Attribution Theory: An Organizational Perspective (St Lucie)
Mark Martinko Manufacturer: CRC ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1884015190 |
Book Description
With Special Contributions from Bernard Weiner Ph.D. (UCLA) and Robert Lord Ph.D. (Univ. of Akron) Attribution theory is concerned with peoples causal explanation for outcomes: successes and failures. The basic premise is that beliefs about outcomes are a primary determinant of expectations and, consequently, future behavior. Attribution theory articulates how this process occurs and provides a basis for understanding that translates into practical action. Attribution Theory: An Organizational Perspective serves as a primary sourcebook of attribution theory as it relates to management and organizational behavior. The text provides an integrated explanation of the role and function of attribution theory in the organization. This important new book contains original empirical research relating attributions to leader evaluations, reactions to information technologies, management of diverse work groups, achievement, and executive succession and power. The contributors are from a variety of disciplines including management, psychology, education, educational psychology, and sociology.

Best beginer book!.......2004-03-16
Her other book (Wanda Curran's), is this book just in larger print, with a whole section on showing your pigs at cavy shows. Also a great book, but not needed for the pet owner.
Every cavy pet owner should have a copy of this book. It is written by a lady who has based the book on her own personal experience of raising piggies. She tells you what really works.

Open Issues in Local Star Formation (Astrophysics and Space Science Library)
Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1402017553 |
Book Description
The international colloquium "Open Issues in Local Star Formation and Early Stellar Evolution" was focused on (i) the physics of young stellar objects, which are observed with increasing angular resolution by the new generation of telescopes, and (ii) the processes that triggered large scale star formation in the solar neighbourhood. The scientific presentations were not limited to these two main topics as many new and interesting results related to star formation have been obtained. Indeed, the participants presented new findings in the fields of Stellar Groups and Associations; Young Stellar Objects; Disks; Outflows and Jets; The ISM Conditions for Star Formation; and Early Stages of Star Formation. The discussions on "Open Issues", representing problems and unanswered questions, will make this book particularly useful for researchers and PhD students.

Book Description
Horatio Nelson, son of a clergyman, is the most celebrated admiral in British history. He entered the navy at age 12, made captain by 20.British policy was to contain the dominant European power which during Nelson's lifetime, was Napoleon's France. The two nations hated well.
Providence sailed with Nelson at Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain. "England expects every man will do his duty." His greatly outnumbered forces decimated a combined French and Spanish fleet. The victory cost Nelson his life, but made him immortal.
"A vivid portrait of Nelson...highly entertaining and accurate." (The London Times)

A Child Called "It": One Child's Courage to Survive
Dave Pelzer Manufacturer: HCI ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback Similar Items:

David J. Pelzer's mother, Catherine Roerva, was, he writes in this ghastly, fascinating memoir, a devoted den mother to the Cub Scouts in her care, and somewhat nurturant to her children--but not to David, whom she referred to as "an It." This book is a brief, horrifying account of the bizarre tortures she inflicted on him, told from the point of view of the author as a young boy being starved, stabbed, smashed face-first into mirrors, forced to eat the contents of his sibling's diapers and a spoonful of ammonia, and burned over a gas stove by a maniacal, alcoholic mom. Sometimes she claimed he had violated some rule--no walking on the grass at school!--but mostly it was pure sadism. Inexplicably, his father didn't protect him; only an alert schoolteacher saved David. One wants to learn more about his ordeal and its aftermath, and now he's written a sequel, The Lost Boy, detailing his life in the foster-care system.Though it's a grim story, A Child Called "It" is very much in the tradition of Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul and the many books in that upbeat series, whose author Pelzer thanks for helping get his book going. It's all about weathering adversity to find love, and Pelzer is an expert witness.
Book Description
This book chronicles the unforgettable account of one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It is the story of Dave Pelzer, who was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother: a mother who played tortuous, unpredictable games--games that left him nearly dead. He had to learn how to play his mother's games in order to survive because she no longer considered him a son, but a slave; and no longer a boy, but an "it." Dave's bed was an old army cot in the basement, and his clothes were torn and raunchy. When his mother allowed him the luxury of food, it was nothing more than spoiled scraps that even the dogs refused to eat. The outside world knew nothing of his living nightmare. He had nothing or no one to turn to, but his dreams kept him alive--dreams of someone taking care of him, loving him and calling him their son.Customer Reviews:

City of One: A Memoir
Francine Cournos Manufacturer: W. W. Norton & Company ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover Similar Items:
ASIN: 0393047318 |
Book Description
A poignant and unforgettable memoir of growing up orphaned. Francine was three years old when her father died, and by the time she was eleven, her mother was dead of breast cancer. "I had been hurled over a cliff," she writes. "The irreversibility of what had happened crashed down on me; a nauseating wave of fear and a flood of tears followed. I didn't know who I was without my mother. . . . What would fill the vast space left by the disappearance of this all-consuming relationship? How would I spend my time? What would I become?" In answering these questions, Dr. Francine Cournos offers a beautifully written memoir of an injured child's inner life, and the moving --even exhilarating --story of the ways in which, after much struggle and with considerable help from others, that injured child living in a foster home grew to become a happy and successful adult. In City of One, an inspiring account of triumph over childhood adversity, a distinguished psychiatrist applies her expertise to her own true story of growing up orphaned.Customer Reviews:
