From the supplier: The National Society of Accountants has been lobbying for the creation of a Model Accountancy Law which will ultimately result in the recognition of a second class of accountants, the registered public accountants (RPAs). At present, only certified public accountants (CPAs) are licensed to render accounting jobs since CPAs have met uniform requirements for entrance and continuing education. The proposed law will provide entrance requirements, continuing education and grandfathering period of 18 months to become licensed RPAs.

Customer Reviews:
Reference bibliography.......2007-06-12
This is an essential bibliography as a reference to introducing students for the Plant Pathology science.
an excellent text.......2006-10-07
This is an excellent introduction to plant pathology and the kind of book one tends to hold onto to use as a reference after finishing their coursework. I have known plenty of graduate students who've held onto their copies, and I've really never heard any serious criticisms of this book. The coverage is broad, and it will serve as a useful, interesting and highly readable reference for those with interests in bacteriology, virology, mycology, botany and a variety of other fields that overlap with aspects of plant pathology. Typically when I rate textbooks I am fairly harsh because the cost is generally high while contents often leave much to be desired. In my opinion this book is an exception, and I think the cost reasonably reflects the value of the information contained.
Gold standard for general phytopathology. .......2006-08-04
I have been out of Phytopathology since the fall of 1971. Over the years I have; from time to time; skimmed journals like Mycologia and Phytopathology. So the old urge came back and I bought this text on the recommendation of a friend.
This is an excellent text book on general plant pathology. The scope is extensive and I was delighted that a goodly portion of the book explores host pathogen interactions with a microbiological slant. My late, learned, and very noble professor, Dr. R. K. Hegde would have been thrilled to no end considering that the book generally follows his outlines of PL-PATH 600. Dr. Hegde Sir, whereever you are, remember that seminar in May 1968 on the basidiomycetous Fungi with Dr. C.S.Holton in the audience and your passioned pleas for more biochem data? Well those questions are explored to some extent in this book.
If you have any interest in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or plant science get this book. Most definitely a classic.
Best textbook on Plant Pathology.......2005-10-09
This is by far the best reference on the subject of Plant Pathology. It will be useful not only to plant pathologists, but to other plant scientists and biologists as well. George has done an excellent job in bringing his now famous textbook up to date. I have many books on Plant Pathology; this is by far the best. The fifth edition includes many new pictures and drawings to illustrate the concepts relating to diseases of plants. Plus many new sections dealing with the state-of-art of this science. George says this will probably be the last edition he will write. What a way to cap such an illustrious career!
A Classic Textbook.......2005-10-03
Agrios has upgraded and improved his classic Plant Pathology textbook. I own the 4th edition, and I was uncertain at first if I should buy the 5th edition. It was defintely worth it. Not only is there considerable new information, there are also many more helpful pictures and diagrams. Plus, many of the old graphics that appeared in black and white in the 4th edition are in color in the 5th edition. I highly recommend it.

Book Description
This revision retains the same general format contained in the previous editions. The chemicals and pesticides regulations have been updated; major taxonomic changes have been made in the bacteria, fungi, nematodes and viruses; the changing picture in diseases caused by viruses and/or virus-like agents have been described. New host plants have been added, and many recently reported diseases as well as previously known diseases listed now on new hosts have been included. This book should be useful to gardeners, botanical gardens, landscape architects, florists, nurserymen, seed and fungicide dealers, pesticide applicators, arborists, cooperative extension agents and specialists, plant pathologists, diagnostic laboratories and consultants. This book should also be a useful reference book for plant pathology classrooms and in some cases used as a textbook.

Book Description
Many laboratories were reluctant at first to embrace dianion chemistry as part of the standard reaction repertoire. Today, however, researchers can comfortably draw upon the dianion literature to choose an abundance of reagents and strategies that are reliable, effective, and, in many cases, the best answer to a synthetic problem. This interesting book introduces, surveys, and consolidates carbon-based dianion chemistry. Chapter 1 serves as an introduction and as an index of the various dianions covered in the book. Chapters 2 through 5 cover the ensemble of dianion types designated by their first deprotonation site. Each chapter contains an experimental section that explains relevant protocols.

