Implementing Management Innovations: Lessons Learned from Activity Based Costing in the U.S. Automobile Industry
Shannon W. Anderson , and S. Mark Young Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0792374371 |
Book Description
Implementing Management Innovations: Lessons Learned from Activity Based Costing in the U.S. Automobile Industry is the result of a long-term study of the implementation of activity based costing (ABC) inside two of America's largest automobile companies. The research advances our theoretical and practical understanding of the implementation of management innovations by tracing the evolution of ABC from the corporate level down to its eventual rollout at the plants. Another distinguishing feature of the study is the blend of field research methods and hypothesis testing to determine the factors that led to implementation success for managers and ABC development teams. Many of the findings of the study have implications for the implementation of other types of management innovations.

KEEPING ABREAST OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CURVE........1999-04-11
Information technology (IT) is changing the entire organizational landscape and human resource management must be in the vanguard of this transformation. Sadly, this is not the case in many (probably most) enterprises, both in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Given these realities, and the consequent pressures for keeping technologically abreast in today's competitive world, this book delivers relevant information that is of substantial value. Well written and substantive, we recommended the book for all human resource professionals whose HR department is not yet keeping up with the IT curve. The Evolution of Parental Care
T. H. Clutton-Brock Manufacturer: Princeton University Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback Similar Items:
Accessories: ASIN: 0691025169 |
Book Description
Synthesizing studies of parental care in a wide variety of animals, this book is the first attempt to provide general answers to the following important questions: Why does the extent of parental care vary so widely between species? Why do only females care for eggs and young in some animals, only males in others, and both parents in a few? To what extent is parental care adjusted to variation in its benefits to offspring and its costs to parents? How do parents divide their resources between their sons and daughters? In this book separate chapters examine the evolution of variation in egg and neonate size, of viviparity and other forms of bearing, and of differences in the duration of incubation, gestation, and lactation. The book reviews theoretical and empirical predictions concerning the evolution of parental care and examines the extent to which these are supported by empirical evidence. The author examines the distribution of parental care among offspring, reviews the empirical evidence that parents invest to different extents in their sons and daughters, and discusses the degree to which parents manipulate the sex ratio of their progeny in relation to the availability of resources.
