Though pitched primarily to business leaders, anyone interested in the changing workplace will relate to this book. The authors do an excellent job of presenting their case: it's tough to find good employees who will stick around. Family, the economy, society, and technology have caused workers to re-examine their lives, and they're the ones now with the power.

I had eagerly anticipated this book after having read John Izzo's first book, "Awakening Corporate Soul" co-authored with Eric Klein.
Many books on changing values and cultures often provide the reader with mostly theory, jargon and academic research. This book bridges the gap between theory and practice in a user friendly manner. The book is full of examples of companies and individuals making a difference in their workplace and relating this to the changing values of the workforce. It is an easy, captivating read.
This book has helped me understand the workforce in our organization better and in doing so has helped me to be a more responsive leader. However, this book needs to be shared with others in your organization. Every manager would do themselves well to have this book in their library.

I have read Debbie Macomber's "The Shop on Blossom Street" and I thought that book was just a wonderful story. Again the author didn't disappoint me with this delightful tale "A Good Yarn". The story continues with the shop in Seattle that was opened by Lydia Hoffman, a cancer survivor. A new knitting class is created this time the project is knitting socks. New ladies appear in the class which I enjoyed their characters. No need to go into detail as there are numerous reviews already. Overall, this is a special, warm and touching story that I highly recommend. Bye.

I purchased this book not sure of what to expect. After the first chapter I couldn't wait to finish. I finished this book in just a few days and I am not an avid reader. Debbie Macomber has become one of my favorite authors and I find myself looking for all of her books. This book is excellent, just like the others I've read from her.

A real heartwarmer.......2005-08-05
My MIL gave this to me as a gift, and it's fantastic! While in some ways it's advertising for Macomber's novels, the theme gives it a true "Knit Along" feel. Patterns are written in plain English, with a wide variety of skill levels; a section in the back offers basic techniques, reference charts, and illustrations for those who need a little help. The print and illustrations are large, and there are big, beautiful photographs and bold color sprinkled throughout.
I do appreciate that each yarn type is included, but what I love most is *how* it's included: there's a reference inside the back cover for the exact brands, colors, and amounts of yarn used in each project photo. Within the pattern itself, you're simply provided yarn weight, amount needed, and color suggestions (when needed). I really enjoyed having this information kept separate!
I'm planning to start with the First Steps Baby Blanket (a cute eyelet pattern), translate the Vera's Scarf pattern into a lacy shawl, and see what happens from there!

This is a great version of Little Red Riding Hood....particularly well-suited for boys. My two love it...the pictures are spooky enough to give them a scary thrill and the ending is kid-friendly enough to let them get to sleep after reading it. Highly recommend!

This is a fascinating collection of the correspondence between six Australian women writers written between 1930 and 1957 and unpublished until now. Miles Franklin, Katharine Susannah Prichard, Jean Devanny, Marjorie Barnard, Flora Eldershaw and Eleanor Dark discuss their work, their personal lives and their views of the world in these letters, which were written with the purpose of providing sympathetic support and which bacome a source of friendship. Each of the women was centrally engaged with the social and political issues of her time, and these letters appear as a continuing dialogue written over three decades, from the Depression with its struggles and militancy, the nationalism and chauvinism of the Second World War, through to the conservatism of the Cold War. As non-fictional writing, the correspondence perhaps best articulates the complexity of the women’s lives and the clashes between their private and the public worlds in a way which more polished literary genres fail to do.
