a must for all Bankers who shy away from IT.......2001-12-18

being an IT professional and new to banking technology, the book gave me a good understanding of the areas where information technolgy is useful.It also gave me an idea of how to make the top business executives in banks, aware of their roles in the technolgy revolution. The book stresses on the need for mutual understanding and appreciation that should exist between the business executives and the IT professionals in the banks. This has been explained quite well. The action plan checklist given at the end of every chapter is an excellent idea.However, I found the various architecture principles and models quoted in the book a bit vague and brief.

This book is written for students and managers who desire an overview of contemporary information systems technology (IT) management. It explains the relevant issues of effective management of information services activities and highlights the areas of greatest potential application of the technology. No assumptions are made concerning the reader's experience with IT, but it is assumed that the reader has some course work or work experience in administration or management. It is a paperback derivative product that contains the same text portion found in Corporate Information Systems Management: Text and Cases, 5/E, but without the Harvard cases.

The Best Tome on the Topic.......2002-10-30

I have been searching, mostly in vain, for a text that will be useful in examining the strategic relationship of business and IT. There were some fine books written in the eighties and early nineties, but very little wisdom has been written since the advent of the networked office and the networked economy. There's tons of e-blather out there, but most was written during the 1997-2000 Internet frenzy that distorted all perspectives. This book is the first to give thoughtful coverage to problems and solutions in the alignment of business needs and IT initiatives. It covers legacy issues, conversion and compatibility, examining typical problems, noted failures, and best-of-breed solutions. It's not full of some egghead professor's theories and paradigms that give new names to old issues; instead it covers relevant case studies to make genuine points. This is not a "how-to" manual, but it is an essential overview. Every CIO should read this, and every CEO should read this and then critically examine the CIO, the IT staff, and its relationship to the business. If you are reasonably intelligent, you don't need to be IT-trained to appreciate most of the authors' points. Recommended.

unorganized and poor written book.......2002-09-19

The book is poorly organized and sentences are poor written. It's way too hard to read and understand the point the authors are trying to make. A lot of run-on sentences, which creates a lot of confusion. The only good thing is the examples given in the book. The price is WAY TOO HIGH.

Managing I.S. is an Part Science and part Art.......2001-08-01

The authors do a great job of addressing several issues relating to managing I.S. in a Corporate environment. Several chapters were excellent -- especially regarding the people and process sides of the I.S. world. Authors provide clear and concise information and insight. Other chapters are not as good -- for example the Electronic Commerce trends and opportunities are already dated, as they were pre-1999 examples and extremely dated in the Internet world. Book is "pricey" but worth one to add to your library.

This book is the course-book of course 308, "Information Management" at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). The book is aimed at people who are, or want to be, CEOs or CIOs. It presents several models for strategic IS management.

Up to date and relevant, excellent strategic coverage........1997-02-07

This book provides a pragmatic framework for the strategic issues facing Information Technology managers. The authors have managed to keep up to date with the very recent developments in WEB and Client Server technology, remaining at all times in the context of seeking the benefits of IT for Business. The extensive use of detailed case studies place a real world context for the management theory espoused, which itself is drawn from many other sources (and adequately referenced.) This book can be used both as in introduction into the developing arena of IS/IT Management Theory, or as a reference material for CIO's looking fo inspiration. On the downside, the text can be heavy going and academic at times and could use better indexing of the Tables and Figures used. Reasonable value as a hardback - but a softcopy version would be an affordable must for any aspiring CIO.

Tempo = pace and timing.......2007-09-11

Novosel's book makes an excellent point about how having good tempo in your golf swing will produce many benefits. Many golf instruction books give lip service to the concept of tempo, but I don't think anybody has ever explained it like this before and provided a rhythm track for you to practice with. He debunks the old saw about "swing slow" or "slow down your swing" etc. and shows how a slow swing actually allows a lot of counterproductive and inefficient movements to creep into your swing. When you swing with good consistent tempo every time, as do most PGA players, you improve the efficiency of your swing and you improve the likelihood of hitting the ball the same way every time. Of course, you have to have decent swing mechanics as well, and this book does not purport to teach mechanics.

Tempo matters.......2007-08-06

I think the author has made an important observation -- touring pros have a significantly quicker tempo than most amateurs, and most follow the same ratio of backswing time to downswing time. The author also offers a very simple chapter on mechanics, and some drills that helped me, and will probably help a lot of golfers. This book does not give you 300 new things to think about while you swing, which is good. Even those who have a quick tempo already may find this helps them be more consistent with their tempo, and hence more consistent with their shots. I am an athletic 54 year old near beginner, and this book has helped me already in the two weeks since i read it.

Did I ever need this book and cd. I have been slow to adopt the tempo to my game on the course because now all my clubs hit to long. If your swing gets in the right tempo so many bad habits disappear on their own and I finally feel the whiplash effect that your body creates with the proper tempo. My body is finally working as one. I was always happy with a 200 yard drive, now 250 is normal and my accuracy is better. On second thought don't buy this book I might have to out play you sometime.

Wow! The info in this book does exactly as stated. I now have a more consistent golf swing, my yardages are more consistent and from 100 yds and in I now have consistent spin enabling me to be much more accurate. On course corrections after that horrible swing are quite simple, tempo, tempo, tempo. Great info for golfers of all levels.

I would recommend this book to any golfer. My results were fantastic! The great thing about using this book is it provides certain tempos to use during practice. One problem I believe all golfers struggle with is creating the same swing throughout your round. By sticking with the same tempo from hole #1 to #18 you will improve your consistency and your score will show it. My index has moved from 16.4 to 11.2.

I thought this book is pretty good except for the kissing. The person telling the story is Valerie Moran. The other characters are Basil Harris (who is a newcomer). Bob Short who is only in the book for a short time. A music teacher by the name of Mrs. Gottsman. A history teacher, his name is Mr. Kramer. A subsitute named Ms. Walters. Troublemakers Jim Argus and Dennie Plover. And one more character Jan Draper.

The Power of the Rose.......2001-04-05

The Power of the Rose, the sequel to The Haunting of Hawthorne, is a very good book about a girl named Valerie. Valerie likes this really cute "jock" at shcool, but she had a first love, Basil Haris. This boy gave Valerie a flower and the next day he was gone. The flower started to fall apart, but Valerie kept one of the pedals from the flower. Every night she stared at it and got a warm felling inside that Basil would be coming back someday. To find out if Basil comes back you'll have to read the book.

I think this book is great.I'm in 7th grade and this book is great for all ages.It is about a girl named Valerie. Who falls in love with this guy named Basil who is actually the ghost of Hawthorne and comes back becauses his school is being distoryed and he does not want that to happen.so I think anybody will love this book.
