Nothing New.......2002-05-20

Perhaps it is because the book is now 5 years old, but reading it now in 2002 it adds no value. Most of the "advise" given is very generic and does not break any new ground (which I am sure it did not do in 1997 either). For the non-financial manager there might be some new things in there, but the the CFO or other finance professionals the book can serve as a brush-up at best.

Excellent book. My company is using it as a reference for reengineering its cashflows. I do look forward to Book II, which I expect to be about implimentation.

Good ideas--leaves out one area, i.e. credit card processing.......1998-11-18

Good overview of area. Because so much of cash managment involves credit card processing and reconcilement, this book could use an update to cover this area. Otherwise, good ideas--practical and to the point.

Sadly very out of date.......2006-07-11

I agree. I bought this book with the hope that it might reflect much of the newer technology relating to astrophotography today like the Canon 350D and several other digital SLR brands but it is sadly focused on film photography which, in itself, is still a relevant medium but increasingly declining. For those who may be interested in film based photography this book offers a lot.

Book is outdated.......2006-05-19

The title is misleading. 95% of this book is geared toward film photography. Less than 20 pages way in the back talk about CCD imaging. Save your money and buy a book that covers more current technology. This book does cover the basic principles of astrophotography, but any good more recent book will cover the same.

Decent Review, But Several Errors.......2003-04-08

The book does provide a good review of the accomping material in Raymond Chang's Chemistry: Seventh Edition textbook. However, it is obvious that less effort went into the student study guide, because there are numerous errors. I've only worked through chaper four, and I have already noticed that the book contained at least two wrong answers to problems. I also noticed that a questioned worded "classify the followning compounds," failed to list the compounds to be definded and just had a blank space underneath it. Overall, I wouldn't recomend buying this book; a Chemistry Cliffnotes or QuickReview book would probably be more helpful. If you do buy the Student Study Guide use caution.

This book is for the third edition, not the forth in case anyone couldn't tell. Although my class is using the 4th ed I still found this study guide to be quite relevant to the material of the text.

Phase transitions are involved in phenomena ranging from the initial stages of the creation of the Universe to the existence of biological objects. It is natural to as whether any phenomena analogous to phase transitions are possible in disordered substances like liquids and glasses. The possibility of such transitions is still very much a matter of debate. Neither the nature nor the features of transformations in liquids and glasses are yet clear, nor is the nature of the order parameters. Investigations in recent years have shown that transformations in liquids and glasses lead to a drastic change of their physical properties and short-range order structure.
The papers collected here contribute to a better understanding of the physics of disordered systems and phase transformations in them. An unambiguous identification of transitions in liquids and glasses requires further high-precision experimental study of the thermodynamic and structural properties in the vicinity of transitions in order to test existing theoretical models and develop new, more accurate ones.
