This Family Medical Guide is a great reference to have on hand, even if you have Internet access to some of the great online medical resources. One of my favorite features is the flow chart that allows a person to narrow down many common ailments. If this book saves you even one unnecessary trip to the physician's office, it will have paid for itself. If this book gets you to see a physician sooner rather than later, it will have paid for itself even more. How can you lose?

David's book Comet's Creators And Destroyers.......2005-02-25

My wife and I traveled to Evansville, Indiana on 22 June 1994 to hear and see David Levy speak about Comets and Comet Shoemaker Levy 9 which impacted Planet Jupiter on July 16-22-1994. David's book Comets Creators and Destroyers is a must read for any one interested in Comets. His book The Quest For Comets An Explosive Trail of Beauty and Danger is an excellent book about comets. David having been fortunate to have gotten to work with Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker and knowing also Clyde Tombaugh who discovered the planet Pluto has a gift of writing very well about his subjects. David has written two books one about Gene Shoemaker and Clyde Tombaugh. I heartly recommend his books for young and old who has any interest in astromomy, sky watching or observing the crators on the moon! JGM K9JWJ

I wanted comets!.......2001-10-28

The cover says "Comets", but the text is not entirely devoted to the science of comets. It skims a lot of related subjects, but sometimes digresses a little too much. And this book is definitly popularized too far! Popularization is no excuse for (small) errors. IMHO, you'd better read "Cosmic Pinball" instead.

Fun & Informative.......2001-01-23

This book reveals the history of comets and their place in the universe in layman's language. The author talks about comet Shoemaker-Levy 9's collision with Jupiter, what could happen if a large extra-terrestrial body hit the Earth. Levy also discusses possible preparations which could be taken to prevent or prepare for such a cataclysmic event. But it is not really a doom-and-gloom type book. It is a book filled with interesting ideas and facts. Lots of b&w illustrations throughout.

Five stars! An 'edge-of-your-seat' book!.......1998-06-08

This is a truly wonderful story not only giving a great deal of easy to understand information about comets, but doing it in such a way that it kept me at the 'edge of my seat' throughout. This book reveals the secrets of the beginning of life on earth, and possibly the end of civilization as we know it. I would give this book 5 stars, a great read from start to finish!

A love affair with the sky.......1998-06-03

This is a love story. From the first moment author Levy said "Twinkle twinkle little star..." he did more than just wonder what they were but made it his life study to find out. The words flow trippingly off the page. If you only read one book about comets in your entire life, this is the one to read. It is truly a page turner; it kept me up half the night. Don't walk -- RUN and get it!

Rocky Road to Stephanie Plum.......2007-07-26

I guess there's a reason these books "surfaced" well after the Stephanie Plum series was well on it's road to success. I read "Love Overboard" and "Rocky Road to Romance" but couldn't quite get myself to purchase "Back To The Bedroom" as was recommended by Ms. Evanovich as the obvious next choice. The first two were almost clones of one another. You begin each book by learning right off the bat the male lead in the story is in love with the female lead character. Very predicatable. Same story - just a different setting. The success of these books she wrote in "her previous life" before "the time of Plum" have done well "now" due to the name she made for herself writing the Stephanie Plum by number books. For me, there is no comparison and I'm very happy that I "cut my teeth" on the Plum series because I never would have read past "Rocky Road to Romance" based on these earlier works. There's just no comparison. In fact, I picked up "Love Overboard" simply because it was an Evanovich book. Read and learn, I guess. They aren't not worth reading if you don't mind knowing how the book is going to end - you just can't miss the fact it's her early work. Keep the Plum books coming!!Funny mysteries are by far Ms. Evanovich's best undertakings.

Great book!.......2007-02-13

Janet Evanovich wasn't really meant to write romance books, perhaps this explains why she wasn't originally published during her first years as an author. She's just far too good at coming up with a plot line, mysterious events and comedic timing. After the revisions or her original books, this, among others was re-released and are better than ever. Her characters are sweet and funny and the story has a deep plot, even too deep for a love story because you'll feel satisfied at the ending, but like all of Janet Evanoviches books, you want more and more. All of her stories are great! Much recommended!

Early work - should have stayed forgotten.......2007-02-05

The good news is that this early work shows that by the time Janet Evanovich got to Stephanie Plum, she had honed her talents quite a bit. The bad news is that because the Stephanie Plum series has been so popular, they have exhumed several of Evanovich's early works assuming that her name recognition can sell almost anything. Well, sure enough since I am holding the book in my hands right now. This book has a not-well-enough-drawn to be sexy captain who falls in love with a proto-Plum - a screwball heroine for whom everything goes wrong. There's a not-very-scary supernatural twist, and, spoiler here, the guy gets the girl at the end. If you are home sick in bed this could be a better bet than daytime TV, but be warned.

Quick, Fun Romance Novel.......2006-10-07

Stephie Graf...Janet Evanovich...they're all good!

At first I thought this was supposed to be a period piece and I wondered how I was going to like it, so I was so glad to read that it was in current times and just aboard a renaissance boat.

This story was funny, quick paced, and fun to read. It had a bit of mystery and intrigue with ghosts and flying corpses. It has some romance and some denial of sexual attraction. It makes for fun reading and is classic Evanovich.

A CAPTIVATING VOICE PERFORMANCE.......2005-02-04

Janet Evanovich, best known for her immensely popular Stephanie Plum series, has taken home a mantel full of awards for her fast paced mysteries - everything from the Silver Dagger to the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association's Dilys Award (this honor twice).

In 1989 Ms. Evanovich tried her hand at another genre - romance, and penned "Ivan Takes A Wife." That story has been recently released under the title "Love Overboard," and is charmingly read by voice performer C. J. Critt.

For those who like a light hearted look at romance, this is an entertaining way to spend 5 hours. Stephanie Lowe finds herself doing business with a Maine schooner captain, Ivan Rasmussen, the descendent of pirates. In Stephanie's mind, Ivan doesn't deserve to be called captain but more appropriately Ivan The Terrible, and surely a pirate himself because the house she just bought from him is near tumble down and perhaps even occupied by ghosts.

Ivan has a tendency to complain about what Stephanie considers to be either inconsequential or unavoidable, but he is very attractive, can be charming, and is madly in love with her.

What to do? Listen and see.
