Still Awesome Companion for Video.......2007-08-23

Even though Jeorge Servantez has 2 awesome grow videos out now, this book has everything you need to know, albeit short on hydroponics, however I guess his second movie takes care of this. At any rate, this is a great reference companion for any grower written by one of the top photographers and growers in Europe who also writes for High Times.

Everything ya need to grow some marijuana.......2007-08-23

Ive always been hesitant to buy any 'Grow it Yourself' books. There are so many out there and so many opinions. But for years ive heard references to the 'bible' of growing. Finally broke down and coughed up the dough, and was it sure worth it! Anyone that can follow directions can grow great top of the line quality marijuana!

Buy this book and grow quality not garbage!

A good addition to a grower's library.......2007-08-19

The information in this book is thorough. Lots of stuff to learn for beginners and experienced growers alike. The only criticism I have is the garish design of the book itself. It also could have been several pages lighter if he removed all of the adverts! Advertising does not have a place in a book like this. If you want to make an Appendix at the end with resources and links then fine, but don't make me wade through several pages of ads for seed companies, fertilizers, and grow mediums.

I actually prefer the Greg Green book better, although the information is not as comprehensive as the Cervantes book.

The Cannabis Grow Bible: The Definitive Guide to Growing Marijuana for Recreational and Medical Use

I find the two together complement each other quite well...so get both!

Ed Rosenthal had a hand in this one and it looks more like Closet Cultivator than a good grow book. This book is not the best hydroponics book you can find by a long shot. It is also incomplete and there is much better information in some of the other grow books that are out there. I highly recommend The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green for coverage of hydroponics systems and growing mediums. "Marijuana Hydroponics" is a little lite* on both of these areas. It will get you there but I have strong reserves about issuing this book a fully positive review without suggesting that you also get another book with a hydroponics section to help you along. I did like the sections on photosynthesis though.

I was looking forward to gaining some real insights with this book. However, it is one of the most disapointing books on the subject I have read. The infomation is dated, the size of the book is pitifull. Trying to remain objective, there are a few handy formulas for detailed calculations, the rest of the information here is old news, and all available for free on the net. Ed has, in the past written some of the best and most well known material on this subject. But this book is just not worth buying. Ed Rosenthal where has your integrity gone?

Incomplete Guide to Hydroponics.......2001-02-14

I ordered this book after seeing all these reviews praising the information on growing with hydroponics and was pretty disapointed to see that there were only 8 pages dedicated to that system. Still I guess it was better than the 4 pages dedicated to growing in soil.

This is an English translation of a book that has achieved considerable success in its original version, having reached its third edition in German. It is a good, solid account with many merits, and a welcome feature is that it devotes considerable space to experimental methods, around a quarter of the whole book. The arrangement of topics is also somewhat unusual, as the first of the three chapters is devoted to multiple equilibria in proteins rather than with enzyme kinetics as such. Chapter 2, occupying about half of the book, contains the "standard" account of enzyme kinetics. Although none of the mathematics is really demanding, the author makes no concessions, and assumes readers who can cope with the sort of algebra and calculus that the subject needs. For my taste the style is rather heavy, and I suspect that the translator is not a native English-speaker -- or else has tried too hard to preserve the style of the original.

Under Wraps: One Soldier's Hidden Diary of WW II is collected diary of Jay Coffman, recorded during his service in the US Army Infantry in the South Pacific throughout World War II. Since keeping a diary in combat zones was a court-martial offense, Coffmen hid his diary among his personal effects until the war ended. Though he survived the war, his untimely death at age 48 was partly due to the malaria he had contracted on Guadalcanal. Editor Tom Fulks has added notes to Coffman's diary, clarifying passages or mentioning appropriate historic references. Fulks also contributes a seventy-page overview of World War II, to refresh the reader's familiarity of the war and the politics surrounding it. Under Wraps is not only a hands-on first-person account of the war, but also a love story, and a fond remembrance of home and family. Jay Coffman was an ordinary foot soldier who voluntarily served his country in World War II, delaying the start of his career and married life for some four years. His recorded his acitivities, thoughts, and feelings in his diary, and those observations that the censors would not allow him to mail home in letters. It reveals how different that war was from all the wars that followed. Only a handful of people have ever seen or known about the diary until now; Jay's lifelong love Dot did not want it published during her lifetime as it was "too personal." Parts of the diary are as slow-moving as certain periods of Coffman's service but, due to his comfortable writing style, it is always very easy to read. As editor, I researched the diary and added information to clarify it and put Jay's observations in their historical perspective.

I hope to buy copies of this book for Christmas this year to give to all of the people I love. I read this book and applied its principles to my life and especially my relationship with my husband. It is transformative! By using the techniques discussed in this book, which are really very simple to use, you gain a truer, fuller picture of what is happening in any relationship in which you are involved. It has helped me to truly appreciate my husband, something that hasn't happened in a very long time. Of course, he feels that appreciation and the result has been a wonderful transformation of our relationship. I recommend this book for everyone as I can't imagine anyone for whom it would not be life changing in some degree.

There's even a little section on Benjamin Franklin's efforts at self-reflection. The book's format lends itself to dipping in for a quick tidbit as well as a cover-to-cover read. Grateful for this book . . . .......2005-01-17

I'm grateful for this book. It's an uplifting story, superficially about Mr Seymon's personal struggles, written without remorse and with sincere gratitude. But it is a book for every human that has to go through this life. He demonstrates that the everyday things that we often believe we can't live without are often not the most important things in life.
I recommend this as a good book to read when you need a lift. Keep it on the shelf, because you will need it sooner than you think.

As much as I enjoy the artwork of Flavia, I thought that this book would be enjoyable. She and her daughter have collaborated on this book, sharing their own personal experiences. However, I was disappointed in the lack of depth of the articles, as well as the absence of Flavia's trademark artistic depictions. It left me wishing that there was more to it -- more of the concept of being across the porch from God.
