Managing Your Business with QuickBooks 6 goes to great lengths to explain what's involved in converting an existing accounting system to QuickBooks. That information is valuable, since many small-business owners are reluctant to tamper with proven systems. The authors tell how to prepare for the conversion, and walk you through the process of carrying it out.
This book then explains how to use all the key features of QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro, though other books provide more thorough information in this area. The authors also make recommendations about how to integrate computerized bookkeeping into your established business procedures. In that way, Managing Your Business with QuickBooks 6 is perhaps better suited to providing advance information to those who have not yet installed the software than solving problems for those already using it.
This book's strong point is its appendix, which lists the customizations you should make to tailor QuickBooks to various kinds of businesses. This appendix suggests, for example, that construction companies use classes to distinguish new construction work from remodeling jobs, and that lawyers track multiple cases for the same customer as jobs. --David Wall
Book Description
Managing Your Business with QuickBooks 6 is a concise, readable book that explains computerized business accounting for small businesses using Intuit's QuickBooks or QuickBooks Pro. QuickBooks, the Quicken of small businesses, is by far the most popular program for small-business accounting. Rather than duplicating the explanation in the manual, this book assumes readers know nothing about accounting procedures and orients them to concepts such as charts of accounts, liabilities, expenses, income, data maintenance, and year-end reporting, using Examples from QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro.
Readers will find real-world advice on everything from how to budget time for converting to computerized bookkeeping to guidance on how to make QuickBooks an integral part of running their business successfully. Here they'll learn how to use QuickBooks to pay bills and write checks; pay employees; record sales taxes due; prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for tax reporting; and assess the health of their business. A special appendix gives tips on setting up QuickBooks for 20 different small businesses so that readers can quickly customize QuickBooks for their own particular businesses.
Book Description
This collection of classic and cutting-edge articles, case studies, and first person perspectives provides a broad range of perspectives on affirmative action, career development for minorities and women, and other HR-related policies.

Good Purchase-137 Score.......2007-09-13
I used the Professional Responsibility Law in a Flash Cards along with some other study aids and my score on the MPRE was 137!out of 150. This product is a very good investment. While there are many cards to go through, the cards provide a comprehensive review especially for someone like me who did not take a professional responsibility course while in law school.
Exactly what you need to know.......2007-03-19
I used these cards because I was in the middle of taking Professional Responsibility and wanted to cover the things we hadn't gotten to before taking the MPRE. I started reading the cards 3 days before the test and probably spent 10-15 hours going through them.
After reading a few cards I realized that they were also useful in refreshing the things I had already learned.
I basically read all of the cards and pulled out ones that were new to me or that I wanted to review more. Then on the day of the test I went through the cards I had pulled out.
The information on the cards is very clearly expressed and easy to understand. Most importantly the sample questions seem to be in the same format and approach as the MPRE questions.
While some may find that this set is way too much information, it's easy enough to skip over sections or cards you already know or are comfortable with.
My only (minor) complaint is that some of the party and attorney names are extremely corny and tend to distract from the actual question. But if you are prepared to roll your eyes at "Donald Chump" references, these cards are really useful.
OK, but overkill.......2007-03-09
The MPRE doesn't take this much studying. There are like a million cards in this set. They are helpful, but I didn't have the time to get through them all before I had to take the test. If you are the type that needs to overprepare for everything, then these may be your solution. If you think that ethics isn't too tough and you just need something to refresh your memory before the exam, get something else.
I Passed with these cards!.......2007-01-10
These cards were a good review! Got a 91%.
Great prep for the MPRE.......2003-12-11
I scored 126 using this and the Strategies book. I read all the cards twice over a 4 week period and used the sample questions in the book as practice. I did not attend an American law school or take a course on professional responsibility at any time before taking the exam. I found the book good as an introduction to the style of the examination but the cards really cover all you need to pass in style.

Customer Reviews:
Very helpful for older attorneys.......2007-09-12
I had not taken a bar exam since I took the Louisiana bar over 20 years ago. I decided to take the MPRE recently and had never taken it before. The cards were extremely helpful. I made a 93 on the test. If you have not taken a bar exam in a long time and need a complete refresher course, I would recommend this learning tool.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR MPRE PREP.......2005-07-05
I am just over 1/2 through the cards, and want to highly recommend them for MPRE prep. I had a concern with the answer to one of the fact scenarios, and after pleasant and prompt correspondence with Aspen (publisher), learned that an answer directly inferred from a reading of the Model Rules (including Preamble) and Commentary was in fact wrong -- only known by a comparative analysis of the old code with the new Rules. Kudos to Aspen for this depth of knowledge, as well as great service! The scenarios are sufficiently entertaining to avoid boredom, a feature that also greatly aids in retention.
OK but too many typos!.......2004-08-06
I thought this box set of study cards was helpful but I wonder whether the publisher bothered to hire copy editors. The cards start out okay, but as you progress, there are more and more glaring typos. After a while, I was so distracted, I had to correct them in order to understand them.

