BUY THIS BOOK!.......2007-03-25

This book is THE BEST!! My absolute favorite wildflower book for the North Georgia Mountains... and I have tried MANY. I am a professional naturalist and lead wildflower hikes all spring. This book is my bible! I carry it everywhere I go. Easy to use, lots of species covered, wonderful ethnobotany information (great "stories" to use while leading hikes). Detailed enough to get the ID right, general enough for anyone to use. Wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderful book... (as are Lone Pine's other plant books covering other regions.) HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!!

Hands-down Favorite Smoky Mtns/TN Wildflower ID Book.......2007-02-23

I've been cataloging thousands of wildflower photos over the past six years and probably own or have "borrowed" most wildflower field ID guides that are out there. This book is easily my favorite. Why?

Easy to use: A color key w/thumbnail images for more than half of the flowers in the book makes finding the right flower much easier if you do not know which family of flowers to search in. If you do have to browse all the pages then the placement of flower photos along the outside edges of the pages makes thumbing thru the book easier than most. The pages are substantial enough to make for easy browsing too.

Ethnobotanical info: Most flowers have a special paragraph about the historical and current usages of the flowering plants for purposes other than visual pleasure, i.e. medicinal, food, ceremonial, dyes, etc.

I'd been using Jack Carman's book "Wildflowers of Tennessee" as my "bible" for TN wildflowers but now this book with a similar name is my favorite. I still use the Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Wildflowers as a "family locator" because of its easy-to-use key (flower color plus bloom type) when searching for that unknown flower. One big aggravation with the Audubon book is that the details are in the "white pages" somewhere in the back of the book. The Wildflowers of Tennessee book has all of the info right there on the same page as the photo.

For newbies the color key makes this book user friendly--even though the flowers are grouped by family, genus then species (as are most wildflower field guides).

Downside? There are still many, many species flower flowers that have only a description rather than an actual photograph. However, this book is small enough to be practical in the field.

The price is great! I paid almost thirty dollars for the Carman book and it was worth every penny. I don't know how they can sell this fabulous book for such a low price.

Highly recommended. If you want to buy only one wildflower ID book for the Smokies then this is it.

Perfect book for quickly checking on new flowers.......2005-12-18

I love this book. I keep it in the door pocket in my car so I can return from a hike or outing and check it anytime. I really appreciate the way the flowers are organized in the book to easily find the one I need, and the descriptive info is always interesting. It's made me much more aware of the native vs. imported wildflowers, with many surprises there. A terrific book for the interested outdoors person. Just wish I could find a similar book for nearby states and for wildlife, trees, birds, etc.

My primary reference for area wildflowers.......2003-01-08

This is the first book I pick up when identifying wildflowers of Ohio. The information is complete and entertaining, as well, with interesting notations regarding the history of many of the plants. The beautiful photos make it easy to recognize most of the flowers in the field immediately. I recommend this book as a useful and enjoyable way to learn about regional wildflowers.

This book is by no means a comprehensive listing of all wildflowers and shrubs in Ohio, but it is a great resource for anyone who is just getting acquainted with plant identification. Using this guide, you should be able to identify most plants that are in flower to species and identify the rest to family or genus. The color pictures are clear and the format is easy to use. I would recommend this book to hikers, butterfly enthusiasts, and anyone else who appreciates wildflowers and wants to be able to identify more of them.

This book is just fine! I totally disagree with the 1st reviewer. I have other books that are also helpful and need to use them all for reference. The photos are helpful and the information is totally accurate & I consider my self an expert in this area. I don't know what the 1st reviewer is talking about??? I prefer this to Perterson's Guides. I use Audobon's as my 1st choice and use this as a good everyday back up.

I loved this book! When you are reading it, you feel as though you are really there. One can empathize with Elizabeth's trials and rejoice with her in her victories!! I am definitely looking forward to the sequel!

Wonderful period piece.......2006-06-13

As a Lancaster native who now lives in KY, I thoroughly enjoyed this period piece written about life in Lancaster 150 years ago. The characters were so believable and the setting was described so clearly that I was able to visualize the entire story as it took place in what is now the historic district of Lancaster. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel!!!