Book Description
Finite Difference Methods in Heat Transfer presents a clear, step-by-step delineation of finite difference methods for solving engineering problems governed by ordinary and partial differential equations, with emphasis on heat transfer applications. The finite difference techniques presented apply to the numerical solution of problems governed by similar differential equations encountered in many other fields. Fundamental concepts are introduced in an easy-to-follow manner. Representative examples illustrate the application of a variety of powerful and widely used finite difference techniques. The physical situations considered include the steady state and transient heat conduction, phase-change involving melting and solidification, steady and transient forced convection inside ducts, free convection over a flat plate, hyperbolic heat conduction, nonlinear diffusion, numerical grid generation techniques, and hybrid numerical-analytic solutions.
Customer Reviews:
An authoritative text on FDM in heat transfer.......2007-06-17
An engineer is constantly engaged in a battle where he tries to balance having enough books on his desk in order to appear well-read, yet not so many as to dilute his collection of "good books." Finite Difference Methods in Heat Transfer is one of those books an engineer cannot be without. It presents the content with an emphasis on solving partial differential equations, i.e. the Poisson and Laplace equations of heat and mass transport, by numerical means, which is ultimately the topic of interest to the practicing engineer.
The book is organized by chapter into methods for solving PDEs of the elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic type; in 1, 2, and 3 dimensions. Each is given a thorough treatment, and the author's knowledge of the the FDM shines as he concisely links the physical meaning of various transport phenomena to its respective term in the PDE. By delineating an otherwise obscure parabolic differential equation into its unsteady, convection, diffusion and source terms, the author imparts an understanding of differential equations that goes beyond a purely mathematical treatment.
The first chapter delves heavily into developing a conceptual understanding of the problem (PDE's), but the book takes off from there. The computational methods described in the book are first-rate, and many of them can be implimented in Excel. With that said, I am confident the reader could be setting up grids and making finite difference approximations the first day of owning this book. The "computational molecule" approach the book takes lends itself well to grid generation in a spreadsheet, although it is not explicity mentioned by the author. The book also includes Fortran code for a Thomas algorithm and domain decomposition algorithms, among others, in the appendices.
All in all, I can't tell you what an outstanding reference this is. I know it's one of the most expensive books on transport phenomena out there, but let me be the first to say it's worth every penny!

Book Description
Whenever the fighter pilots of the Black Sheep Squadron headed out on a mission in their F4-U Corsairs, they always flew in pairs. The guy in the other plane was known as your "wingman." Incredibly, when Bob McClurg joined the Black Sheep Marine Fighter Squadron in the South Pacific theatre during WWII, he barely had any flying hours under his belt. The colorful squadron leader, Greg "Pappy" Boyington, literally took McClurg under his wing and made an Ace fighter pilot out of him. McClurg flew many missions as Boyington's wingman in the distinctive "bent-winged" aircraft. The Corsairs could really take a beating, but they often lacked critical equipment such as working compasses or radios. Outmaneuvered by the swift Japanese zeroes, they often limped back to the base. But the zeroes were fragile, and, as McClurg says, after a morning combat mission there were usually a lot fewer lunches served at the Japanese base than there had been breakfasts. Boyington's combat tactics, which are reprinted in this book, were largely responsible for the high success rate of the Black Sheep. Several books have been written about the Black Sheep, but this is the only one besides Boyington's autobiography, "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep," and Frank Walton's "Once They Were Eagles." that has been written by one of the original squadron members. Thanks to a 1970s television series, the Black Sheep became a cultural icon, but the series did not give a completely accurate portrayal of the squadron, and McClurg sets the record straight. He emphasizes that these fighter pilots and their leader were not "misfits," as is commonly believed. Here is McClurg's story in his own words, with excerpts from his wartime journals accompanied by transcriptions of the actual combat reports from the National Archives, as well as several never before published photographs. A WWII aviation classic! 2003, 5½ x 8½, cloth, 256 pp.
Customer Reviews:
The Black Sheep Squadron.......2007-04-26
A thorough and entertaining book about the famous Black Sheep Squadron by one who lived it. McClurg's reproduction of the actual combat reports and telling of actual missions gives a great insight to the most famous Marine Aviation Squadron of WWII, VMF 214, The Black Sheep Squadron.
A dry read.......2006-10-27
After reading other books on the Black Sheep, I was quite disappointed with this book. While it was interesting to see the Combat Action Reports reprinted, the rest of the combat accounts are quite dull. Research done by Bruce Gamble shows that many statements made by McClurg are factually inaccurate. There are some interesting anecdotes and pictures, including a picture that shows that Boyington clearly lied about his plane being named "Lulubelle," but overall, I was glad that I borrowed the book from the library instead of paying money for it.
what a story!!!!!!.......2004-01-23
The other day I saw a copy of robert mcclurgs book at my grandmothers and was excited to see it. As a former army man stationed in germany i love the history of our armed forces. Also ,I remebered the show in the 70's with robert conrad and loved it. I think this is great timing for this book because of whats goin on in the the world today. Plus its good to know the truth about black sheep squadron as the tv show portrayed a different light on it. A must read for all military buffs!!!
I have an autographed book!!.......2004-01-16
My father was chief test pilot for the Navy and excepted the first F4U from Igor himself. Someday, I will write a book. Bob's account adds a new perspective for me, combat, one I never got from my father or experienced personally. Great job Bob. Thanks again for the book. CW2 Mark Michael USAR (Ret.)Syracuse, NY

Book Description
The first in a series devoted to the legal career of the Rt Excellent Norman Manley, QC, MM. This phase of his life spanned some thirty-three years and terminated when Manley became chief minister of Jamaica in 1955. During that time he won a legendary position for himself at the Jamaican Bar appearing in numerous civil and criminal cases, both at first instance, and in the appellate court.
Written in narrative style from a court room perspective, "First Time Up" deals primarily with twenty-four of Manley's early cases from 1922 to 1925. Based on court reports, Manley's legal papers, diaries and letters, the material is revealing historically, legally and sociologically.
Manley's cross-examinations were hardly ever without excitement and those of expert witnesses an intellectual treat. Witnesses offer a mass of detail about life in Jamaica in the 1920s and the verdicts dispel the assumption that Manley never lost a murder trial. The reader meets a host of Jamaican personalities, all in their early, formative years, as jurors, clients or hostile witnesses pitting their wits against Manley in the box.
