How about a CD version?.......2004-02-09

Excellent book! Has utility. But perhaps a CD of the tables might be more useful to readers?

There's a real problem nowadays with a book like this. With the increasing use of computers, the book's data should be able to be integrated easily with a reader's computer. But the quandary is that if the publisher makes a CD available, there is no effective copy protection. It is one thing if the book is mostly readable text, because most people still prefer to read a nice hardcopy, than from a computer screen. But no one really reads a table of numbers, per se.

Managing Multiple Bosses: How to Juggle Priorities, Personalities & Projects, and Make It Look Easy is a book with an atypical approach to solving common workplace issues. Written by author and speaker Pat Nickerson, the book is in fact a compilation of issues, discussions and solutions offered at different seminars by disparate participants. In this way, the book takes advantage of a rare common wisdom and set of experiences. Moreover, The overall subject-matter is more true to the book's sub-title as opposed to its main title. Managing Multiple Bosses... has a broader focus than just managing multiple superiors. It indeed discusses and offers practical solutions for other aspects of the corporate circus. In this context, the book has a lot to offer and is even fun to read at times - the serious nature of the issues discussed aside.
The sole fault with the book though is its organization. Titles, sections and problems/solutions do not enjoy an elegant and logical pattern or organization. Rather, the book is somehow organized as one discussion after the other and the bold headings are of little consequence.
All in all, Pat Nickerson's compilation is an above average read for corporate citizens.

Don't Go Crazy - Read This Book.......1999-02-08

Nickerson's Managing Multiple Bosses is chock-full of practical advice - a great instructional and reference tool. It's not a text book, but it could be. If you follow its case-by-case format Nickerson offers brief, yet thorough, and readable situation analyses. The process is: 1) a problem description; 2) initial reactions/responses are given (first pass); 3) the readers are given a few lines to write their thoughts; 4) second thoughts from a group discussion are itemized (second pass); and then 5) finally consensus recommendations are given. This is a complete, fully-examined instructive process. Nickerson uses real-life contemporary workplace issues: "my boss challenges me by throwing me to the wolves" and "one of my bosses is uncommunicative, I can't read him" and "my boss has unreasonable demands that causes chaos and goes unnoticed by top management." Nickerson challenges readers to prevent getting dumped on by implementing proactive techniques: get smart, negotiate workloads, show you workloads visibly using charts and graphics. Show how much work is in the hopper and what is at "at risk". Risk management warns those owners to participate in accomplishing the work to every one's satisfaction. Students of Human paleoanthropology should look no further for complete synthesis of anatomical aspects that are proprietary to Hominids-because not only that full treatment is provided on such topics as diachronic trends in qualitative and quantitive development in anatomical features, but recapitulation that contains basic standards of anatomical reporting,complete terminology and also,with full recognition that one important propertes of locomotory system is in its mechanisms for body movement,so that this is not only descriptive work,but one that contains detailed account on anatomical pecularities of Human ancestors,thus providing non-analogues perspective on subject,in full recognition that it is sometimes wrong to accept uncriticaly paralels with modern Humans.Also,some histological aspects are mentioned.This book will provide students with full account on subject of evolutionary anatomy,perhaps one that could became most easily dull,descriptive work under some other concepts,but instead is excelently and logicaly organised textbook.

Mawing and Gooing over Broken Fables.......2001-04-16

I was watching my pet skink nurse her young skinklets one morning when I was given a copy of Broken Fables. The cover of the book was torn off. The provider mentioned it was unwise to be seen reading Broken Fables in public places because "they" might be watching. "They" didn't want to you to read it. It wasn't socially acceptable. Either way, we both finished our meager bowls of free soup at the community center and got back to our according street corners to peddle bottle cap art and edible incense. Since reading this book, I have completed my University study and entered law school in order to hunt down these authors and slap them with lawsuits or wet noodles. Whichever one comes first.

This book broke my camel's back. We stayed up all night reading the stories to each other (me and my camel) and by dawn, snuggled up together near the dim light of the dying fire, listening to the soft, gentle tingling of raccoons rummaging through our empty bottles, his neck was broke. That's how good it was.

This book of on the edge short stories meanders its way from the strange to the heuristic, often falling prey to unseen bandits and barbarians along the way, only to finish the journey to the promised land with a smile on its face and an ice cold beer in the fridge. Broken Fables is not only broken, but deranged, bedraggled and downright unkempt. It is also full of wisdom and good times, and has a place in the library of any true lover of life and laughter.
