Through the years I have visited the financial section of book stores, somethimes purchasing a publication that looks interesting, only to find that I would need a degree in finance to understand it. What a pleasure to find "Funding Your Dreams". A book that is written so that one can understand its concepts without all the 5 dollar words that send me to the dictionary every other sentence! Carol writes with knowledge, compassion and understanding of the lay readers needs. Most of all she gives sound, solid advice with suggestions for practical application. I wish I had had this book twenty years ago but it's never to late to start. This book is a must read for everyone, regardless of monetary assets. I also appreciate the balance that Carol presents to the reader. Yes we need to save, yes we need to plan for our children, our aging parents, and our own retirement, but we can also need to give ourselves permission to set aside some funds for our own enjoyment. Carol obviously has a zest for life and her energy comes through in her writing. This book should be on the coffee table of every home, and should be read by every generation that lives with that coffee table! This book would make a wonderful gift for young couples ( or graduates) starting out as well as those of us in the baby boomer generation. The best financial book ever!.......2001-05-31

This is the first book that really made a difference for me financially! My family and I have met several times to discuss and plan our dreams and funds. We have been able to brainstorm and come up with ideas financially for each family member, with two of their dreams already accomplished. Even my nine year old is happy (he got an increase in allowance) and is telling all his friends to have their parents get the book!

I loved how the author "speaks directly to you" rather than just giving financial information. I hightly recommend this unique book that is simply put, direct, and actually affects changes in your financial status! It's a must for single parents like me!

There is no clear-cut causal relationship between international trade, agricultural expansion and tropical deforestation. Academics, policy makers and the public are all tempted by simplistic solutions to complex problems.

In order to establish the true causal factors involved in this critical area of environmental decline the authors of this study present case studies ranging over three continents. Using ample and detailed statistics the book shows that the focus on analysis of deforestation must be applied as much to the misguided policies of national and regional authorities as to the forces of trade and globalization. Further, a critical perspective on the historical context of human use of forest areas must be adopted, looking at such issues as systems of land tenure. The primary aim of the book is to highlight the need to seek solutions in far-reaching institutional and policy reforms if the problem of tropical deforestation is to be tackled effectively.

A great review book for anyone who will be taking the New York State Regents in Chemistry. This book has tons of review questions from the regents with explanations and answers. It might not be as detailed as a big fat text book, but overall, a great tool for quick reviews.

This book(blue) contains way too much information, it would be a good guide to use during the school year but for cramming students this is definitely not the book the buy. Also, the review section answers are filled with mistakes, almost every other section has one or more wrong answers (the reading contradicts with the review session answers). I wouldn't recommend this book but for a reference it would be okay.

Book Description

The themes of the book focus on the origin, development, interactions, and migrations of the Scythians, in Eurasia and their relationships with the environment of 1st millennium BC. Without doubt, the environment played an important role in the life of ancient nomadic populations, forming the basis of their economies and influencing various aspects of their mode of life.

The main focus is on the huge landmass of Eurasia where apart from global-scale environmental changes, local environmental change, including the physical landscape of forest, steppe, forest-steppe and so on changed. During the 1st millennium BC, important cultural processes occurred throughout the steppe belt, which eventually resulted in the emergence of "Scythian-type" cultures. The Scythian sites have been investigated since the 18th century, resulting in the discovery of outstanding archaeological assemblages and works of art which are displayed in the best museums of the world. Numerous puzzles relating to the Scythians' origins, interactions, migrations and their detailed chronology are discussed and new data presented.

Interest in the theory of relativistic particles with arbitrary spins is increasing. One of the reasons is that SUSY models require superpartners, i.e. additional fields of particles with higher spins. In particular, it is important to take into account particle with spin 3/2 - gravitino which appears in cosmological models based on supergravity and in the theory of inflation of the universe.

This book deals with fields which possess different spins so, that there is an additional internal symmetry of such schemes. The main feature of theories with multi-spin is that transformations of the Lorentz and internal symmetry groups do not commute each other. So, parameters of the group are tensors but not scalars as in (the more common) gauge theories. This kind of symmetry is also different from supersymmetry where group parameters are not scalars. The difference is that in this case the algebra of generators of the symmetry is closed without adding the generators of the Poincaré group. Consideration of schemes of fields with multi-spin possess some attractive features and avoid some difficulties; but the price of this is the presence of the indefinite metric. It should be noted that some quantum theories of gravity also require the introduction of an indefinite metric. The localization of parameters of the internal symmetry group leads to the gauge fields and field interactions. In Part II solutions are found for equations for particles with different spins in external classical and quantized electromagnetic fields, as well as the interaction of fields with multi-spin with external electromagnetic fields of different configurations.

This book is a penetrating look into the world of an intelligent, emotional boy trying to make sense of a world of adult hypocrisy. Although the book is wickedly funny and irreverent in parts, it never strays far from its serious (and very worthwhile) central theme - how to be a decent human being in a false and callous world. As is the case in real life, the young hero finds that there are few, if any, reliable guides to help him in this, and he is forced to find his own way. Although there are some passages that could have been improved by a good editor, the writing style is excellent and the story moves. I recommend this book highly, and watch for more books from this author!

Not quite Catcher in the Rye but..........2000-07-09

Not quite Catcher in the Rye but if you felt an affinity with Holden Caulfield then the character of Harry Taft might just win you over. There is a story in all this but it's more of a character study that a padded out plot. The characters are pretty well fleshed out - even many of the minor characters - and the caricatures are kept just the right side of believable. Put it this way, this is the first book in weeks that I've read right through to the end and it says a lot for any author that they can hold my interest and not have me skipping paragraphs let alone pages. Americans will obviously pick up on all the subtle nuances that a Briton like me might miss if he didn't have an American wife to consult but that's a minor gripe.
