I picked up this book because I wasn't sure which manual would be the best. The good news is it's a fast-read and it shows you what your computer screen will really look like. But the bad news is it doesn't really help you out. It just explains basic functions. For example, it will say, click on Billing and then Finance to do so-and-so. Read the choices and pick the one you want. It never says, if you're trying to do so-and-so, the best way is to do this. And if you're trying to figure out when to update your account, try entering in your figures during the month. Don't worry about waiting till you have your entire statement. There's no real advice in the book. Just directions. As a beginner to this program, I was looking for advice. As a computer-savvy person, I could figure out much of the information in the book, just by exploring the program. I'm afraid I'll have to pick up another book on this subject.

I admit, I'm a technogeek, and I wondered if a book over a decade old could really teach me anything new about business creativity.
If the book is Bryan W. Mattimore's 99% Inspiration: Tips, Tales & Techniques for Liberating Your Business Creativity, the answer to my question is yes, it can teach me something. A lot, in fact.
Bryan Mattimore is a creativity consultant. While to me "creativity consulting" conjures images of brainstorming software and "creativity" web sites, Mattimore writes primarily about low-tech creativity-boosting techniques.
My second-favorite technique is called "The Gray Box" and involves having your group ask yes or no questions about the contents of a box until they determine what's in it. What actually was in Mattimore's box might surprise you, after you read the questions and responses.
Mattimore's Idea Hooks (R) concept is nothing short of remarkable (and my favorite technique, by the way). He has developed a way to actually look at the idea "hooks" that led to great inventions and discoveries. This alone was worth the price of the book, which I actually just checked out of the library but intend to buy.
The third technique I really like involves cutting-and-pasting, something I'm very familiar with as a writer. Except this is the kind I did as a kid, not the kind I'm used to now. In the book, marketing execs cut out magazine pictures and compared their product to their favorite things. Sounds kind of hokey here, but in the book, it's fascinating.
I'm a creative person by nature, but 99% Inspiration really helped me think more creatively. Especially if "inspiration" doesn't come easily to you, take a look at 99% Inspiration.

As a colleague of Brian's, I'm always looking for things to criticize. But in Mattimore's case, I must say that I can't find fault with his work. This is a superb book, and my suggestion to you is buy and enjoy it. This is truly one of the better books on the market.
A reference book on creative thinking stimulation.......1999-07-20
Bryan Mattimore presented processes that have fueled my consulting practice. I find myself flipping through all my downturned pages whenever I need creative thoughts or whenever I need a creative approach to almost any situation. This is simply a great reference book.
A Swiss-Army Knife of Creative Theory and Techniques.......1997-01-18
Mattimore gives us a readable overview of both theory and technique. Breezy style, not bogged down in rhetoric and faddish tricks as other management books often are. He explores the techniques used by proven creative-types, famous and not-so-famous. The results count, and his examples and personal experiences prove the methodologies. Readers of similar books may have seen or heard some of the stories elsewhere, but there's enough new to keep your interest. I have used his techniques and they do work for idea generation. He supplies enough, so that with a little practice, you can get started

This is more than a reference, it is a handbook and diagnostic guide good for the EMT to doctor. My only complaint is that it should have been a hard cover for the price.

Extreme gullibility.......2007-03-19
I'll give this author two stars for humanitarian instincts, including recognition of radical Islamic groups that destroyed Lebanon.
Those included Amal, which the Shiite leader Musa Sadr established in 1974, before reportedly migrating to Lybia. The other was Hezbollah, the Shiite "Party of God," established in Nisrallah in the 1980s and still wrecking havoc throughout the region with the aid of Iran and Syria.
But that's about where accuracy and fairness cease. The writer of her own admission guilty for British actions after World War II. "I'm sorry my government has treated you so badly," she said. She thus allowed herself to become the emotional pawn of victims of radical Islam that she was trying to help.
From then on, although much of the trouble was generated within Lebanon at that time, Israel becomes Pauline cutting's frequent target, in the words of her subjects as well as her own.
This despite graphic descriptions of Muslim violence--for example, on Apr. 1, 1986, when "Akka Hospital," just across the road from the Chatila town, "was stormed by Shiite women and men mainly armed with clubs, shouting, 'Kill them, Kill them! Burn the hospital!"
And of course, in March and April, radicals captured three British teachers. Subsequently Western journalists were evacuated from Beirut.
Later, the writer falsely accuses Israeli soldiers of "colluding with a militia modelled on Hitler's Nazis."
One wonders how, when witnessing the Nazi tactics of Muslim extremists like Amal and Hezbollah, day after day, week after week, month after month, the author turns the epithet on Israel, which invaded Lebanon to stop the bloodshed and cross-border invasions of its own land.
This is a sad testament to gullibility.

I would also recommend Surviving Financial Disasters by Tiffany R. Love which comes with a CD ROM and actual sample court documents from someone who has been there and done that. Also tells what to expect after you filed your papers.

I have reviewed a lot of books on consumer bankruptcy -- and this one is the best. It is comprehensive, up-to-date and accurate. If you are thinking about bankruptcy, are owed money by someone who has filed for bankruptcy (or who might file for bankruptcy) or if you have filed for bankruptcy -- you should buy it. You won't regret it.
