Customer Reviews:
Here's the entire book in 5 sentences........2007-03-09
1) If you have no money, don't invest.
2) Don't invest money you can't afford to lose.
3) You have to spend money to make money
4) If you're poor don't even think of investing
5) Thanks for buying my book now I'm richer.
Thanks for the info Bentley.
Exactly what I needed!.......2007-01-26
Regardless whether you're daytrading or not, it's full of layman's terminology in order to understand the complex nuts and bolts of trading in general. Yes, there can be information overload as one reviewer stated ... which is why I found this book invaluable. It's technical, without being stodgy and complicated. The sidebar definitions are fabulous for quick access to terms. I found it to be logically and succinctly organized ... and allows the reader to learn as little or as much as they need. Ms. Bentley states up front that daytrading may not be for the lighthearted, but even daytraders needed to start somewhere. With many individuals trading from their desktop computers, it's important to learn as quickly as possible with as much correct information as possible. Take one trade at a time, utilize the directions ... do the "faux" tutorials on other sites where you don't have to lose money. Then if you find daytrading IS for you, "Online Day Trading" can be your bible. Thanks greatly, Ms. Bentley ... it helped me considerably!
Read it, but You will need more specific strategies.......2005-08-04
This book is ok for a trader that needs to start from scratch. But you will be needing more specific trading strategies.
Keep in mind that the stock market doesn't really care if you are beginner. The rules and the trading opportunities are the same for every one. When you trade you compete against more seasoned traders, therefore you MUST go beyond the basics and employ a clear strategy to make your buy and sell decisions.
There are many "fantastic" strategies outhere, but you need to test them in order to discover which ones help you the most. That's part of your homework as a stocktrader. Test, test and test again.
Complicated systems that rely on a "boat load" of technical indicators can make you slow, and being slow in this game can be as dangerous as not knowing what to do in the first place.
I think the worst thing that can happen to a beginner trader is to get information overload. It's better to go step by step, and test a simple strategy that can show you how to focus on concrete ways to make money.
Fortunatly there are some good sites on the web today that can show you how to trade in a practical and effective way. One of those sites is Stress Free Traders ( StressFreeTraders com)
In the end, day trading is all about buying and selling according to your knowledge FILTER. Once you master and follow your proven filter parameters like a clock, you can expect to start making serious amounts of cash on a consistent basis.
Not worth it.......2004-11-26
This book was a waste of money. It's meant for beginners that aren't familiar with the terms and concepts of stock trading in general. If you don't already know these terms or the basic concepts you shouldn't attempt to day trade. If you do know these terms and concepts, then this book is a waste. The day traders survival guide is a much better intro book and I highly recommend it over this one. Other recommended trading books to start you off are High Probability Trading by Marcel Link and Trading for a Living by Alexander Elder.
Good book for explaning the nuts and bolts of day trading.......2003-11-29
I wanted a book that would take me step by step through all the technical day trader jargon and explain what all of it meant. Getting Started in Online Day Trading by Kassandra Bentley was just what the doctor, or in this case, the beginning day trader ordered. She takes a very solid approach to explaining what the stock market is all about, what day trading is all about, the procedures of doing day trading and the pitfalls of day trading. She is not shy in pointing out other books in order to gather good day trading information. This shows that she is very open to learning herself. Her book does a good job of not assuming that the reader already knows all about day traderese. There are plenty of sidebar notes that refer to terms and phrases within each chapter. This is a very good way of reinforcing what your have just read. One specific area that was very clear in explaination are the terms bid and ask. While other books use these terms almost interchangably and do not explain correctly who is the buyer and who is the seller, she does an excellent job of clarification on this subject. This point is probably obvious to old pros, but her insight that a beginner is not savy to these nuiances is good thinking on her part. She also goes into some detail on charting and day trading methodology, but not too much in depth. If anything, this was the only negative about this book. However, after reading other books on day trading, I believe that this book is the most straight forward and understandable of all of them. The book is well thought out and very concise.

