Very very introductory indeed!.......2002-01-11
I found the book a (loose) collection of short descriptions of concepts. If you are looking for a "dictionary" of supply chain concepts, this is probably the cheapest way to obtain one. For an introductory course in SCM however, this book is way to basic. The authors have tried to make the book more serious by including some case studies (very superficial) with simulation experiments in chapter 5, but this make the whole book even less coherent. SO you have guessed by now I did not find the book worth the (low amount) of money.

Although the book covers several introductory themes about the supply chain management, there is a lack of integration inside the book. The book contains several footnotes to different articles and books. It made me feel that the book was written in a somehow assembly manner.

This is a great little reference tool for any student in chemistry or engineering. You should buy this for someone you know who is entering the field. Students beginning their college career will benefit most from this handy 8.5x11 laminate. The Periodic table is loaded with valuable data (crystal structure, density, MP, BP, eletronegativity, and more). Plus, the back side is chock full of conversions, constants, organic chemistry structures, and air and water properties. As I said, a MUST HAVE for any chemistry or related science student. Even as a grad student, I use this quite often for classes and research.

This proceedings volume contains a collection of papers presented at the International Symposium on Hadrons and Nuclei. Among many specific subjects in this field we chose to discuss (i) interactions of mesons with nucleons and nuclei, (ii) electromagnetic probes of nucleons and nuclei, (iii) strangeness in nuclear physics, (iv) hadrons in nuclear matter, and (v) lattice QCD and other related topics.
Studies of the nucleon-nucleon interactions are extended nowadays to antinucleons, and new experimental and theoretical investigations are presented. Interaction of pions with nucleons, pionic atoms, and aspects of chiral symmetry are discussed by several authors.
New exciting discoveries at several experimental facilities such as Spring-8 and KEK in Japan, HERA and SIS in Germany, and CEBAF and RHIC in the US are presented.

Lattice Hadron Physics draws upon the developments made in recent years in implementing chirality on the lattice via the overlap formalism. These developments exploit chiral effective field theory in order to extrapolate lattice results to physical quark masses, new forms of improving operators to remove lattice artefacts, analytical studies of finite-volume effects in hadronic observables, and state-of-the-art lattice calculations of excited resonances. This volume, comprised of selected lectures, is designed to assist those outside the field who want quickly to become literate in these topics. As such, it provides graduate students and experienced researchers in other areas of hadronic physics with the background through which they can appreciate, if not become active in, contemporary lattice-gauge theory and its applications to hadronic phenomena.

I bought this book for my 5-year-old granddaughter who has two little brothers and will be big sister to another baby soon. I know she'll be able to identify with the girl in the book. Reading this was fun for me too - some pages made me laugh out loud. It's exactly what a big sister would say and think, even about such things as messy diapers. I think this book will become a favorite for the child who receives it.

I have a 5 year old daughter and a 15 month old boy. He, of course, gets all of the attention.
We checked this book out from the library and after reading it I had to buy it! It is a MUST have for any older sister who has a baby in the house. It is a light-hearted look at what babies can and can't do compared to the much more mature older sister. Not only is it cute, its truth is downright funny and had us all laughing out loud!

This book is delightful! There is much to laugh at, much to love. I've shared it with my 3-year-old granddaughter, who will be a big sister come September. She was much intrigued by the great art work, and I could tell it helped enhance her self esteem, as well.

This lovely book does double duty as both a picture book with vibrant illustrations, and a story book with 64 pages and several chapters. You can read it in one sitting to an older child, or break it up over several readings with a younger one.
Handbag Friends looks like a handbag on the outside (complete with sturdy carrying handle that will stand up to a 4 year-old's attentions), but opens up to a wide panorama of colorful illustrations on the inside.
Follow the six distinct, lovable animal characters (the handbag friends) on their journey through fanciful locations (planet pink handbag and the place of dangerful terribleness, to name only two) as they save the world and find out where handbags really come from. A treat for the imagination! Comic and ironic references make this book as fun for the adult reader as the child he/she reads to.
Note: Don't let the book's pink color fool you! It is just as appropriate for boys as for girls. One of the Handbag Friends, Harry, is "strong and cool, and brave," and he saves the day with his decisive leadership.

Here's another winner that isn't appropriate for library lending, but is perfect for parents with kids. The 'handbag friends' live in a handbag, and this handbag-shaped book explores their lives and how they came to live inside a handbag.
