Leaving Your Final Legacy.......2000-11-28

Kraemer's Estate Planner can motivate you to begin what you have been putting off for a long time by helping you understand your way through the maze of complex legal and tax issues, leading you step-by-step through your decision-making process to solve your estate planning challenges.

Begin with the 9-page Inheritance Information Form on page 186--completing it will be a real eye-opener for you and a God-send for those destined to sort through your estate after you are gone.

The book is also logically divided with Part One taking you through preparatory personal and tax considerations, clearly outlining actions with guidelines to successful estate planning with solid information to demystify tax planning; Part Two discussing possible estate plan options for you to consider to create trusts and avoid probate; and Part three exploring personal values decisions that move beyond money and property into elder care, living wills, and funeral instructions.

Lot's of fluff in this book.......2000-09-09

This was the least helpful of the estate planning books I've recently read. It did have a lot of helpful information but the book is full of fluff, lot's of it. If you cut out the fluff there might be 50 pages worth of useful and helpful data. There are much better books on the topic of estate planning available. My opinion is that if you don't already have this book in your estate planning library, then you don't need it. Your money will be better spent elsewhere.

Excellent guide to the exact documents needed.......2000-04-15

This book is a lot like a recipe book: you determine the value of your assets and that will tell you exactly the documents you need to protect your estate. This is what makes this book stand out--you know exactly what you need and can save a lot of time and money by not having to pay a lawyer to determine this. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what they need before they start getting billed by the lawyers.

Although author Robert W. Wendover does not break any new ground, his book is relevant for anyone involved in hiring. While he tailors his material to those who do not have a lot of experience in this area, even veteran managers will find commonsense suggestions and valuable nuggets of information. Nothing can guarantee foolproof hiring practices, but by pointing out common pitfalls and outright blunders this book enables you to streamline the process. The appendix of sample interview questions is particularly helpful for managers who want to extract more vital information from face-to-face interactions with job candidates. We recommend this book as a hiring primer for new managers and a useful reference for experienced ones.

Should be Called Shallow Hiring.......2006-05-31

This is a decent book for learning about the basic hiring laws in the U.S. and things to avoid doing in general. It lacks good detailed examples of various types of problems you could run into, which would have made this book more valuable.

It covered personality tests, but did a mediocre job of it, only mentioning basic information on them.

The questions it provides for asking applicants are shallow and useless, especially for someone who isn't able to tell when someone is lying to them without any of the devices or methods this book mentions.

It leaves out two good and simplistic ways to determine whether an applicant is being honest and what type of personality they have overall (such as patient or impatient or moral or immoral.)

I don't recommend buying or reading this book unless you want to learn the basics quickly and aren't looking for anything deeper.

Looking for Help.......2006-05-24

I was specifically looking for information on obtaining references to forward to some of our other hiring managers and found some good suggestions. In doing this I came across even more help with how to review resumes and how to conduct good interviews. Specifically helpful were the questions to ask during interviews. And they're not generic but divided into categories for nonsupervisory, management and sales categories as well as giving specific questions for specific areas, i.e. a series of questions under management to determine management/supervisory skills. I've ordered this book for my store managers and other department heads who have no (or little) HR experience and they have found it a very useful resource book.

USA Specific Information.......2001-09-05

For the international reader, specific information provided about what obtains in the USA may be excessive. It definitely is a good book to read for someone fresh into recruiting in the USA.

A good book to help you avoid costly mistakes.......2000-08-15

Robert Wendover lays out a hiring method and some techniques for hiring better employees. If you hire people and finding the right people is important to you, I recommend this book.

The effectiveness of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers for a large class of process systems has ensured their continued and widespread use in industry. Similarly there has been a continued interest from academia in devising new ways of approaching the PID tuning problem.

To the industrial engineer and many control academics this work has previously appeared fragmented but a key determinant of this literature is the type of process model information used in the PID tuning methods. PID Control presents a set of coordinated contributions illustrating methods, old and new, that cover the range of process model assumptions systematically. After a review of PID technology, these contributions begin with model-free methods, progress through non-parametric model methods (relay experiment and phase-locked-loop procedures), visit fuzzy-logic- and genetic-algorithm-based methods; introduce a novel subspace identification method before closing with an interesting set of parametric model techniques including a chapter on predictive PID controllers.

Highlights of PID Control include:

an introduction to PID control technology features and typical industrial implementations;
