Book Description
This text helps students hit the road with a practical set of tools, and the confidence they need to use those tools effectively in making business decisions. The goal is to introduce a new Principles of Accounting text that better reflects a more conceptual and decision-making approach to the material.
The authors have taken a new "macro- to micro-" approach to the Principles of Accounting course by starting with a discussion of real financial statements first, rather than starting with the Accounting Cycle (although the Accounting Cycle is thoroughly covered in Chapters 3 and 4). The objective is to establish how a financial statement communicates the financing, investing, and operating activities of a business to users of accounting information. They motivate students by grounding the discussion in the real world, showing them the relevance of the topics covered to their future career.

Book Description
The economic importance of bacterial fish diseases and the increased understanding of the taxonomy and pathology of fish that has occurred during the last ten years, has resulted in this completely revised and updated edition of
Biological Fish Pathogens, first published in 1987. The book provides comprehensive coverage of bacterial fish pathogens and, crucially, diagnostic methods of identification and techniques for isolating those pathogens. The authors also discuss methods used to control bacterial fish diseases, and consider possible future trends in the study of pathogens. Finally, they review the emerging role of fish pathogens in human diseases. The book will be welcomed by practising aquaculturists, veterinary microbiologists, researchers in industry and in academia. It is an essential reference work for graduate and post-graduate students working in the areas of fish health.

Book Description
The proceedings of the XXVIIth ESLAB symposium presents a comprehensive review of the status of astrophysics and cosmology today. The book presents an outstanding insight into the current and future fundamental problems which will be addressed by the scientists in the 21st century.
The accomplishments of the golden decades, in which many new observing windows have been opened to all astronomers through space exploration, the 4-meter class ground telescopes and interferometric techniques at radio wavelengths, are highlighted concisely and understandably. The state of our theoretical understanding of the Universe, extending from the nearby interstellar medium (the Solar Bubble) out to the very early stages of the Universe, and the importance of gravitational lenses are illustrated in lucid reviews. A set of beautiful color pictures from recent experiments illustrates the future of observational astronomy. The reviews are comprehensive and are at a level suitable for professional astronomers who want to remain informed about the fields beyond their specialties, for students at graduate and undergraduate level, as well as for decision makers who need to understand the importance of the scientific challenges which will require support in the future.

