The author has written a simple to use guide for internal auditors to conduct the process audits required by the new Automotive Standards. This pocket guide is easy to use on the floor duirng audits to help guide the auditor to look for continaul improvement. Several examples are given in the back of the book that help bring everything together. I highly recommend this for anyone who has to conduct an audit to TS.

This book contains methods for the installation and removal of practically every protecting group you can think of, and likely some you've never encountered. Most methods are referenced to articles containing representative procedures, saving valuable time scouring the literature. It is compact, well-organized and reasonably priced. Along with March's Advanced Organic Chemistry, this book is a must have for any organic chemist.

An introductory chapter outlines protecting group strategy, relevant aspects of functional group reactivity, temporary protection, and introduces the concept of protecting group devices as an aid to unifying the wide range of available methods. The rest of the book is divided on the basis of broad classes of the experimental conditions that lead to cleavage of each protecting group (acid/electrophile, base/nucleophile, oxidising or reducing agent). The treatment differs from traditional texts in that it places the emphasis on making a connection between the fundamental mechanisms of organic chemsitry - ionisation, substitution, addition, elimination, oxidation and reduction, etc. - and how a particular protecting group can best be selected in a given situation.

Split Land of Liberty presents a broadbrush black humor look at violence, religion, and sex in America in the middle 1990s. An escaped convict named Canno is looking for the perfect religion in which to die. For him, this would be one that offers the best deal for eternity. He reasons that we shop around for such temporary dwellings as houses, condos, and apartments, so why not shop for the place where we might have to spend eternity. As Canno travels across America, he is shocked by all the confrontations and violence he encounters. However, he soon adapts in a way that he least expects. Canno’s quest takes him to such places as San Francisco, Loggersheadville, Las Vegas, New York City, Enfirmo, Bradenton FL, Interstate Highway 95, and the Niukiuke Indian Reservation and Luxury Hotel. The confrontations and violence that Canno encounters include rival Viking biker gangs, loggers and environmentalists, pro-lifers and pro-choicers, cowboys and Indians, liberals and conservatives, smokers and non-smokers, abusive husbands and murderous wives, and many, many more. With a loaded shotgun in his mouth and the law quickly closing in on him, the book’s conclusion finds Canno deciding about his future—immediate and long term.

Everybody shops around a bit.......2002-07-13

Piedmonte has a great imagination! Free association collides with black humor and allegory to create an exquisitely enjoyable read. I sympathized and identified with Canno as he took both his lumps and his pleasures while trying to find the religion that offered him the best deal for eternity. And, I thought I'd die laughing when Little Joe from Tokyo tried to mug Canno, Matt, and Irabella. Good job!

splitland by our own hand.......2001-07-24

At first, this fast paced, highly entertaining novel seems to be a tale of violence that permeates our society at all most mind numbing prevalance. To those of us jaded by the media's focus on crime and pessimistic outcomes, the author manages to use humor effectively in the dire circumstances his central character,Cannon, faces at breakneck speed. I especially enjoyed the spirtual quest intertwined with Cannon's survival techniques. Ultimately, the more imporant theme than the obvious "america is a violent society" is "america reaction to a violent society". There is much to consider when you delve into the behaviors of every character and their impact on Cannon.

This book is worth at least two "reads". First, for entertainment. Second, for philosophical musing.

Review of Split Land of Liberty:

Split Land of Liberty written by Michael A Piedmonte takes a satirical look at the violence in our society. Canno's plan when he escaped from prison was to find which religion would provide the best eternal life after death.

Because his sentence in prison was for a robbery and the popular belief was that he has stashed away the money from the robbery, the criminal elements all were looking for him to get the stolen money. He is subjected to a great deal of bodily harm during his travels. The police were always after him. The criminal elements were always after his stashed money. His interface with the prostitutes, the at-war motorcycle gangs, the playground thugs, incompetent hospitals and doctors, the bounty hunters, the protesters, corrupt police, old family feuds, dishonest stock brokers, the hi-jacked airliner and the escape, other criminals at large, all resulted in great physical and painful harm.

In spite of the violence, the novel is enjoyable reading because you know that Canno will miraculously find a way to get out of the current difficultly and life threatening situation.

The humor of the novel is accented with the names of the characters, and the superman qualities of Canno.

The writer is very easy to read and I highly recommend Split Land of Liberty for enjoyable reading.
