Mexican Translation.......2000-03-19

I found almost all the translation using mexican or centralamerican language, so is kinda difficult to understand in the real spanish language. In my oppinion, the readers must have close at hand, a spanish diccionary to understand most of the words.

I found the work to be, in some instances, too advanced for beginning, recreational adult learners. Many of the examples could be modified by a native instructor; but, that is the reason for which I sought examples, since I am a non-native teacher, and consider writing in Spanish one of the most difficult tasks

Maybe I'm used to the colorful images found in school texts and the "Dummies" series, so I didn't like the plain layout of this book. I will probably use it to copy from to practice my writing. I don't like to just read info, I like background info (why its done a certain way). Overall, I find this a usefull book.

How to Write in Spanish: Correspondence Made Easy..........2005-09-01

I think the book delivers on the title How to Write in Spanish: Correspondence Made Easy, From Personal Letters to Business Documents. The book presents many samples of properly constructed/composed personal and business correspondence. Formats for personal and business correspondence include email correspondence and resumes, and there are lists of personal and business stock phrases, something I've found particularly useful as I refer to them often. My only complaint; however, has to do with the stock/standard phrase section. I would like to see the English and Spanish phrases paired where there are similarities. Right now, the phrases from both languages that have equivalent meanings are not lined up. Even with this drawback, the lists are useful.

I don't see the book as being better suited for an intermediate student/user of Spanish. It treats structure and content of correspondence and documents in broad terms. If you need knowledge of specific forms of correspondence and specialized jargon particular to a field, this book isn't the right book for you. If you simply want and/or need to construct basic forms of correspondence, this is a very good reference tool.

Very basic.......2004-08-07

This book has a very basic set up. It does not go into depth with its explanations and it does not have a useful vocabulary. I am a professional interpreter and translator in a law firm, and I wanted my correspondence in Spanish to be as correct as possible. This book is fine for an intermediate student, but is probably not what an advanced student or professional is seeking. I would return it, but it is cheap enough that it is not worth the aggravation of trying to get my money back.

Letter Writing Tips for Spanish Writers.......2000-09-10

If you're looking for a reference book that will allow one to write the perfect letter in Spanish, then this 94-page book is for you. Author Mary H. Jackson does an excellent job of providing examples of letters written for personal and business purposes. This book, which is published by the great reference staff at Passport Books, is an inexpensive and useful guide to allow anyone to write letters in Spanish with little or no help at all. Of course, it would be helpful to have knowledge of the Spanish language before writing any letter, however if you're a student or someone who communicates infrequently with a pen pal, friend, or anyone else in Spanish, this book will allow you in your letter writing.

The book's compact size and price are extra reasons to purchase it. I also recommend "Cassell's Colloquial Spanish: A Handbook of Idiomatic Usage" if you want to improve your grammatical knowledge of Spanish. "Cassell's Colloquial Spanish" is the best book on Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure on the market, and addition with the "Guide to Correspondence in Spanish," I can guarantee that you will be writing like a professional is a matter of time.

This book is a great reference guide to writing business correspondence in Spanish. It provides example letters that can be used in developing correspondence which recognizes the cultural differences in the style and structure between letters written in Spanish and English. This book has been very useful in my work of responding to customer billing disputes.

While the title suggests that the book might be completely bilingual, the book is written entirely in Spanish. There is a bilingual glossary included, but the text itself is not translated to English. This book can be used by anyone with a good knowledge of written Spanish. It provides the fine points of etiquette and proper format for writing both business and personal letters. Best of all, the book includes many sample letters and lists of useful phrases and abbreviations. Each chapter includes practice exercises which make the book potentially useful as a text book

Just what I need!.......2004-07-31

This book lists business letters with Italian on one side, and English on the other. The advantage is that the message to potential business partners will be crystal clear, without translation issues. The letters I saw talked about meetings, and shipping of goods. It would be difficult to write these as a beginning speaker. I would buy this book, but no one seems to have one in Italian!

Born in the last, desperate years of the crumbling Athenian empire, he witnessed her fall from grace during the Peloponnesian War. It was the absence of respected command among the Greek forces-that led to the Greek vote of confidence in Xenophon as one of their new generals. He was ultimately made Commander-in-Chief. Xenophon's writing is a 'veritable treasure-house' of examples of the military practice of the ancient world. Godfrey Hutchinson is a classical historian and an expert on Greek warfare and leadership between 411-362 BC.

Using prime sources like Xenophon's Kyropaideia, Agesilaos, The Constitution of Lacedaemonians, Ways and Means, The Cavalry Commander, The Art of Horsemanship, On Hunting, Anabasis, Hellenika, Memorabilia and Oikonomikos and also Plutarch's Agesilaos, Pelopidas, Lysander, Alkibiades and Artaxerxes, Mr Godfrey Hutchinson does an excellent job analysing the ancient art of command, the lessons of hard experience and what they teach us today (the value of innovative thinking is proved at the case of the Thebans who smashed the famous Spartan phalanx at Tegyra, Leuctra and Mantineia). Xenophon was a really gifted person who started the campaign to Persia in the army of Cyrus the Younger, only to turn a general by the vote of his colleagues, when the Greek leadership was massacred by treachery. He not only managed to lead the Ten Thousand back to safety but also revealed a keen eye for tactics and strategy, writing down his experiences for posterity and even describing his ideal commander. Many of his suggestions found their way later in Alexander's operational art, shattering the Persian Empire for centuries. The reader will be surprised to find out how many problems of today's armies were also faced by the ancients and how they chose to solve them. Mr Hutchinson also uses heavily Sun Tzu's writings and compares them (together with modern manuals on operational art) with those of the Greeks. There are some good diagrams on the most important battles which Xenophon describes and also some black and white photos. The book is a real gem and it is certainly worth reading.

This book would make a great gift item. It can be read in a few hours. I enjoyed this book while flying to Baltimore. Banerjee tells the many experiences of his life and makes many comparisons of the culture of India and USA. He is funny and very poetic.
