I open this book every time I do a valuation. It is a great resource when you need to refresh your memory. The example of a professional practice valuation has been especially helpful. It's probably a little much for the business owner wanting to estimate the value of his/her business, but I would definitely recommend it to a professional.

The contrasting examples of microwave plasmas given in this volume demonstrate their capability of not only covering the totality of expressed needs in that particular field, but in many others. For example the ions and reactive neutral species, indispensable for the synergetic effects in etching and deposition processes can be used in metallurgical treatment, and for materials processing in general. They also have the ability to dissociate molecules and excite atoms as required in analytical chemistry where the information on the constituent concentrations is obtained through optical spectroscopy or mass spectrometry. Finally, microwave plasmas can supply the photons for laser and lighting applications. It is noteworthy that microwave plasmas cover an impressive pressure range of eight orders of magnitude from 10
-3 Pa (10
-5 torr) to above atmospheric pressure. The versatility of microwave plasmas, their moderate cost, and their ease of implementation particularly appeal to the industrial entrepreneur.
As well as providing a review of current developments, the work proposes a synthesis on microwave discharges, laying out the corresponding physical references without developing too much plasma theory. It will be of interest both to the user, who may not be overly concerned about plasma science, and to the plasma expert, who may wish to redirect his interest towards plasma applications, such as materials processing.

THIS BOOK TRULY CAPTURED THE ESSENCE OF CATHOLIC GRADE SCHOOL. I COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN AND FOUND MYSELF LAUGHING ALOUD AT THE SIMILARITIES TO MY OWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE. THE WIT OF THE AUTHOR IS UNMISTAKABLE IN HIS RETELLING OF WHAT MANY OF US HAVE EXPERIENCED. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY IF YOU PICK THIS BOOK UP. "Cageball, Poker and the Atomic Wedgie" is an excellent little book. It's author, Val Brkich, expertly captures the timeless quality of one's school days in this succinct, well-written story.
The book follows catholic school student, Isaac, as he endures all the difficult aspects of life in education: bullies, tests, and worst of all, teachers!
Brkich's writing style is refreshing; combining sarcasm, humor and the tender moments of very real adolescent experience. The book does have plenty of "laugh-out-loud moments", and they are well placed and effectively keep the pace brisk and enjoyable; however, it is the descriptive and crisp writing that really makes the story. Brkich has a unique ability to write as if he is in the room speaking to you. This creates a wonderfully personable quality to the story: it's like spending a fun evening reminiscing with old friends. I found myself frequently agreeing audibly to the words on the page, drawing plenty of strange looks from my fellow commuters!
While the story is clearly autobiographical, the author's experiences are universally enjoyable. School was school, from the "horrible" teachers to the games we played to annoy them. And "Cageball" is an exceptional trip down memory lane that will help you to relive, remember and most importantly, laugh at, your own school days!

Schoolyard Memories.......2003-12-05
I sat down to read Cageball, Poker and The Atomic Wedgie without really knowing what to expect. I am an avid reader and at some point in time I have come across many types of styles and formats, I find it difficult however to conveniently slot this book into any one of those areas. I say that in a good way. The writing style, subject matter and format of the book was very interesting to me. The author found a way to blend sarcasm and humor into a unique narrative style that kept me entertained. That is all well and good, but to me the bottom line is that a book is only as good as it's content - no matter how interesting the writing style may be.
That is where Cageball really shines. I think that the ultimate goal of a book of this type is to try to strike a chord with the reader and make them feel as if they can relate to the characters and the situation. I found that, for me, the author did suceeed in bringing me back to my childhood. It made me remember how I thought as a gradeschooler as I found myself thinking over and over, "yeah, yeah, I remember doing that...." The book provided me a welcome escape from "adulthood" and stirred up all kinds of fond memories. I think I do know Isaac and his friends only in my world they had different names.
I think the time period of Isaac's life that the author has effectively recaptured is another plus to the book. I mean who wouldn't want to escape back to that time in their lives? Think about it. What Earth shattering worries did most of us have at that time?
Cageball would make a great movie along the lines of "A Christmas Story" and hopefully will achieve the wide audience it deserves.