Customer Reviews:
Informative-useful to the beginner and intermediate herper.......2002-09-25
This book provides color photographs as well as a range map for each species listed. The detailed drawings on locomation and the different methods of movement also helps in understanding how snakes do what they do. The brief section on the workings of serpentine anatomy provide relevant information for those interested in the natural history and evolution of snakes. It also provides information for many of the sub-species found in Florida, which is something that other general field guides tent to overlook. This book came highly recommended by an expert florida herpetologist. The beginner will find the detailed photographs as well as the range maps a must for identifying the many species of snakes found throughout Florida. The intermediate hobbyist will find the taxonimic listing as well as natural history indespensible in the field when trying to locate the elusive varieties of serpents. This book is really somewhat of a natural history text, as well as a field guide wrapped up in one. Its small size makes it easy to carry into the field, where it would be used most. It could be considered slightly dated, as the classification of some of the snakes as endangered or species of special concern has changed, the identification information has not. I bought the book used, so an updated version may be out.
An excellent field guide for FL residents & snake lovers........2001-03-17
Provides color pictures, descriptions, range maps, and habitat information for each species of snake in Florida. The authors also describe similar species, natural history, and reproduction for each species. The book contains information (photos/description) of various FL environments (e.g. mangroves, cypress swamps, hammocks, pine flatwoods). Charts included provide abundance of each species in various environments. Good basic description on snake senses & locomotion. I plan to buy parts 2 & 3!
Excellent field guide........2000-04-08
Allowed me to positively identify many species in my area -- far better descriptions and pictures than any other book I've seen.
Book Description
In his follow up to the phenomenally popular Solo Training, Loren Christensen has dug down deep to come up with hundreds of more ways for you to rev up your training at home or in the gym. Solo Training 2 kicks off with a focus on building your body's core for stronger, faster and more effective grappling, kicking and punching. A strong core - your shoulders, chest, abs, hips, and back - is the source of your body's power, speed and coordinated movement. As a martial artist, a strong core helps you to get more out of your training and to respond instantly and effectively to the fast changing demands of competition or an explosive street encounter.
You'll also get over 100 ways to work your combinations, cheat speed, improve accuracy, fight from unconventional stances, practice grappling when you can't find a partner and get the most out of your mannequin bag. If hundreds of new training drills sound overwhelming, not to worry. Solo Training 2 wraps up with 8 workouts, each with a specific goal like the Free Hand Power Builder and the Boxer Workout. If you've read your copy of Solo Training to tatters, give it a little time off and dig into Solo Training 2, where Loren Christensen promises to take your fighting techniques and understanding of fighting concepts to a new level.
Customer Reviews:
A must have for all serious training !.......2007-08-20
Returning to the martial arts world after many "stop"-years, i bought several books and dvd on the subject. Clearly and by far, Christensen "Solo Training" 1 & 2 are the best and most valuable ones.
From athletic preparation, strenght training, speed and flexibility developement, up to advanced fighting combination on a mannequin, both books covers all aspects. Everything is covered in depth, with clear explanations, sufficient pictures and also humour.
I tried the excercises and drills described for a month and my phisical condition improved significantly, even after years on non practice.
I highly suggest to buy this book to anyone practicing martial arts of every kind and evey level, you will not be disappointed.
Another excellent book on solo training .......2007-08-13
I think this second book on solo training by Christensen picks up where the first one left off and adds a whole new dimension to training alone. The hottest thing in the martial arts and in fitness in general is training the core. All kicks, punches and grappling can only be improved by having a stronger midsection, lower back and legs.
I bought this book in April and after putting together an easy to do program I found in the book, I noticed a big improvement by June, roughly eight weeks later. My kicks and punches were landing with a bigger bang on the heavy bag and my launch speed was greater than ever before.
There are lots of solo exercises in here for the core and to improve your foundation moves from which all other techniques come. I still use the first Solo Training for inspiration and to get techniques, and I use Solo Training 2 to get even more drills and techniques plus the core exercises.
Excellent.

Pretty useless book.......2007-04-27
I've been training martial arts of various forms for close to ten years. There is really no valuable information in this book unless you are entirely untrained in any fighting skill and have no instructor. Anyone who has trainined with a proficient instructor could train solo using whatever drills were provided by their instructor. Anyone who has trained with an instructor for 2+ years could probably make up training exercises that are more useful than the drills in this book. I was thoroughly disappointed after reading through it the first time. I put the book on the shelf and a few months later returned to it for assistance in changing around my solo training and was disappointed again.
not quite what I expected.......2007-01-16
I bought the books hoping to learn something, it was to basic. Not enough detailed pictures or instruction.
great follow-up to Solo Training.......2006-07-07
I loved Christensen's first book Solo Training and was not disappointed withthis one. He shows a lot of ways to make your techniques faster and stronger and how to use them in different situations.
I especially liked how he showed how to pantomine grappling techniques. He would do part of a move in the air and then show the same part of the move on a real person. He would do it that way for three or four steps until his invisible opponent and his real opponent were on the ground. This was real helpful to me because I didn't know you can practice jujitsu by yourself.
As always, Christensen gives you lots of stuff for your money. Over 300 pages with hundreds of training ideas.
I liked his Solo Training DVD, too.

Average Sweet Valley book.......2002-05-27
This book is about Michael (remember the whole Michael/Maria engagement story? This is the same guy) who is now dating a girl named April (who I don't remember from any other book.)Michael is obsessed with racing, and although April likes it as well, she'd like to do other things like go to the movies some time. Michael also hates a guy named Artie, who used to be his best friend, and is now his sworn enemy. So when April and Artie start hanging out, Michael is beyond [angry]. April decides to find out what started the feud to begin with. This is an okay book.
It was touching.......1999-07-26
It was a touching book. I'm glad that she tried to figure out what brought the two friends apart.
