In 1993 the Equipment Manufacturers Institute honored author Peter Pakosh for his contributions toward the manufacture of forestry and farm equipment: Versatile Tractors: A Farm Boy's Dream traces his life and achievements. Peter was born in 1911 on a farm in eastern Canada, and became an engineer denied the change to design equipment for a large farm equipment manufacturer. Undaunted, Pakosh built his first machine at home - and founded his own line of products. All ages will find his story involving and a solid story of achievement under the worst of odds.

Farm Boys Dream Comes True.......2003-12-18

This is splendidly written book all the way around. Pakosh did an excellent job bringing a modern, insightful look to the life of a legend in the farming industry. It is easy to read and well organized. It has great original photographs of most models. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, whether in the industry or not.

the details are very vivid and excellent but I'm a bit uncontented because I wasn't able to see the two chemical elements focused in astrochemistry.

This book provides an introduction to the theory of atomic and molecular collision processes which occur in the interstellar medium. It is directed towards graduate students and research workers in the fields of astrophysics and astrochemistry who wish to analyse and interpret observations of the interstellar gas. The book will also be of interest to physical chemists who seek a better appreciation of their discipline to an important and expanding area of astronomy. The text deals primarily with processes occuring in interstellar molecular clouds, where the electron density is low and collisions with the abundant neutral species, H, H2, and He, predominate. As the energies involved are very small, the theory is necessarily based on the quantum mechanical method with simpler, classical models being used to interpret the results wherever possible. The compilation of sources of data pertaining to the rotational excitation of interstellar molecules will be helpful to radioastronomers interpreting mm-wave observations of molecular clouds.

I am as impressed with Mr. Wittenberg's command of words as I am with the letters he annotates in this book. Sgt. Smith was a prolific writer, who at times may have left out a few details, but Mr. Wittenberg did a great job of filling those details in. For those who want to know what soldiers were really like during the Civil War, this is a good place to start!

Good Letters, Great Commentary.......2000-01-06

Those who've had experience with using civil war letters for research are painfully aware that it's usually a hit and miss affiar. The letters in this book have varying amounts of substance, just like most letters I've used for my research in college. The easiest explination for this is the monotony of life for a civil war soldier between the battles. However, Eric Wittenberg more than makes up for the understandable lack of action in some letters (hey, armies don't fight all the time) with his excellent commentary. This is the third work of Mr. Wittenberg's that I've read and once again I'm impressed by his grasp of the material and by his fortune of finding these wonderful letters. This book is a truly valuable source for all civil war cavalry researchers.

Little bang for your buck.......1999-12-04

I expected more for my $35. This is a rather short book in which we hear at least as much from the editor as we do from Sgt. Smith. The reason for this is that many of the roughly 70 letters in the book are brief and lack much substance.
