique cultures, which are perpetuated through insidious, subconscious imprinting of children by the family and school. Cultural conditioning is so powerful that it defines thought, determines behavior, and limits expression. If you understand your counterpart's cultural conditioning, you will have a great advantage. An understanding of how foreign cultures dominate and permeate foreign economies, politics, and business is vital for negotiating and managing abroad.

The books in the Global Business Series do more than show how to make business use of an understanding of foreign cultures. They serve as springboards to international business by providing information on sources for help, travel tips, living conditions, and ways to overcome cultural shock and enjoy your foreign assignment.

i found the above review suspect because i found the same exact review - WORD FOR WORD - attached to ralph thomas's "how to make money as a process server", also given 1 star by the same person. i haven't read either of these books. i didn't read ralph thomas's book because of this bad review. YOU might want to ignore it and try the book for yourself.

1 out of 5 stars Valor attempt - leaves a lot to be desired!.......1998-04-16

The author makes a very bad attempt at trying to provide the reader with the needed information to start a business of their own as a Process Server. I got the impression that he was re-enacting (walking you through) the steps of a personal experiece he had undergone. And then decided put together a poorly writen little book for money.

There were a lot of misspelled words, pure grammer, and a lot left unsaid - untaught.

The author makes more than a few (annoying) attempts at the "YOU NEED to BUY SOMETHING MORE" tactic to up sell the reader on other publications he has authored, and interupts the readers flow of thought on more than a few occasions, by inserting his little advertisments for these "other" publications as well as (unrelated) services, such as his brother's (printing services?)... a little too often!

The author also shows his lack of expertise as a marketing guru, and makes a very poor attempt to show the reader how he/she should go about getting clients - Very outdated information. I got the impression that the author "Never actually got his process service business off the ground.

I never quite got the feeling that I had the whole story, or that the author had a handle on, or experienced enough "know-how" to instruct anyone in this field.

The author/book requires the individual to do more then his/her share of personal, and Legal research. And may just provide the novice with enough information to be dangereous!
