The 60 activities provide a lot of ideas. Some of the activities need to be updated or reworked to make them more applicable to current markets. The book really helps in getting some ideas ready for the training meetings I conduct.

Just Right For My Audience.......2000-07-14

I liked the 'find the activity that's just right for your audience' at the very beginning of the book. I picked the 'moments of truth' activity. A Moment of Truth is defined as an opportunity for the customer to form a positive or negative impression of you/and your company. It was a 3 hour workshop that centered around the idea that "every interaction with an internal or an external customer impacts the business one way or another." We discussed how the group can improve each Moment of Truth.

These ChemActivities take a guided inquiry approach to the material, which teaches students how to think like scientists, rather than simply memorizing important conclusions arrived at by great scientists of the past. Students develop a strong conceptual understanding and appreciation of the material by carefully observing new situations, constructing logical conclusions based on these observations, and discussing the merits of their conclusion with peers.

Clearly labeled scientific "Models" appear throughout each ChemActivity in bulleted and illustrated formats. These explanations of scientific theories help students develop their conceptual understanding of the material.
"Critical-Thinking Questions" appear after each "Model" and ask students to explore ideas in a number of ways. Students might be required to explain a concept, draw a molecule, complete a table, or write an explanation about a topic to another student. This multi-faceted approach addresses different learning styles, helps solidify a student's comprehension, and reveals areas of weak understanding.

Mendell & fixity.......2007-08-09

It is interesting that Gregor Mendell, who has somehow been presented as proving the theory of evolution, was so opposed to it. And if he opposed the theory, it is because his experiments provided him with evidence for fixity.

Along with an understanding of the physics and mathematics, the reader will gain some idea of how to use these programs to predict energy levels, ionization energies, electron affinities, transition probabilities, hyperfine effects and other properties of atoms and molecules.

Intended for Physicists and Chemists who need to understand the theory of atomic and molecular structure and processes, and who wish to apply the theory to practical problems. As far as practicable, the book will provide a self-contained account of the theory of relativistic atomic and molecular structure, based on the accepted formalism of bound-state Quantum Electrodynamics. The theory will be based securely on rigorous mathematical and numerical analysis. Those more interested in applications than in understanding the models in depth will be able to skip much of the mathematical material. The algorithms used in several software packages -- for atomic structures, for electron-atom scattering and photoionisation and for relativistic atomic and molecular structures -- will be presented, together with an outline of the scope and use of each. An intriguing story that emphasizes the reality of cosmetic surgery and what should be known by the patient, family, and caregivers. In addition, everyone should know about the process and risks of this type of elective surgery. As a sociologist, I appreciate the down-to-earth enjoyable story threaded with insights on self-esteem and our inner beauty. I warmly recommend this upbeat narrative of "plastic persuasions" as seen in our beauty-based culture of today.

Perhaps youth is wasted on the young as some have said. It seems now that the youth are not satisfied with being the present day youth. Beauty has become the desire of the young and old. The current tale of cosmetic surgery offers an engaging epic struggle for youth and beauty as seen through the eyes of teens, friends, children, wives, and husband. Plastic Persuasion: One Father's Quest to Understand the Temptation of Cosmetic Surgery proved that this is a multifaceted topic. A welcomed story of the bonds between families, and the different perspectives that each member may have towards attractiveness as reflected in today's world. The author, Lori Ann Fowler, humorously ties in relative information about material and pop culture, aging, and the media influences of our society. It is a great sociological read for students, professors, and those into "reality make-over" TV shows. The phenomenon of the ideal person rather than a real person is facilitated by our youth oriented society. Barbie is not real.
