The Origin of Species is probably one of a handful of books published during the 1800s that still influences society to this day. Written in first-person by the traveling biologist Charles Darwin, it lays out the argument that the members of each species display variation in physical traits. These variations in turn differentiate the survival rates and hence reproductive rates of the different members within a species. This is called natural selection. Over generations, specific lineages and hence traits come to dominate and change a species, or create new ones where only one existed previously. This is known as survival of the fittest. Darwin argues his point by using finches and various other organisms as examples, all of which he personally examined in his travels to the world's fauna. Overall, a highly readable book on science.

PRAXIS Physics Help.......2007-01-05
I found this book helpful so that I could get a feel of the difficulty of questions that would appear on my test. Some of the questions were word for word of what I found on the real Physics PRAXIS.
It's only a practice test.......2006-03-11
This book is only an 80 question practice test with answers provided. It reflected the general nature of the Praxis II for physics. In general not great, but not bad. I found that the larger study guides (not the ETS ones) had tests that were equally as good and had study material as well.

Don't waste your money.......2007-01-12
This book has absolutely no connection to the MTTC - it's a "sample test" made by a test company independent of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification. It is *similar* in length and scope, but the questions are poorly worded, constructed to confused, and in some cases, outright incorrect. Don't be fooled into thinking this test is what you will see on the MTTC.
Studying from nearly any high school physics text will leave you better prepared for the MTTC than this study guide will.

Longford in Sussex is only known to tourists as a toilet stop for coaches and its picturesque village pond with the famous Longford ducks. That is until Grimston Manor is sold to the rich and mysterious Brother Arne, a religious leader of a sect that believes in interplanetary communication. The Atheoians are waiting for the aliens to land. Unknown to the Atheoians, their leader is really Robby Smith, a jewel thief in hiding from a number of rather unpleasant people. Twins Bert and Basil Broon are former partners of Robby, but when he stumbled on the steal of a lifetime, the Dammthescatt Crown Jewels during a state visit to Britain by the Emperor of Dammthescatt, to keep the treasure to himself, he betrayed his partners to the police. Now the Broons are out of prison and after Robby. And after the Broons are three members of the Dammthescatt death squad. Meanwhile, a group of elderly Longfordians have decided to turn to crime to supplement their pensions. A crime wave is about to hit Longford. The ducks are stolen from the pond, the supermarket appears to have been the subject of a foiled robbery, a riot occurs, a dentist is kidnapped, and the bank is almost demolished. Police Chief Inspector John Westbridge sends one of his men undercover to investigate the Atheoian cult. A flying saucer is reported to have landed in the manor grounds, and a man is seen apparently taking a body down into the sewers. A film of the bank robbers reveals something that is not human. Is Longford a British Roswell? Strange armed men in black are sighted, and the police fear some old ladies have been taken hostage. Has a Longford invasion begun?
