The text itself is fairly understandable, current and consistant. The problems are mostly with the exercises, problems and on-line supplements and quizes, especially for the government and to a lesser extent, the non-profit accounting chapters. Not all of the wordings and answers in these areas have been updated to the current GASB 34 and 35 statements that the text is teaching to. This is a difficult topic to begin with and having these conflicts makes it that much more difficult to grasp the material correctly.

Having studied under another book on the same subject, I'm able to appreciate how well this book is written. It makes the seemingly impossible to understand not only doable but almost fun, by including plenty of illustrations in a straightforward format as well as real-life boxes on current events.
The Excel tutorials made learning even easier when I got stuck occasionally on a particularly difficult concept.

This text is absolutely horrible. This book is a throwback to the textbooks of the 70's. Incredibly boring and very poor examples. The accompanying study guide is a complete joke and not worth the money. This book is loaded with errors. If you have problems going to sleep, then read this text. No color, no diagrams just plain text like the olden day books. Not a good book for learning.

Great, great, great first read for beginner tri-athletes of all ages, shapes and sizes. I've already recommended this book to several of my friends. Jayne Williams is hilarious. She gives practical advice, but keeps you laughing from beginning to end. I plan to do my first triathlon in the Spring of '08, after reading this book, I now believe I can do it!

I'm not quite new to the athletic world... still, I found Slow Fat Triathlete impossible to put down. In a very unusual twist for books like these, it is wildly entertaining with its conversational style and humorous slant.
When you finish this, you'll feel like you can take on the world-- and certainly, the triathlon.

This book is amazing! Very motivating, helpful advice, let's you know that triathletes are not perfect Greek Gods. I love all of her little anicdotes and race day diaries. I have never felt so capable of accomplishing something in my life. This book is real and down to earth. Lots of help about finding equipment that will suit you. I have always been a nervous cyclist. I am scared to death of those skinny-tired death traps they call road bikes. This book let me know that bikes of all sorts are welcome in triathlons, especially if you're in it to finish, not just in it to win it. Maybe one day I will get over my fear of road bikes, until then Mountain-bike hybrid it is.
Buy this Book!! It rocks. Especially for normal everyday women.

Glossy but frustrating guidebook.......2001-08-31
This guide looks attractive, but is of little use to the first-time traveller to Brittany. The layout is frustrating and the most important information is too brief. Take beaches for example (with 3 coasts to choose from, most families would like to know where the best beaches are, which are safe for young families, whether they are sand or pebble, etc.) or the province's many wonderful historic castles and monuments, many of which are only given a cursory mention.
Space is taken up instead with an over-flowery text, which too obviously reads as translated French. We came back frustrated that we had probably missed many great places!

This is my first Jacqueline Woodson book and I really liked it ! the story made me cry at some points but I laughed at others it was a very good story though the dialogue was hard to understand but then I realized it is very easy to understand towards the end !!! If you like books that are realistic fiction this is the book for you !!!!!
Twists on Concepts.......2007-02-23
Marie is a popular and well dressed black girl living a good life alone with her father. Her mother left years earlier to experience life and to find herself. She only corresponds by postcards sent from locations around the world.
Lena is a sad and very poor white girl who moves into town in the middle of the school year. Marie is asked to show her around a bit. Marie is shocked to find that she actually likes Lena, even though her best friends make fun of and shun the poor girl. Lena also has no mother; her mother died of breast cancer, leaving Lena and her little sister alone with their father.
In spite of herself, Marie finds herself drawn to Lena. She overcomes the prejudices her father has planted in her about white people, and she overcomes the ridicule of her friends in order to become close to this new girl who so desperately needs her friendship. But then Lena tells Marie a terrible secret, and Marie must decide whether to keep it or not.
This book has a couple of interesting twists--first, a girl living with her single father, when it is more common for the mother to be the single parent in stories. The reversal of racism was also intersting, with the black characters looking down on the white characters. I liked the evolution of Marie, as she became more confident and realized she didn't need her old friends.
I didn't like that Lena's situation was never portrayed as a crisis. The girls should have known that something should have been done, and Marie should have known better than to keep Lena's secret.
I Definitely Meant To Tell You This..........2006-05-18
This book was very well written. I enjoyed all aspects of this book. It had its parts that would make me cry, and its parts that would make me laugh, but the whole story was intriguing. The way the author wrote it so that each individual character had their own way of speaking and their own unique dialect made it easier to relate to one or more of the characters. I found myself sympathizing with all the characters at very different times. I felt as though the girls' father was no only a bad man, but one who made excuses for the cruel and inhumane things that he did to his own children. If I were the main characters friend, I would probably have asked someone for help, or gotten help for them myself. One other thing I liked about the book was the fact that neither of the girls had mothers. This shows very well that it doesn't matter the color of your skin or the amount of money in your pocket, all people are equal and can have the same problem or conflict, but each person has their own way to deal with it.

I Hadn't Meant to Tell You This is a very honest and touching book. In this piece of literature a black girl in Chauncey, Ohio named Marie meets a white girl named Lena. When Lena moves to Ohio and goes to Marie's school. When Lena tells Maria a shocking secret, Marie tries to ignore reality and can't face the truth until she loses who makes her remember. She remembers in the end that no one is born with a perfect life...just like her.
This book is very good and once you start reading you feel like you can't stop. It faces issues that people try to neglect everyday. Such as racism, abuse, and other domestic problems. An example of this is when Marie's friend, Sherry, and Marie's father call Lena "white trash", because she isn't as wealthy as the [black] people in her neighborhood.

I think this book is pretty involved and 4th graders wouldn't really understand it. I hate the fact that everyone's saying that they shouldn't have run away; Marie should've told someone. I mean, although that would be the smarter choice, these are kids and in real life that's what many kids do. I think this book should've taken place in some other place because you can guess that in Ohio there are more white people than black. I think this book covered the issue of racism well, but Woodson could've spoken more about the kid's feelings and other alternatives Lena might've considered...
