This text was very useful to understand the concepts of Human Resource and other management functions, and the roles they play in an organization. The text was easy to follow, and was in a easy to understand chronology. The chapters were all well interrelated, carrying common themes throughout each unit. The figures and tables were also fundamental to the understanding of the concepts. They were well drawn and thought out, giving the reader a more clear picture on the material. Overall, I thought that this text book was esay to understand and provided useful, applicable information to the reader. I recommend it to other professors.

As a Master Gardener it is very helpful in identifying weeds. So many times I know the weed as one thing and someone else calls it something else.

This is a fantastic book for the beginner botanist and gardener. Though it doesn't mention every weedy plant you may run into (and if it did, the book would likely be two inches thick), it does include most weeds that you will run into. What I really love about this book is that for each species mentioned, there are usually two or three accompanying photos, making a quick ID unusually easy. Like most identification guides, this book works best when accompanied by a more comprehensive guide for those species that a quick reference guide can't provide.

This book is absolutely the best on weeds of the Northeast. This is a must for the library of every gardener or landscaper. It is easily readable, yet has the depth for those who need greater information about the subject. Easily, the most practical format, and it has a detailed index for cross referencing between the common and taxonomic. It also includes a chart on grasses.

One of the most exciting features of the fields of Radon transforms and tomography is the strong relationship between high-level pure mathematics and applications to areas such as medical imaging and industrial nondestructive evaluation. The proceedings featured in this volume bring together fundamental research articles in the major areas of Radon transforms and tomography.

This volume includes expository papers that are of special interest to beginners as well as advanced researchers. Topics include local tomography and wavelets, Lambda tomography and related methods, tomographic methods in RADAR, ultrasound, Radon transforms and differential equations, and the Pompeiu problem.

The major themes in Radon transforms and tomography are represented among the research articles. Pure mathematical themes include vector tomography, microlocal analysis, twistor theory, Lie theory, wavelets, harmonic analysis, and distribution theory. The applied articles employ high-quality pure mathematics to solve important practical problems. Effective scanning geometries are developed and tested for a NASA wind tunnel. Algorithms for limited electromagnetic tomographic data and for impedance imaging are developed and tested. Range theorems are proposed to diagnose problems with tomography scanners. Principles are given for the design of X-ray tomography reconstruction algorithms, and numerical examples are provided.

Since their emergence in 1917, tomography and inverse problems remain active and important fields that combine pure and applied mathematics and provide strong interplay between diverse mathematical problems and applications. The applied side is best known for medical and scientific use, in particular, medical imaging, radiotherapy, and industrial non-destructive testing. Doctors use tomography to see the internal structure of the body or to find functional information, such as metabolic processes, noninvasively. Scientists discover defects in objects, the topography of the ocean floor, and geological information using X-rays, geophysical measurements, sonar, or other data. This volume, based on the lectures in the Short Course The Radon Transform and Applications to Inverse Problems at the American Mathematical Society meeting in Atlanta, GA, January 3-4, 2005, brings together articles on mathematical aspects of tomography and related inverse problems. The articles cover introductory material, theoretical problems, and practical issues in 3-D tomography, impedance imaging, local tomography, wavelet methods, regularization and approximate inverse, sampling, and emission tomography. All contributions are written for a general audience, and the authors have included references for further reading.

I bought this book, but found it pretty much useless. In my opinion, its presentation of techniques and the history of the subject is skewed. Authors' contributions are presented in an overinflated manner, so the reader would never guess that sometimes there exist more powerful and at the same time simpler approaches. There are much better books on mathematics of tomography, for instance the ones written by F. Natterer. Analytically inclined readers would like to read other books on Radon transform, e.g. the one by S. Helgason. The old books directed towards applications by G. Herman and Kak and Slaney are still of value. There are also some good edited volumes on the subject.

"Jack's Law" is a well written documentation of corruption and abuse within the judicial system. Written with the precision of an investigative reporter, Steve Joynt provides the reader with a factual basis for the inevitible conclusion to a corrupt public official.

Steve's research into his subject begins with details of Montgomery's early childhood and continue through a lifetime devoted to deception and self grandeur that led to his eventual downfall and death.

Well worth reading, particularly for anyone interested in the backrooms of "justice".
