Book Description
Designed to assist practitioners in developing interview procedures for their organizations, this work shows how competence-based human resource management techniques can be applied to employment interviews. Research has shown that the traditional interview does not predict employment success as well as the structured interview, while the structured interview is also the method of choice to ensure a fair and nondiscriminatory hiring process. Leading the practitioner through the three-step interview process--preparation, interviewing techniques, and evaluation of applicants--this guide provides sample questions, a case study, and forms to help the reader conduct successful structured interviews. Also included is a chapter on issues related to equal opportunity employment and a comprehensive review of the literature on structured interviewing.

The guidebook on this topic, concise edition.......2000-07-26
This is a professional work. Competence-based employment interviewing (CBEI) is briefly but fully defined, summarized, detailed for practical appications. CBEI seemed to be somewhat puzzed and perhaps a kind of management fads before I found this book. Dr Berman proposes significant relationship between employees' competence and their after-hired attitudes and bahaviours, and applicable guidelines and methods of assessing competence in interviewing. I was motivated to sctuitinise practical value of CBEI after reading through this book, and now I am recommending my clients (I'm a part-time consultant) to try CBEI. They usually say, "Wow, CBEI is THAT easy and useful." Thank you very much, Dr Berman.

A superbly written and organized instruction manual for judging entrees of any and all breeds of dogs .......2006-08-09
A seasoned and experienced all-breed judge and past Chariman of the Board of the American Kennel Club, Robert Berndt also draws upon his many years of experience as a dog handler in "Judging Dogs: Science And Technique", a superbly written and organized instruction manual for judging entrees of any and all breeds of dogs either in general or in specialized dog shows and competitions. Properly judging dogs requires a detailed and accurate knowledge of breed Standards and type, as well as an expertise in canine anatomy, physiology, and topology. "Judging Dogs: Science And Technique" is an ideal and substantial 276-page, step-by-step, illustrated introduction for the novice judge, and has a great deal of value to offer even the more experienced judges. "Judging Dogs: Science And Technique" is also a critically important reference for anyone entering their dog into competition so they, as a dog owner and/or handler, will know what to expect and prepare for.

Vintage adorable bird book!.......2006-11-13
This is such a charmer, with old-fashioned prints of the original show-type ideal birds, and tons of personal experience raising and breeding Canaries, etc. Says it includes: Parakeets, Love Birds, Finches, Parrots, Mules and Hybrids. Also has dozens of more, such as various finches, and even wild birds like the goldfinch. This has old-time breeder advice that you can't learn overnight! There is quite a lot of info and sometimes anecdotes on each page.
Very rare. Isn't the cover great? Great deal, recommended.

Still one of the best ever published........1999-03-17
Although this book was published some time ago, it is still hard to beat when it comes to useful information on keeping canaries. It is a comprehensive work which includes material on type, color, and song canaries. The author is an expert who has been involved in the re-establishment of some of the old canary breeds in Britain.

Book Description
A unique program of yoga for riders that cultivates both mental and physical flexibility and balance--vital keys to achieving harmony between horse and human. Profusely illustrated with color photos and drawings.
Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2007-07-30
There is wisdom in stretching and relaxing before working with your horse. If you are upset or tense, your horse can sense it and can make for a difficult or really bad work session. My instructor always says "To end on a good note". My mare is particularly sensitive to my moods and would react based on my body language. I had a problem relieving the tension in my lower back due to an injury and my mare could feel it in my seat and legs.
I had picked up a few tips from other riders, but when I purchased the Linda's book, things seemed to click, from breathing to helping me ease the tension in my back. I would try a few exercises before I mounted and while I was mounted. My mare was more relaxed. I think that this book (and video) helped.
I recommend getting the book and the video. The book is great with photos and more in-depth instruction of technique and postures. It is recommended that if you are new to yoga, like myself, that you read the first few chapters before attempting the postures. The video is helpful for those who wish to work with voice instruction and movement instead of flipping through pages and trying to execute what they've just read.
Great Book!.......2005-08-16
As an avid rider for many years, I found this book very helpful. I have a problem with riding "crooked" because of a rotated pelvis. My unevenness has become more noticeable in the years that I have been riding without an instructor. This book helps you become aware of your body and what you are doing with it. Highly recommended (even if you don't do much yoga -- I don't, but this was just my speed!)
Weekend riders need this book.......2004-03-12
I have waited a long time to buy this book, and now that I finally have it I wish I'd bought it sooner. It has great explanations of how yoga connects with horseback riding. The exercises range from stretching techniques to easy muscle toning for primary riding areas, like the glutes. The stretching exercises are a great way to relax before going to bed. If you're a "weekend" rider and would like a way to work a little bit on your toning and balance between rides, this is the book. Don't let the yoga part turn you off. It's great!
Yoga for Equestrians - works.......2002-11-15
My daughter and I traveled from Central New York to W. Springfield, Mass Nov. 9, 2002 to attend Equine Affaire. There were many workshops and presentations. Linda Benedik was one that we decided we would both enjoy. She demonstrated many of the yoga positions and had us all doing them with her. My daughter is an avid rider, I however just enjoy horses. At 52 I found the yoga made me feel so much more relaxed that I feel it would benefit everyone whether you are a horse person or not. I can not rate the book as I just got it and haven't had the opportunity to read it all yet but if it is 1/10th as good as the workshop you'll need more than 5 stars. If you ever have the opportunity to see and hear Linda Benedik in person - you'll find it well worth while.
Connie
A must read.......2001-10-02
This book is excellent. The text is straight-forward and easy to follow, as are the exercises -- amply illustrated. I found just doing a twenty minute routine from this book daily has already helped with suppleness, flexibility and relaxation. If you enjoyed Sally Swift's Centered Riding, then you'll find this a very complimentary read. If fact Swift garners a few mentions along the way. You can't go far in riding if you're tense or inflexible, and this book has lots of ways to counter both those problems. I highly recommend it.