Book Description
Star-hopping--using easily seen bright stars to locate fainter celestial objects in the night sky--is a basic and essential technique for all star gazers, novice and veteran alike. Robert Garfinkle shows you how to locate the many stellar objects usually overlooked by the untrained eye. Two or more detailed star hops for each month of the year, which can be read in any order, take you on a trip through the night sky, opening new doors of discovery and reinforcing star-hopping methods and techniques. With Garfinkle's able guidance, learn to take the Messier Marathon--a night-long hop across the skies. Additional basic astronomy skills are carefully outlined, including reading star charts, finding celestial directions, understanding telescope types, and using light pollution filters. A lively history of the universe and the ancient myths and legends of the sky round out the text. This is an essential guide for sky gazers who want to get the most out of their evening sky explorations.
Customer Reviews:
Some great tours of the sky!.......2001-04-17
This is a thick book heavy on content and true to its purpose: to help the novice amateur astromoner learn how to navigate the sky without the aid of motorized GOTO computers or setting circles. The work contains about 24 starhops, most of which are fairly lengthy and take two hours or longer to complete if observing leisurely.
Although the text is a bit dry and not as enjoyable to work through as in MacRoberts' wonderfully descriptive and similar work "Star-Hopping for Backyard Astronomers", the emphasis in this book is on *empirical star-hopping practice*. Once you complete the exercises in this book you *will* have gained a subconscious feel for navigating the skies with your scope. Traditional star-hopping becomes second nature and loses its daunting aspect.
I feel that all amateur astronomers should have this skill down pat. It makes your observing immeasurably easier because you have an intuitive "feel" for which direction and how far to move your scope.
The maps are well done but do not completely reflect the text. Sometimes objects are discussed in the text but don't appear on the map. Also, the maps are not at near a large enough scale to make the star-hops fully straightforward. For the dimmer DSOs in his tours (and there are many of them), I highly advise the reader to purchase a solid Mag 8.5 or deeper star atlas to accompany this book, such as Tirion's Sky Atlas 2000.0 2nd Ed.
Overall, recommended over MacRoberts' book for serious training and experience in this skill. Rank beginners will want to start with something easier, like MacRoberts or the excellent Turn Left at Orion.
Great guide for novice and experienced alike.......2000-11-13
Garfinkle's book is a first-rate introduction into "star-hopping," the practice of using patterns of stars to find interesting objects in the night sky. He has a couple of chapters that provide useful tips for the novice--such as judging the field of view of a view finder--but then he dives right in. He adopts a constellation-based approach, marching around the major stars in a constellation to find the stellar and deep sky objects within. He is cosmopolitan in his interests, highlighting double, multiple and variable stars as well as every possible deep sky object accessible to amateur telescopes. His text is so full of information and folklore that it can almost be distracting: did you really need to know the exact spectral class of Deneb? Nevertheless, his guides and maps are outstanding and the tours he assembles are just GREAT. To my knowledge, there is nothing like them in the literature. His tours of Cygnus, Sagitarius, and Lyra got me hooked on telescope astronomy, and I return to them again and again. It would take years of dedicated effort to exhaust the richness of this book.
The main strength of Garfinkle's approach--the constellation-based approach--is also its main weakness. This is because fascinating objects a view-finder or two away from the constellation in questions are either discussed in some chapter other than the one in hand or are not discussed at all. This can be frustrating if you are an experienced star-hopper. Garfinkle compensates for this by identifying so much of interest in each of his star hops that you probably won't care. If you do, an excellent companion to "Star Hopping" is "Discover the Stars" by Richard Berry, which touches upon a small fraction of the objects discussed by Garfinkle but presents a broader swipe of the sky.
An excellent guide for practical amateur observing.......1998-07-16
The feature that recommends this book is the road-map approach to viewing objects in a constellation beyond the standard show-pieces. The author includes all kinds of fascinating background information, and you end up seeing things you would otherwise pass by. First-rate.

Customer Reviews:
This book is a bible for wood industry........2000-06-26
"Advanced Wood Adhesives Technology" is a bible for some people who are engaged in wood adhesive and wood based panel. The book involves most kinds of resins that are used in wood industry. A. Pizzi's book is divided into eight sections and Urea Formaldehyde, Melamine Formaldehyde, Phenol Resin, Resorcinol Adhesive, Diisocyanate adhesive, Tannin and Lignin Based Wood adhesives are described respectively. Some of contents of the book are from author's researching results and experimental experience. It is very worth while reading Professor A. Pazzi's book. The book introduces and explains some methods how to test some adhesives' composition and vary specific parameters to obtain particular effects. Professor A. Pazzi's book also supplies some sets of formulas for the production of useful industrial adhesives. The book is a beneficial and indispensable reference for Forest Products Researchers and Scientists, Wood Adhesive Technologists, Graduate Students. The book has two chapters introducing the Renewable Adhesives, Lignin Based Wood Adhesives and Tannin Based Wood Adhesives, they may be friendly to environment. The author does not describe another popular renewable source adhesive, Protein Based Wood Adhesive.

Book Description
This book provides three complete exams (two for AP Physics B and one for AP Physics C), which represent both the multiple- choice and the free-response portions of the exam. The comprehensive review covers mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and other physics topics. For college-bound high school students.
Customer Reviews:
Awful.......1999-08-05
This book is horribly counterproductive. The review section isn't worth the paper it's written on, as it doesn't reflect at all the Physics C material. It appears that they just cut-and-pasted the review for the Physics GRE (given to advanced undergraduates), which is absurd. Avoid this book.
Excellent tests- thoroughly prepared me for the exam.......1999-05-24
helped me in my course and the test. Some of the questions were a little harder than the actual but got me prepared.
A fair review of the class........1999-02-22
The book provides a thorough description and explanation of all the topics covered on the AP exam. However, it could use a few more additional practice tests and problems to achieve a better sense of the test.
This book is not adequate for AP review.......1998-04-11
Besides the many errors in this book, the material does not reflect what is covered on the AP exam. Two examples, the inclusion of Lagrangian mechanics and differential forms of Maxwell's equations. Several multiple choice questions appear in the wrong section.
