In recent years, Supply Chain Management (SCM) has become one of the most widely discussed issues on top management`s agenda. One essential precondition for the implementation of SCM concepts are powerful information systems. Many manufacturing companies deploy the logistics modules of the SAP R/3 system. In 1997 SAP enlarged its focus beyond Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and started an SCM initiative, which resulted in the Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) system. Today, APO has become one of the main components of the mySAP.com solutions. This book describes the principles and methods of intra- and inter-company SCM with reference to Release 4.6 of the SAP R/3 and to Release 3.0 of the SAP APO system. It also discusses potential future developments of these widely used software systems. The final chapter of the book contains an annotated overview of the most valuable online resources dealing with SCM.

Poorly written.......2007-05-16

I purchased this book to understand how SAP manages the supply chain, but am pretty disappointed with it. The book apparently was translated from German and is not well written. It feels like the majority of the book is sited from other sources (there are 17 pages of references if this gives you any hint). They will throw five quotes into the same paragraph in some cases. This makes the book very hard to read, it just doesn't flow. Snipits are inserted that really don't fit. It feels like the author's don't really have anything to contibute, they just grabbed other quotes and through a book together. I will probably resell this book and find one that actually makes sense when you read it. Sorry, but I recommend looking elsewhere if you actually want to learn something.

One of the worst books I have ever read.......2007-01-07

If you are an SAP consultant, this books is not for you. It may give you some superficial information on supply chain if you a SAP user, but I think one of your SAP core team IT folks may be able to teach you that in a few hours. So, don't waste your money on this book, just talk to your SAP support team if you want to understand the process, or pick up another book that would really teach you supply chain management.

talks about mySAP.com as a portal and marketplace.......2006-09-22

The book seems best for a newcomer to SAP's software. It describes at a fairly high level the very complex set of packages that SAP offers.

There is a topic that might be of especial interest to some readers. mySAP.com. This is an enterprise-wide portal plus a marketplace. In the computer press, it has received wide publicity. Partly because it gave employees a more role-based and more personalised view into their corporate resources. While the marketplace aspect was a reaction to the rise of the b2b startups during the dot com era. Though most of those startups failed, they did propagate the idea of a convenient marketplace on the Internet. The book shows how SAP implemented this.

Okay, for expaling SAP in Supply Chain.......2006-06-22

I have worked for SAP America some time ago in the module of CRM however when I changed careers and went into automotive supply chain, I needed to understand my work. Well, I purchased this book. It's OKAY for understand supply chain in SAP but find another book for learning the functinal processes, this book explains the business process. Too, the author does give a good overview of how supply chain management is used in the SAP environment. It would be a good reference point if your company is implementing SCM in SAP.

Sincerely I was thinking this book was more hands on tool than a theoretical review on supply chain. Even though those concepts are very important I feel that more technical matters on how to operate the SCM would had been useful for the readers.

Chapters 1-2 introduce students to the equipment, record keeping, and safety of the laboratory. Chapters 3-6, and 8 are designed to introduce students to laboratory techniques needed to perform all experiments. In Chapters 7 and 9 through 20, students are required to use the techniques to synthesize compounds and analyze their properties. In Chapter 21, students are introduced to multi-step syntheses of organic compounds, a practice well known in chemical industry. In Chapter 23, students are asked to solve structures of unknown compounds. The new chapter 24 introduces a meaningful experiment into the textbook that reflects the increasing emphasis on bioorganic chemistry in the sophomore-level organic lecture course. This experiment not only gives students the opportunity to accomplish a mechanistically interesting and synthetically important coupling of two a-amino acids to produce a dipeptide but also provides valuable experience regarding the role of protecting groups in effecting synthetic transformations with multiple functionalized molecules.

This book writen by Gilbert and Martin provides an excellent help to the student who is currently studying organic chemistry. It is full of useful information and it provides assistance for the completion of the organic labs. it is full of helpful pointers and they provide alot of useful knowledge

This book was very helpful at a time when I often felt overwhelmed and not sure where to turn. It's an excellent resource not only for the Pagan community, but for all who are involved in pallitive care or who are moving through the death and grief of losing a loved one. Blessed Be.

For the Serious Pagan Clergy!.......2007-03-09

With all we do as Pagan Clergy, we tend to forget we have a responsibility to help in the transition process. This book gives us means and ways of being True Clergy in a tough time for those we work with as well as ourselves.

I highly recommend this book. Tough subject matter? Yes it is. Want to be taken as a serious clergy member as other groups are? Then read this book and do the work. Time to step up to the plate and realize we are also doing the same work as other faiths, no venue required as this book states, just a call to serve!! Any tradition can work with this book after some thought, I urge you to do so.

Exceptional look at death, be it you, your friend/family, or just anticipating the future........2006-04-21

I cannot say enough good things about this book!!! The layout of the book is very approachable. The personal stories, rituals, prayers, songs, chants, poems, and meditations are invaluable!

I especially enjoyed the story "Bo's Cremation" by Patricia Michael. The details given of his life and death are so personal and helpful. The instructions (and examples of trial/error) in obtaining a loved one's body, keeping it on dry ice, and setting up your own viewing and cremation ceremony was amazing.

I was also thoroughly drawn to the story "Aric Arthur Graf Dies (or Rickie Goes to Become an Ancestor)" by Donald L. Engstrom. This story was very intimate and striking. The idea of the author going into trance and being able to astrally project himself with his loved one on another plane about to cross over was mesmerizing.

The items about using the Tarot with death related activities was helpful. The last section of the book gives fabulous concrete things you can do do make sure all your "things" are in order for your own death. This should be read and acted upon by all, because you just never know when you may have to go (like one section of the book says--always keep your bags packed).

Being fairly new to the Wiccan religion still, I feel like I have a more concrete understanding in the Pagan beliefs of death and dying. I feel more enlightened about the subject in general as well. I found the section on suicide to help answer a lot of questions I had about that. The book doesn't just make it a cut-and-dried topic either, it talks about the intricies of suicide based on depression, long term health illness, and other topics.

It's been said in other reviews, but I must reiterate--This book belongs in EVERY Pagan home. The sooner the better.

What Is Remembered Lives.......2005-11-20

Sadly, I bought this book upon receiving the news that a friend's teenage daughter had been diagnosed with an incurable fatal illness. As one who came to Paganism by my own choice, I had no reference yet for how Pagans dealt with end of life passage.

It turns out it was that very reason that Starhawk and other members of Reclaiming wrote this book. Very few modern Pagans are raised in their chosen spirituality and often find they have no traditions or practices to guide them when dealing with the loss of a loved one.

This book is not a strict step-by-step ritual guide, but a sharing of experience that includes blessings, prayers and ritual details. The collected writings share how various people have dealt with the situations around long illness as well as sudden losses. There are accounts and suggestions for rituals not only to say farewell or bury the dead, but for how those still alive can honor those who have died and address their own grieving and healing.

I found the stories shared in this book to be incredibly personal and yet at the same time practical. I feel I will have a foundation of knowledge from which to draw when I have to deal with this issues and changes in my own family and circle of friends.

What an enchanting book this is! I found the characters warm and captivating, enjoyed the pace and the excitement, the sense of "what's going to happen now?" I felt as though I knew that little fishing village and loved the way those erotic golden statuettes brought sensuality to a community that had been under the thumb of the dictator, Francisco Franco, thus making it a true village of "Miraculous Love."
