If you are looking for a book to introduce you to the basics of business including the jargon behind the numbers and where all the formulas come from before you plow into a true "finance and accounting text," search for "Business Basics Bestseller 1" and add it to your consideration. If you have never had this stuff 'splained' to you before, you will like it. This is not a suggestion that you substitute it for this text, just that you check it out as well.

If you are to be studying Accounting and Finance as an auxiliary unit, this one is the best. It is written in an accessible style with not a little consideration for the needs of the student, yet quite a good amount of information is here.

Sam McClelland passed away as this, his first textbook,was being readied for publication. It is lamentably his highest contribution to his field, but not by design. His friends all miss him very much, and we know his colleagues lament the loss of his clear intelligence.

Large eddy simulation (LES) seeks to simulate the large structures of a turbulent flow. This is the first monograph which considers LES from a mathematical point of view. It concentrates on LES models for which mathematical and numerical analysis is already available and on related LES models. Most of the available analysis is given in detail, the implementation of the LES models into a finite element code is described, the efficient solution of the discrete systems is discussed and numerical studies with the considered LES models are presented.

Interesting history.......2007-03-09

I supported the Southern Poverty Law Center without knowing its history, because I liked what it stood for, especially the Teaching Tolerance program. Reading this book helped me see the progression of the Center. I recommend it for anyone wishing to know more about the inside story of desegration in the South. It's a fascinating read, especially for amateurs interested in the law.

Morris Dees tells a shameless story of how he tricks people into giving his organization money. Don't waste even more money on the splc by buying this book.

Dees v. The KKK.......2005-11-27

This book was about Morris Dees fight against the KKK. It centered around two or three big trials that helped bring he KKK down. It was clearly a personal fight for Dees. His life was threatened several times by the KKK. While he claims not to be a civil rights attorney, he has a strong sense of justice and figthts for what he believes is right.

He also helped found The Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that helps repressed indigent people. Not all of the clients he represents are "good" people, but he feels that everyone deserves a fair trial.

Overall it was a decent book, but sometimes his ego got in the way of the story.