A Story of Human and Divine Love.......2006-01-30

Written by Ruth Carmichael Ellinger, President of Brandon Christian Writers, "The Wild Rose of Lancaster" is a fantastic story of human and divine love. Ellinger drops you right smack into the 18th century and into the life of Elizabeth Cameron, a distressed young widow who begins by crazily hurling her belongings through the glass of a second story window. In her brilliant but subtle way, the author beautifully contrasts God's stubborn and determined presence in our lives with the main character's stubborn and persistent rejection of her faith in Him. Readers won't be able to resist coming along to watch, as Elizabeth goes kicking and screaming back home to her earthly father and ultimately back to a loving relationship with her Heavenly Father. You'll be inspired as you watch God save Elizabeth's father, heal her mother, restore her faith and bring a new loving man into her life. By page 388, you'll be dancing on top of a mountain singing, "Savior let me walk beside Thee, Let me feel my hand in Thine; Let me know the joy of walking, In Thy strength and not in mine." Good new author.......2006-01-25

I decided to read this after seeing the blurb on the back because I'm a descendant of Clan Davidson and it's rare to have this small Scottish clan figure prominently in a work of fiction. Aside from that initial interest, I found it to be a very well-written book with believable and likeable characters. I'll be looking for more from Ruth Carmichael Ellinger.

This video is very pretty to watch.... once.

But the exercises are extremely slow, with very long transitions between the different sections.

You need to take more than an hour for a mediocre workout.

I did not feel like I was making any effort and certainly not getting a hard workout.

The bonus clips are nice though, if you want to get a glimpse into the life of NYC ballet dancers.

This book is wonderfully published -- it features glossy pages, beautiful, high resolution photos, and artfully placed typography.

That said, this is not any kind of book for someone looking for a real workout. If you're genuinely interested in ballet, and beautifully sculpted bodies, this book is for you. If you're looking for some new ideas to switch up your workout routine, you may want to pass.

If you want a dancer's body but are not quite ready to join the New York City Ballet, this book is the next best thing. Effective exercises, well described, and beautifully photographed.

Amazing workout!.......2007-04-20

OK, I studied dance for a REALLY long time, so your mileage may vary. That said, when this book found its way to me, I was very out of shape. I'd stopped dancing about 5 years ago and during that time my body just completely fell apart: carpal tunnel, joint pain, and a lot of extra weight found a way to sneak up on me. I went back to take a ballet class and thought my feet were going to fall off, it was that hard to get back into it. I figured I was doomed to be an ordinary, unfit American forever. After two weeks of doing this workout, though, my knees don't hurt anymore and there's a lot more I can do. A smaller waist and more defined shoulders, arms, and legs were just an added bonus!

I think anyone, dancer or not, can benefit from doing the exercises here. You will not lose 30 pounds in 30 days, but you might end up looking as though you had!

What DID Winston See???.......2002-10-06

I have read this novel a long time ago so I cannot remember it very well.I know Winston was a witness to either a murder or a clue to a murder.I'd recommend this to anyone as the Sweet Valley Uni thrillers are very engrossing.

What color ARE Denise's eyes?.......2001-06-12

Winston gets a part-timer working in the Dean's office, still dating Denise, who is described in this book as having blue eyes. She had "almost-black" eyes in SVU #1, another booboo Pascal! Anyway, the Dean's sexy-but-promiscuous wife, Amanda, flirts with Winston and then visits him one night in his dorm room...he partially declines her, but she witnesses a killer attacking someone outside his window! Winston tries to bring the attack to light himself, but is discredited in court...and so brings the truth about their "affair" into the open. But the killer has a pattern of blonde victims (due to adolescent rejection), and is it already too late to save someone close to them? Denise & Winston team up to go undercover again in order to solve this one...very suspenseful!

ok since Winston isn't such a big charactor in SVU as he was in SVH ,but don't let this put u of .Even though the twins don't feature much it is still a great book i won't tell u all the plot,i would try to rent this out of your libary or borrow it of a mate if you can befor buying as some readers may not like the fact that it is diffrent from the others and does not featuer the usual charactors .Enjoy!

I thought this book was very good, judging by the title. My friend had told me about it before, so I was interested in reading it. I found it to be a book that I couldn't put down, afraid something very exciting would happen the second I did. Overall--very good book-2 thumbs up!:
