Sure, I'll concede... he has put some excellent work into the flow charts in the book. They are so simple that my cat could figure out which IRA is best for her. Still, neither I nor patches still have a clue as to what rules govern what we are allowed to do with our money in our IRAs. Perhaps I came to the book expecting too much, but I would think the devotion of a chapter on at least explaining IRA basics was meritted.

Otherwise I found the book was a good resource for determining which route to take, and if you were even eligible for a Roth IRA.

Perhaps I should have read the back of the book better before buying it.

Great tables to evaluate whether Roth or Traditional is best.......1999-03-17

I bought this book to help me prepare for seminars I presented on the Roth IRA. It gave a clear understanding of the rules for Roth contributions, but its greatest strength was the tables that let one compare the future benefits of Roth/Traditional IRA based on current and future tax brackets, rates of return, as well as present age. Another feature was dealing with the future value of what Gary calls "Opportunity Costs" when considering a conversion from traditional IRAs to Roth Conversion. Opportunity costs is the future value of the money that needs to be paid to the government when the IRA is converted. Again, current and future tax brackets, age, and rates of return are clearly presented. A must for anyone who really wants to get a grasp on the numbers and not just skim along the surface.

Finally, a source for some interesting considerations to take into account, before jumping head first, into a Roth IRA conversion. This book was very informative about the process of conversion into a roth IRA. The author was very intresting and easy to understand. This volume presents the papers from a major international conference aimed at cross-linking research in the fields of solar and stellar activity. The Yohkoh satellite, with its spectacular views of solar coronal structures seen via their X-ray emission, provided the immediate motivation for the conference. How do these solar structures transcribe into their stellar counterparts; what insights can the more extreme stellar activity provide to guide the analysis of solar data? Coming four years after the launch of Yohkoh, this conference provided a good platform for displaying its discoveries. Longer-term variation associated with the 11-year solar cycle can also be seen clearly in the data presented. The new data strongly support many earlier interpretations of such magnetodynamic activity, but also provide some new and perplexing mismatches now stimulating new theoretical work.

I have used this book extensively in lecture preparations for an advanced graduate-level TEM course. There has long been a need for such a book, which covers all aspects of electron interactions in materials with extraordinary depth and clarity. The book is remarkably well organized and clearly written, with illustrations that actually illustrate rather than distract. I found it very readable, yet deep in its content. Technical issues are confronted directly, dealt with properly, and not overly belabored. This is definitely a "physicist's book"; people with weak backgrounds in applied mathematics or quantum mechanics may want to review these topics before plunging in. But if you have the background, you'll be pleased to know that someone has finally covered the subject the way it should be covered.

They share with the reader their reconstruction—both stunning line drawings and colorful vignettes—of how the primitive mind may have functioned in exercising cultural choice with genetic bias. Step by step, they guide us through the diverse categories of evidence, including recent studies of incest avoidance, color vocabulary, infant gaze patterns, taste discriminations, and phobias, which led them toward the theory of cultural transmission based on the importance of genetic filters in individual mental development.

Gene-culture coevolution........2002-12-22

This book proves that there is no division between culture and biology, but that both are intertwined. As the authors state: Gene-culture coevolution is "a complicated interaction in which culture is generated and shaped by biological imperatives while biological traits are simultaneously altered by genetic evolution in response to cultural innovation." (p.20)

The authors illustrate this coevolution convincingly, mostly by the case of brother-sister incest.

In fact, this theory tells us how the mind is 'formed', but doesn't explain the origin (come into being) of the mind. The title is a little bit misleading.

This is not a book, It's a joke. The confessions of a woman who thinks trash, talks trash, has a trash lifestyle, and is human trash. she should work for the sanitation department.

Great summer reading.......2007-06-27

Personally, I like Nicole Richie, and when I heard she had a book out, I was interested to read what she had to say. Because she is famous for reasons other than her writing skills, I feel people are giving her reviews harsher than are deserved.

All the right ingredients are used to make it a great chick lit book. It's hip, up-to-date on all things social, and gives a true insight to her life. I thought the idea of using herself as the narrator and a fictional best friend as the main character was unique and intriguing, and her writing passionate. The dark, twisted sarcasm and humor that has been infamously attached with Nicole shines in this novel, and I for one can say that I truly enjoyed it.

The best thing I can say to people who hated the book, or sneer at Nicole Richie for attempting something other than a new drug, is that they should go read Hemmingway if they're actually expecting literary genius. :)

What a waste!.......2007-05-22

Well first of all,
For those who actually think Nicole Richie wrote this book, wake up. Sure, she did pay a lot of money to have some one else write it for her and I am sure that she didn't even read the whole thing. Its actually quite funny how some of you think that she actually wrote this..... big mistake for me and a whole lot of wasted time, well not a whole lot, I only read 2 pages, what a waste.

I would first like to mention that I've never read any tabloids other than the headlines, and I've never had much of an interest in the lives of celebrities.

So why did I read this book?

Well, I had read an article about novels that celebrities had written, and out of the five featured in the article, this one got the best reviews, and the way they described it got my interest.

Hopefully anyone who reads this is not expecting this to be a "great" literary work, because it is not of that form at all, but Nicole does manage to capture and engage you the way reading a diary would as you really get a sense for what the main character feels.

In a way, this book reminds me of The Princess Diaries series, so if you are a fan of Meg Cabot, you might like this book. The humour and the pop culture references only emphasize this.

I give this book five stars because I enjoyed it and it's a book that I can see myself reading several times throughout my life.

This was an interesting, fun, and enjoyable read.
It should be something you bring to the beach or when you're able to sit down for a few minutes. I didn't usually want to put the book down, but when i did, it was easy to come back to.
