We bought this book last summer while vacationing on the Outer Banks. Using Blue Crabs, Catch `em, Cook `em, Eat `em, my family was able to catch plenty of crabs and prepare some very tasty meals. We were also able to learn all kinds of interesting things about blue crabs. The book is written in a clear and organized fashion, very reader-friendly. I recommend the book for families seeking a simple, enjoyable pastime which will provide lasting memories of beach vacations.

In this monograph p-adic period domains are associated to arbitrary reductive groups. Using the concept of rigid-analytic period maps the relation of p-adic period domains to moduli space of p-divisible groups is investigated. In addition, non-archimedean uniformization theorems for general Shimura varieties are established.

The exposition includes background material on Grothendieck's "mysterious functor" (Fontaine theory), on moduli problems of p-divisible groups, on rigid analytic spaces, and on the theory of Shimura varieties, as well as an exposition of some aspects of Drinfelds' original construction. In addition, the material is illustrated throughout the book with numerous examples.

Absolute values and their completions -like the p-adic number fields- play an important role in number theory. Krull's generalization of absolute values to valuations made applications in other branches of mathematics, such as algebraic geometry, possible. In valuation theory, the notion of a completion has to be replaced by that of the so-called Henselization. In this book, the theory of valuations as well as of Henselizations is developed. The presentation is based on the knowledge acquired in a standard graduate course in algebra. The last chapter presents three applications of the general theory -for instance to Artin's Conjecture on the p-adic number fields- that could not be obtained by the use of absolute values alone.

This narrative goes beyond other internment studies in its use of internee interviews and access to Justice and War Department personnel files. Fox concludes that rather than offering a reasonable assessment of the aliens' danger to United States internal security, the Justice Department incarcerated them-and excluded several hundred United States citizens-because of their German backgrounds, alleged disloyal statements and associations, socioeconomic class, or their characters and personalities.

Finding hope and inspiration with a cancer diagnosis.......2006-11-10

This was a great book - small and easy to read! Jeanne Martin shares the fears, anxiety, anger, and emotions she and her family face while she is battling cancer - and she wraps it all in a spiritual package. She truly 'speaks' to cancer warriors, as well as those battling other serious illnesses. You really feel you know the author intimately and marvel at her humor, her ability to trust in God, and to experience peace while going through various treatments. Reading this book is an uplifting experience - everyone who suffers from cancer or has a family member with cancer should read this book. It is a great spiritual resource to keep in a briefcase or purse.
