Found that this book might be helpful to someone looking to become a used car salesman. There are those that practice what they preach and I think that 90% of the information in the book is regurgitated rhetoric that you hear at some informercial in the wee hours of the morning

Has Some Good Points Even Though He Oversimplifies the.......1999-07-31

facts just a bit. I mean-Come On! One idea he has for making extra money in the "Multiple Source Of Income" (MSI) is prepaid mortgages. Who in their right mind would pay someone $300 for something they can do themselves for the cost of a stamp. Do not even think of going into an internet business without reading Phil Kent's "Poor Richard's Web Site. I agree with some of the concepts. I invest in tax certificates myself. And the idea of Life Insurance Policies to Protect family Assets is right on target. But Mr. D'Arcangelo fails to mention that taking home office deductions is one of the main red flags the IRS uses in looking for tax returns to audit. Worth a read but go in on the price of the book with a few friends and sell it to the used book store when you have all finished reading it. Or better yet--check it out of the library!

This is one of the most useful texbooks I have seen in my thirty years plus of teaching adults. It deals realistically with evaluation, leadership, involving the laymen and other important concepts for developing leaders in the ministry of the church.

It's people, not technology, that increase productivity.......2006-03-04

Attempts to improve productivity by pouring money into expensive computer technology or down-sizing and reengineering have failed. According to an Andersen Consulting study, restructuring and technology have advanced individual productivity by only 1 percent since 1982, while destroying employee morale and filling workplaces with fear and paranoia. A new approach is needed, says Ron Willingham, one that promotes people over processes. The problem is that people are not machines. They don't produce on demand. They produce when they are motivated from within. The trick to increasing productivity, says Willingham, isn't technology or reengineering, but discovering what motivates people, and tapping into employees' self-motivation to increase work output.

You must find out what motivates behavior. Most behavior is motivated by an effort to satisfy needs. These needs fall into seven general categories.
1. Survival: This includes emotional and financial survival.
2. Security: This includes a sense of safety and the freedom to control your own choices.
3. Knowledge: This involves problem-solving, decision-making, satisfying curiosity and knowing how to function in different circumstances.

I would rate this book higher if I could.

This should be required reading for everyone no matter what your position. This isn't only for managers, but for those that feel they aren't managers or leaders. It helps you learn how to get the most from not only others, but yourself for that is where true learning starts.

A friend of mine gave me this book not because he feels I need help, but because he respects me as a person. It is one of the few books I don't just gobble up in a night. I have to slowly read a chapter or few pages, then digest what I read before going back for more. I haven't finished the book yet. I am too busy digesting what I have read so far. I am giving copies to my family, my boss, and the ceo of our company of 40k+ employees out of respect.

If you get only one book on leadership and people, get this one!

This book reconnects us with life-our work with life.. It feels so good to have someone confirm that we can have values at work; that valuing people over process and politics is appreciated in the business community. Instead of some new leadership fad or management theory Mr. Willingham has created a simple model: every person is important. I was appalled at the poor reviews this book has received. It
has been a tremendous help to me as a student and now lecturer
teaching this material at post-graduate level. It is exactly
what the title says - a student guide. It gives a very clear
introduction to the Fourier transform using abundant graphical
examples. Multi-dimensional transforms also get a brief
mention, and the book ends with a simple FFT routine written in
BASIC. Any interested student like myself will find this fun

to play with. Compared with other more expensive, weightier
books apparently written to make the subject as obscure as
possible, James's book is a delightful concise 128 page read. The
reader should gain an intuitive feel for many of the important
properties of the FT which will help greatly before tackling
more in-depth treatments. I think it is much better value for
money than many maths books on offer. Those wishing for the
most complicated explanation of Fourier transforms possible,
with no diagrams, applications or humour could try the book
by G.H.Hardy instead.

This book consists in brief review of the fourier transform and a few applications.The brief review in the first two chapters is ok Only the essentials are given and the proofs are omitted.The problem starsts with the applications. There are applications to difraction of light to information theory and so on. However too much is assumed from the students with respect to those applications .After reading the chapters the students , i suspect, will ask what they have learned.A little more material explaining what the applications are about would improve the book a lot.It is almost useless in the present form

I was a little disappointed with the book. Wanted a little more details and somemore solved examples. This book only introduces FT. It is a good book for the introductory classes in Physics and engineering, after that it is useless.

I found this to be one of the best written books on the subject, extremely clear explanation of many facets in the design of vertebrate structures. The illustrations are simple and clear. I wish there were more of this kind of texts.

This clearly written, concise reference is suitable for the general reader interested in general functional principles in the evolution of vertebrates. The earliest vertebrates to the evolutionary radiation of mammals are covered. Leonard Radinsky was a professor at the University of Chicago, working on this reference as a textbook that would introduce students to vertebrate functional morphology combined with paleontology. Although he died in 1985, this reference was completed by Sharon B. Emerson in 1987.

I have NO idea how my wife ran across L. L. Lee (face it, there isn't a media blitz going on out there) but she did and LOVED her books. Well worth the price of admission!