Customer Reviews:
Poor.......2001-02-11
The book touches upon certain investment subjects such as TA FA and news reaction in very limited detail which in my opinion could be a serious disadvantage to the newcomer with naive knowledge gained from the book. The book should of stuck to giving an overview of what is on offer on the Internet It should definately of included a chapter to the risks associated with investing online. I think the reference made to Momentum investments is also not correct.
A nice intro and overview of US online investment services.......1999-07-20
A well organized book about US online investment services. But I would like a more extensive coverage of mutual fund and european investment services, maybe it will show up in the 2.edition?
I like the combination of this book and "Common Sense on Mutual Funds" by mr. Bogle, they are complementary!
An Investor's Guide to the Internet.......1999-04-23
This book shows the beginning online investing the different tools and services which are available on the graphically rich information superhighway. The book is well organized, there are a lot of pictures and a lot of website addresses.

Book Description
Here is the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatment of one of the hottest areas of chemical research. The treatment of fundamental kinetics and photochemistry will be highly useful to chemistry students and their instructors at the graduate level, as well as postdoctoral fellows entering this new, exciting, and well-funded field with a Ph.D. in a related discipline (e.g., analytical, organic, or physical chemistry, chemical physics, etc.).
Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere provides postgraduate researchers and teachers with a uniquely detailed, comprehensive, and authoritative resource. The text bridges the "gap" between the fundamental chemistry of the earth's atmosphere and "real world" examples of its application to the development of sound scientific risk assessments and associated risk management control strategies for both tropospheric and stratospheric pollutants.
Key Features
*Serves as a graduate textbook and "must have" reference for all atmospheric scientists
* Provides more than 5000 references to the literature through the end of 1998
* Presents tables of new actinic flux data for the troposphere and stratospher (0-40km)
* Summarizes kinetic and photochemical date for the troposphere and stratosphere
*Features problems at the end of most chapters to enhance the book's use in teaching
* Includes applications of the OZIPR box model with comprehensive chemistry for student use
Customer Reviews:
Only book on the market.......2007-03-09
Unfortunately, there aren't really any other atmospheric textbooks out there that covers the vast amount of material which this text covers. The greatest flaw in this book is that it has got to have one of the worst index i have ever seen! It is very difficult searching for certain topics in the book. So unless you are not ready to create your own index for this book, you shouldn't buy the book. Other than that it is a pretty informative book.
New Horizons.......2000-05-02
The scope and technical detail of this seminal work covering the cutting edge in Atmospheric chemistry is beyond remarkable. Just the number of references is mind boggling. The book presents the material in a very readable and understandable style. The authors have kept the reader in mind. They also add surprising levity on occasion and show a keen grasp of areas outside chemistry. I know of no other work in this field that is more current, comprehensive, and helpful. If only other scientific works were as thorough and readable.

Book Description
It was at Aldershot—to be more exact, in the dressing-room of the Queen’s Avenue Gymnasium at Aldershot—that the conversation took place. From east and west, and north and south, from Dan even unto Beersheba, the representatives of the public schools had assembled to box, fence, and perform gymnastic prodigies for fame and silver medals.
Download Description
'You have been misinformed, I fear, Sir Alfred. I have not trespassed in your grounds for--ah--a considerable time.' The Head could not resist this thrust. In his unregenerate 'Varsity days he had been a power at the Union, where many a foeman had exposed himself to a verbal counter from him with disastrous results. Now the fencing must be done with buttons on the foils.
Customer Reviews:
Not just because it's the first, but because it's good! .......2006-06-05
Apparently the very first book he managed to get published - but a far cry from being the last! And no wonder: I won't be surprising any of his legion of fans by mentioning that Wodehouse is wonderful. Who can turn a phrase like him? The dialogue is gorgeous. The descriptions likewise.
I think some have criticised this book because of its `Boy's own' public school style, but for me that was just an added bonus. Besides, Wodehouse never let a plot drag him too far from his all conquering wit and charming characters. Perhaps that happens a little towards the end of this story, but it's the smallest distraction from a constantly amusing book.
