Your book definitely saved me a LOT of work preparing to teach my QuickBooks classes. I found the exercises to be just the right length for what I'm doing. The good news is that I learned a thing or two from the book myself!

Excellent textbook.......2005-04-07

I use this text for a self-paced class for accounting students at a technical college where I teach. It is an excellent text that is easy to follow for someone with accounting training. It is not for non-accountants! (There are other excellent texts for the many people who want to learn QuickBooks but have no accounting training.) After one semester of college accounting, however, students can understand this book without difficulty. My students do very well with it and enjoy the practical tone and advice that the book gives. I have run more than 100 students through this course with this edition and the editions before this one without any complaints at all. If you understand accounting and computers at all, this is a great text.

Falls Short.......2005-02-04

I am using this book and CD in a self paced class. The text and examples are very difficult to follow if you are a person who needs detailed visual examples as well as easy to follow explanations. I am usually a quick study at these types of courses but found this one a dud. Even my instructor at the computer learning center which is currently using this book in it's self paced program admits it was very hard for her to follow. She has years of experience and creates web pages for businesses as well as accounting in addition to her teaching job. I would recommend seeking out an professional opinion before taking on this pricey textbook.

I have been using this text for the last 2 years. It is truly "hands-on". It presents continuing exercises for multiple companies. It simulates day to day work activities as they would happen. Using this format also prompts both experienced and new learners to ask questions they may not think of. Both guided and independent exercises are provided. In the school environment, tests are also included for grading.

Wow! This is definetely a five star book and I highly recommend it!! It is filled with lots of great information and tools to help teams move through problem areas and perform at peak levels. It is easy to read and understand, and the information is immediately transferable to real life situations. Great suggestions on how to handle problem situations - especially the Problem Matrix which lists common team/group problems and tools to help you work through them. At one time or another I have seen all 17 problems listed in the matrix. The tools in the book which help you work through and overcome these problems are all practical and useful!

In the course of talking about fossil books and which ones were best this book always came up in the conversations. The pictures are awesome and its written in a way that even those with no college education can understand.. Please get a copy of this book and see what I mean!!!.

read quite a few!) Just a great, plain-language explanation of the rise of life on Earth. How bacteria evolved, how fish evolved, how we evolved. The illustrations really make the book too, with gorgeous scenes of prehistoric life. Mr. Reader weaves the last 3.5 billion years into a smooth flowing narrative that really made me want to continue reading. I've never had that effect from a "scientific" book before! I can't believe it's out of print. Get this book back in print for the next generation!

Not Very Visually Satisfying.......2007-02-08

Although the book does have a few nice photographs in it and the book does, in fact, catch the "American Dream gone awry," I was disappointed with the book as a whole. This is not to say that it is a bad book. The problem I had was that even though the book is 10.8" x 9.8" many of the pictures are very small. Being a member of the visual generation this book failed to satisfy me with much optical gratification. I would have preferred a book with large images that would grab my attention and bring me back to the memories of days gone by.

Poignant and sublime photography.......2004-03-20

Brouws is one of my favorite contemporary photograper and this book proves why. HIGHWAY admirably displays his subtle use of color, elegant compositional eye, and an underlying elegiac tone which he captures, often depicting an American Dream gone awry. Many of the photos seem infused with a Hopper-esque quality; many Springsteen tunes come to mind as well. The inclusion of FSA photographs from the 1930s, and the well-wriiten essays by Polster and Patton, make for a compelling product. This book is a classic and highly recommended.

a mundane revelation...best on the lot.......1999-08-14

Brouws seems to have acquired a photographer's eye that can look behind and around and through the grime and the dust of the highway's edge, and find an unheralded harmony in the play of concrete, neon, and metal. Looking at the photographs one can recognise what was always there, but always overlooked. These are the backdrops to our highway dreams, and so it makes good sense to see these without putting people into the foreground. The essays are cogent and work well as an introduction to the photos. Buy the book, and you'll be seeing the highway in a different light from then on.

I wouldnt call this book one of my favorites but it was a cute book. I have my attention for about half of the book and then i put it down. I think people that love the romantic secret love thing will like this book. but the book is kind of slow for about four chapters.

It was sort of boring at first. But it got interesting in the sense that makes you think that you can totally relate to the stuff written in it. Well, maybe without the Schwerinborg-if that's how you spell it-thing, or with it depending where you live and stuff like that.

OK but not great.......2006-11-19

I've loved both Royally Jacked and Spin Control. I excitedly bought her third book in the series, expecting it to be as good as her last two. I found Do-over a little boring. I didn't feel the same excitement. The same lovable characters are there but something in Nikki Burnham's writing is not. The plot moves really slowly and nothing exiting really happens. There isn't much focus on the conflict in the plot and there is only one little mishap while Valerie and Georg are skiing. Other than that the book was sweet and I really like Georg's character. I would still recommend reading it. If you havn't read RJ and SC I deffinitely suggest reading them.

Bailey seems to have everything going for her --- she's cute, smart and has a ton of friends. There's just one problem --- none of those friends are guys. She has spent every high school dance putting up decorations and then quickly heading home. Now it's her senior prom, and she's determined to find the date of her dreams. In DATING DO-OVER, the fourth book in Wendy Lawton's Real TV series, Bailey's best friend Jenn decides that she needs to completely revamp Bailey's image in order to increase her dateability.

While ditching her bookworm look does turn a few heads, it doesn't change the fact that Bailey is too nervous to even carry out a conversation with a boy. Jenn decides that the makeover must extend to social skills, and pretty soon Bailey is polling guys about their dating preferences in hopes of finding out what will impress secret crush Trevor. However, each attempt to garner his attention proves to be disastrous. After embarrassing him, injuring him and even lying to him, it becomes clear that Bailey's dream of prom with Trevor is not going to be realized. While Bailey has resigned herself to simply being on the decorating committee once again, Jenn will not let Bailey give up on her search for the perfect date.

A lucky break changes the outlook of Bailey's senior year. Jenn's twin brother Luke is interning at "Dating Do-Over," a hot reality show that the girls watch religiously. When he takes them to the set to borrow vintage prom dresses, they find the crew in panic mode. As it turns out, their latest guest has failed to show up and they need someone to take her place immediately. After Bailey shares stories about her own ineptness with the opposite sex, it is clear that she's the perfect candidate for a dating makeover. Undergoing a complete makeover inside and out, she finally might be able to have the prom she has dreamt about for so long.

But it soon becomes clear that something isn't right. Why has Trevor been so withdrawn lately? And who has been setting her up for trouble? When it's finally time to ask someone to the prom, in front of millions of television viewers, Bailey finds out that she might have been after the wrong man all along.

DATING DO-OVER is an enjoyable read, though considerably lighter than the previous installments in the series. The novel does not tackle issues as large as those in earlier Real TV books, which might disappoint fans of the series. However, Lawton manages to once again tell a story that provides valuable lessons, particularly those that are relevant to teen girls. It explores the importance of maintaining friendships with the opposite sex, as well as concerns about dating and appearance. While occasionally the plot can seem shallow, a surprise twist will have readers eagerly turning the pages. Fans of teen fiction and TV makeover shows will find much to celebrate in this final installment of a great series.