Customer Reviews:
Great Series - Out of Date Book.......2006-03-14
I've used these books in the past for most of my travels and have been very pleased. During a previous trip to Rome, I used an earlier edition Access Rome book as my Bible. It was extremly informative and useful. Unfortunately, since then they have changed the design of the maps and have not updated the book accurately. Many of the places I tried to visit had been long gone, inaccurately positioned on the map, or the descriptions were not appropriate. Unless they changed these items for the 8th edition, I would warn against using this book as a primary source of information. Also, the maps did not incorporate the locations of the Metro stops and Taxi stands into the neighborhood maps, like other travel guides have, which I found to be a neccessity for travel around Roma.
Good approach and pleasant, but needs updating.......2004-02-13
Neighbourhood-focused approach is a pleasure, and color-coding works fine too, but they need to update the book more thoroughly (I know it costs money, but it should not be an excuse, they charge good money for the book).
Text is very readable and visually relaxing; while sparing use of colour illustration and old-fashioned drawings are pleasing in a strange way. Descriptions and background are a bit lightweight, but overall this is a pleasant book - perhaps as the second guide, to compliment Fodor's or Frommers.
Make sure you check addresses and hours before you go.......2003-12-13
These books are always really well-organized by neighborhood, but this new edition is riddled with errors. They still describe things in Lira even though they tell you Italy has converted to the Euro and information on many stores, sites and hotels is incorrect, especially hours. We went to many churches that were closed. Some stores no longer even exist. Also, lots of missing information, particularly on new hotels. Use this book for it's useful maps and reviews, but check addresses and hours carefully before you go anywhere.
Like getting recommendations from a friend.......2000-03-21
I've used various Access travel guides and find them to be consistently witty and on-track. I like being able to focus on a neighborhood, and see what restaurants are near the attraction I'm visiting. The color-coding (red print for restaurants, blue for hotels, black for sights) makes it particularly easy to scan for an entry. Although there aren't extensive hotel listings, the information provided is useful to determine what area I'd like to stay in. You may need more detailed maps than those in the book, however.
Book Description
From the journal of Chloe Murphy:
The most popular guy at SVU is finally mine--for real this time!
But he's making me keep it a secret.
Hello?
What's the point of dating Tom Watts if no one knows about it?
Customer Reviews:
Chloe dates her dream man,Tom Watts!.......2005-03-23
In her diary,It is Christmastime and Her snotty room mates call her Cody, because Tom left an Answering machine when she and Tom first met, instead of calling her Chloe,He calls her Cody, now her snotty room mates are making fun of her. Tom wants Chole to keep their love a secret. Choloe doesn't.
what happened?.......2002-01-06
Aarrgh. What happened to the series I used to like? I am really sick of these "secret journal books". Did the whole SVU series just go away? And why did "Elizabeth" stop after the big reunion scene in #6? Anyway, Chloe's book was the worst of the lot. Totally unreal, totally stupid, too much makeup. And, all my local retailers stopped updating their Senior Year collections after #33. The entire world of SV is in disarray.
Dull, Dull, Dull..........2001-09-04
I have no idea what has happened to the SVU series and I don't know whether this pale imitation of what once used to be a great and interesting series is a joke or whether Francine and Laurie John (if that is a real person and not just a group of really bad writers who once used to be good) are torturing us by attempting to make the series 'hip'.
I mean, what is with the popular culture references every five seconds?? I knew I was going to hate the book just from looking at its front cover - that model looks like she belongs in a circus - that awful make-up makes her look like a clown.
Anyway, I decided to give the book a chance but, just from reading the opening page in which it was filled with dreadful pop culture references to 'cool' and 'It-girl' actresses such as Neve Campbell, Angelina Jolie and some others - I knew this book was going downhill.
Okay, I understand Francine wants to update all the series for the 21st Century but, that doesn't mean that she needs to turn each book into a 200-300 page advertisement for hair products, movie magazines, clothes stores, etc.
Also, what has happened to the characters - Denise, Winston, Isabella (bring her back!), Lila, Bruce, Nick (Jess + Nick = perfect couple) and many others. I'd rather Francine develop the old characters rather than introducing new ones just because she cannot be bothered to create more storylines for the old and more INTERESTING characters.
The new characters are one-dimensional and simply pale imitations of previous ones. Chloe = Lila, Val = Denise, Martin = Winston and so on.
[...]
Let's hope she takes notice of what fans have to say.
Avoid this stinker at all costs - it's not even a proper SVU book - just a poor man's version.
AWESOME BOOK!.......2001-06-21
I think this was a really good book. It's so realistic, and young people can relate to it easily. I couldn't put the book down, it was so good. I read the whole book in a matter of hours.
Secret Love Diaries: Chloe -- a review.......2001-04-28
I bought and read all these diaries; this was the last of the series. First of all, most of the scenes are repeats of the Jessica diary. Secondly, almost every other sentence has the author promoting some designer clothing, makeup, or shoes...not that fashion isn't part of Sweet Valley, but with Chloe's books especially it seems like the whole book is an ad! Lacking plot follows Chloe when she is again chasing an uninterested (long-lasting serious interest) man...and ending in the same manner as the last numbered SVU book before the diaries.
