Book Description
This text provides an overview and concise introduction to labor relations in Europe. The author seeks to transcend nationalism in labor relations by focusing his discussion and analysis on the continent as a whole and on groups of countries. The national focus is to some extent given up, not for a concentration on differences within nations, but in favor of a discussion of common European developments. European labor relations have a number of basic features in common, not only in collective bargaining and conflict, but also in worker participation and in the role of national governments. And, in a number of ways, these features are strikingly different from the labor relations model seen in the United States. The text, therefore, offers an illuminating analysis of commonalities and differences within European labor relations, as well as between the United States and Europe.

Book Description
Although a few books on the market set forth the elements of labor arbitration, no single volume exists that gathers the essential elements of the arbitration process in a detailed, comprehensive, and logical presentation. An Introduction to Labor Arbitration is a clear, jargon-free guidebook that inexperienced practitioners will find essential to prepare for arbitration. As an introductory text, this work is an excellent resource for understanding the fundamental theory, practice, and procedure of labor arbitration.

Customer Reviews:
A Basic Self-Contradiction.......2001-09-06
Israel and Tarver write that they respect the self-determination of transgendered people, yet they propose guidelines that leave decisions about transgendered people's bodies, ultimately, in the hands of mental health professionals. The authors do not address this basic self-contradiction. To their credit, the authors also include essays by other writers, some of whom contest this autonomy-denying aspect of their proposed guidelines.
Gives a most current (1997) view of human sexuality.......1998-12-08
The authors propose three elements of human sexuality: sex (male, female, or intersexed), gender identity (male, female, androgynous), and sexual orientation (attracted to male, attracted to females, attracted to transexuals, attracted to gay men, attracted to lesbian women, etc.).
I am writing this review from memory, so I am not certain I have the (types) correct. The key thing is that the authors argue that sexual orientation is not the same thing as gender identity.
Excellent overview, not for novices.......1998-04-07
A great overview of current care standards and practices. Also includes some personal narratives. Directed to professionals in the health and therapeutic fields, but clear and readable by non-professionals, including patients, family and friends. Probably more useful if reader already has some familiarity with the field.

Book Description
Starting at the dawn of science,
History of Industrial Gases traces the development of gas theory from its Aristotelian roots to its modern achievements as a global industry. Dr. Almqvist explores how environmental protection, geographical areas, and the drive for higher purity and efficiency affected development in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and how they will influence the future of this rapidly expanding industry. The roles of major contributing companies are also discussed to provide an informative and thought-provoking treatise valuable to anyone who studies or works in this fascinating field.

Book Description
Now that her third and last child has left the nest, Edie Boyd’s life turns suddenly and uncomfortably silent. She begins to yearn for the maternal intimacy that now seems lost to her forever. Be careful what you wish for…Before long, a mother-and-child reunion is in full swing: life away from the nest has proven to be unexpectedly daunting to the children, who one-by-one return home, bringing their troubles. With an unannounced new phase of parenthood suddenly stretching ahead of her, Edie finds her home more crowded than ever. In this touching, artful novel, Joanna Trollope has created a family drama for the ages, a moving story of work, love and eternal parenthood.
Customer Reviews:
Trollope at her worst.......2007-08-27
Trollope usually excels at showing multiple points of view and making most of them sympathetic, and I'm pretty sure that was her goal in this book as well. She failed. The male characters are almost uniformly selfish and controlling toward the women in their lives, and the female characters don't even seem to notice. Particularly revolting are the young man who dumps his girlfriend solely because she makes more money than he does (this decision is treated seriously and sympathetically) and the young woman whose selfishness and immaturity are signaled by her weight; we know she's finally growing up when she orders a salad and gives away the bread. I wish I were exaggerating.
It's too bad, because the topic--the emotional transitions of a family moving from one stage of life to the next--is well worth examination. And the central character, Edie, the empty-nester actress, is appealing. But the characters surrounding her are almost all incredibly unpleasant. I wound up finishing the book in horrified fascination.
Second Honeymoon.......2007-07-06
This book dragged and I found myself constantly trying to "get into it" but it never happened - I finished the book but with difficulty. Would not recommend this book.
The empty nest syndrome at it's fullest........2007-06-26
This is Edie and Russell's story, their children now all grown up have left the nest to find their own paths in life and now that Ben the youngest at 22 has left Edie cannot sit still, she is worried sick and misses him so much she wants him back terribly.
You will wonder why she doesn't bask in her husband's attention to detail and his flowers and little notes but well she doesn't; she just wants her kids back to being kids. Meanwhile their daughter Rosa is fired from her job and wants to come back home to live with Mommy and Daddy until she finds herself and sorts her life out and Russell feels overwhelmed with feelings of neediness for Edie he didn't realize he had been feeling all the time the have spent raising the kids, he wants to go back to being married.
Their eldest son Matthew is having a hard time with live in girlfriend Ruth who earns much more money than he does and wants a very expensive apartment on a very exclusive area he cannot afford and Ben is living with Naomi and her mum in the end of the world.
This book explores family dynamics like no other and will entertain you with the comings and goings of Edie, Russell and their kids.
SECOND HONEYMOON.......2007-05-18
ONCE AGAIN, JOANNE TROLLOPE CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF FAMILY DYNAMICS AND RELATIONSHIPS IN AN EASY TO READ, EASY TO IDENTIFY WITH MANNER, AND THAT'S WHAT KEEPS ME BUYING EVERYTHING SHE WRITES.
Captivating.......2007-04-19
I found this story to be clearly the product of a fine and disciplined mind. Trollope surely has a way of exploring a plethora of modern day family permutations. It was a great read, enough to purchase as a gift for a very close friend... I highly recommend this superbly written family drama. Simply put, a spellbinding read...Eden CloseThe Den of Iniquity