I consciously went back to the start and intend to work my way through as much of his mountain of publications as possible. One handy thing about doing this is that since the royalty sun set for Pelham Grenville some time ago you can download a stack of his books gratis at Gutenberg, and his style works very nicely with dipping in and out on your PDA in queues or wherever.
For Wodehouse completists only.......2005-04-07
While pleasant enough, this book lacks the careful plotting and pointed characterization on which Sir Pelham worked so hard in his later books.
The coincidences are there, not because they're funny, but to save the author a small amount of work. I confess that I had to keep jumping back in the book to keep the various characters straight, and I never did discern much, if any, plot. Wodehouse poked fun at plotless, coincidence-driven novels in his later books; perhaps he was trying to atone for his first one.
The Pothunters - Wodehouse's First Novel.......2003-05-18
There is a glowing review appended as an afterword to the story in this novel about schoolboy adventures in England. That review would be 5 stars, and I would probably agree, except I want to save 5 stars for later Wodehouse works such as Luck of the Bodkins. I discovered Wodehouse because Douglas Adams praises him in his final book, The Salmon of Doubt. I love Wodehouse and think of him as an older, even more English version of Adams. In Pothunters, some trophies are stolen from a boarding school, and the adventures of the boys involved are intricate, extremely well written, and quite entertaining. Wodehouse peppers his prose with extremely clever phrasing, which causes me to laugh out loud. In the Pothunters I only laughed once per chapter. In Luck of the Bodkins it was every other page. Still, this book is worth the reading!
Wodeghouse's first novel shows early signs of his genius.......1998-02-13
Written in 1902, The Pothunters was the first novel of P.G. Wodehouse's 70-year career. As might be expected, it is somewhat immature, but shows signs of his eventual genius.
The Pothunters is set is an English boy's school at the turn of the centurry, an environment Wodehouse was familiar with. As such, it was written with those young readers in mind, and is consequently may not be very interesting to the modern reader.
The plot concerns some stolen prizes (the "pots" of the title). As a mystery, the book is not particularly well done, but the characterizations of the heroic though mischieveous boys would appeal to the young readers of the time.
As is the case in many of Wodehouse's works, characterization and plot are secondary to his amusing language and style. There are signs throughout of this development, which alone makes the book readable today.
Generally, one gets the impression that the book was written quickly, almost dashed off without the careful polish exhibited in Wodehouse's later works. Generally, the book would probably appeal most to a Wodehouse collector.
Customer Reviews:
A Ripping Good Read, What?.......2004-12-08
The diehard Wodehouse reader, having savoured of the Master's best, may justly wonder what possible good can come of yet another reviewer shoving in his oar. Suddenly noticing how warm it is, I run a finger around my collar, and fumble out, in a manner reminiscent of one Bertie Wooster, the only possible answer: "Er...I rather thought I would."
Strengthened by a beaker and overcoming my diffidence, I warm to my theme: that there aren't many books from 1903, that is to say, over 100 years ago, that one still feels like reading. And it's rather ripping, really, that this book is really three books: The Pothunters, A Prefect's Uncle, and Tales of St. Austin's. I mean more for your money, what? And the last tome is really a lot of short stories, with a longish one rivaling anything Plum ever wrote.
Adding that most of them were scrawled out for a boys' rag called The Captain, and that they're all about the good ol' school and cricket and footer and all that, and given all the bilge being shoved out these days on the reading public, odds on twenty-five to one that my readers would give them a miss, not knowing that they're red-hot stuff. As someone said--I think it was the poet Burns. Jeeves would know. No wait--it was Colin McInnes: "Behind this seemingly effortless performance there is infinite skill, and a splendid, kindly wisdom; and in these early books, we can observe the young Wodehouse learning to enchant us with these two rare and beautiful gifts." Or maybe it was the poet Burns. Anyway, it's a ripping good read.
