If you find most accounting guides as complex as accounting itself, you'll love this itty-bitty guide, full of practical techniques that show you how to analyze financial statements, interpret financial data, and measure business performance. On every page, clear text and illustrations cover each aspect of accounting principles and practices, while simple checklists enable you to calculate ratios, identify creative accounting, and make sound financial decisions. And throughout, accessible charts and diagrams explore different options for financial planning and forecasting. Granted, if you're looking for specific or in-depth guidance, you may find this book too general in its approach. But if you're looking for a thumbnail guide to the basics, it'll do just fine.
It's worth mentioning that the book is also part of reference publisher Dorling-Kindersley's Essential Managers series--20 itty-bitty books on business and career topics ranging from communication, leadership, and decision-making to the management of time, budgets, change, meetings, people, projects, and teams. Combining the For Dummies series' talent for breaking down a lot of information into bite-sized bits and sidebars with Dorling-Kindersley's signature, crisp graphics on a gleaming white backdrop, they don't represent the cutting edge of business thinking and they don't necessarily reflect any unique individual perspective.
Instead, it's as though someone collated the best general thinking on these 20 topics and rolled them out into 72 brightly designed and easy-to-read pages, studded along the way with boxed tips, color shots of a multiracial cast of "coworkers" animatedly hashing through the workplace issues of the day, and a self-test of one's skills in the topic at hand on the last few pages of each volume. Again, they're not for anyone looking for in-depth or focused help on any of the subjects they cover, but they're perfect as a quickie general-interest reference... and let's face it, they're so cute, and look so smart in a neat little stack or row, that you'll probably want to buy a whole bunch to give to your entire department or staff. --Timothy Murphy

Natural and Gauge Natural Formalism for Classical Field Theories: A Geometric Perspective including Spinors and Gauge Theories
L. Fatibene , and M. Francaviglia Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1402017030 |
Book Description
In this book the authors develop and work out applications to gravity and gauge theories and their interactions with generic matter fields, including spinors in full detail. Spinor fields in particular appear to be the prototypes of truly gauge-natural objects, which are not purely gauge nor purely natural, so that they are a paradigmatic example of the intriguing relations between gauge natural geometry and physical phenomenology. In particular, the gauge natural framework for spinors is developed in this book in full detail, and it is shown to be fundamentally related to the interaction between fermions and dynamical tetrad gravity.

The Bean Trees Review.......2004-03-12
This was a very good book. It was about a women who moved from Kentucky. She really didnýt care where she ended up. She was willing to live anywhere. She changed her name from Marietta to Taylor. She was moving, but she had no idea where she would end up. On her journey an Indian women handed her a small child and told her to take it. She didn't know what to do and she took it. She didn't know anything about this child though. She decided to name her Turtle because of the ways she gripped onto everything. Taylor ended up living in Tucson, Arizona. She barely had any money with her. She didn't know where she was going to live. In the newspaper she found an add with someone looking for a roommate. She ended up living with a girl named Lou Ann. She had a small child that was just born. Her husband left her though. Taylor ended up working at a tire shop with a woman named Mattie, who helped her out when she first came to Tucson. Throughout the book Taylor meets new people and finds out more exciting things.
At first this book seemed very dull to me and I didn't think that this book was going anywhere. Then as I kept reading, this book became more enjoyable. It came to be that I enjoyed this book a lot. I did because it had a lot of exciting and good moments in this book. Such as, when Taylor finally found a place to stay, when she got a job with Mattie, and when she thinks she has figured out "Turtle's" real name. I also liked it because of the character Taylor. She never gave up to go back to her home town in Kentucky. She kept going even though she didn't have a job at first, a place to live in, or even a car that had windows. She also had a child with her. She took care of herself and Turtle with out many complaints.
I do not recommend this book to someone in elementary school. There is a lot of swearing and inappropriate language for someone who is in elementary school. I recommend to this book to someone who likes a little bit of adventure. This book is about how a woman becomes closer and closer to a child that was given to her by a stranger.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this book a lot. I recommend on giving this book a chance. You might like it. The women in this book is very willing and doesn't give up. As the book goes on Taylor comes to love Turtle more and more. I do not recommend on someone in elementary reading this book though.
