Yep, indeed I have read a good portion of this 2 volume set. Now under normal circumstances I'd advise not operating heavy machinery or driving a car after some serious FASBY reading. However, when you're trying to crank out some financials and you've got a real problem with how to allocate periodic costs or how to present the loss from discontinued operations, these babies become your best friends! a good resource to help you narrow down your internew job search effectively

Great Resource Book.......2000-10-19

As Career Planning Host for bellaonline.com, I was interested to read this book as part of my research for my series on the online job search. What I discovered was that it was not a book to "read" as much as a wonderful resource which would reduce my internet research time by hours!

This is not a book of how to's - it has a few sections discussing career planning and eresumes, but refers you to websites for more information. You can find information on how to write eresumes and submit online on my site, or all over the internet.

What this book DOES have is links - separated by position type, state, even country. The legwork is done for you - and it allows you to target your job search to whatever industry or area you want - look up the lists of links for your target, and submit from there.

I note, however, that because of the dynamics of the internet, that resources like this can never stay current. Admittedly, since publication, some websites have merged or gone, but from my research, the majority of them were current and easy to find.

A valuable resource for targetting your job search.

A great resource!.......2000-07-18

This is NOT a book on cyber resumes---there are whole tomes devoted to that topic. It IS a comprehensively researched listing of sites from the common to the highly specialized. I use this as a text in my graduate class to train counselors who work in one-stop career centers and in college placement offices. It's a great resource for sites and ideas on how to best use the Internet for finding a job: clear, concise and free of hype. Highly recommended.

Major disappointment.......1999-10-21

This is the first Amazon book I've ever returned, but I did so in a heartbeat. Despite the long list of online sites - as advertised - there was no useful information on preparing a resume for online submission, despite a whole "chapter" on the subject (6 pages, actually). There is not a single reference to the use of keywords in your resume, strategies for tailoring a resume for companies who insist on online / electronic submission, beyond the trivial "use an asterisk for a bullet"...

If you're only looking for sites to submit your resume to, I suppose this would be useful. But if you want guidance as to how to help your resume rise to the top of the electronic stack, this book is a waste of money.

I went to the library today to see if they had anything new. I've read about every book our small library has which pertains to gardening. Out of the corner of my eye I happened upon "Secrets to Great Soil." It looked interesting; I checked it out. I am now here at amazon.com to purchase this book. I've been organic gardening for 25 years and in all these many years have not found a book which thoroughly lists organic, inorganic, and synthetic fertilizers in a format which is easy to discern. It is easy to read for anyone, regardless the experience. Both novice and advanced gardeners will enjoy this journey of soil science along with the explanation. I am deeply moved by all the work which went into this highly recommended publication.

Easy Compost is a splendid introduction to the art of composting. Easy to read and loaded with useful photos, the book provides the reader with a sound understanding of the process and importance of composting, while not being overwhelming. In particular I found the chaapters on composting indoors and commercial composts quite useful. All in all, a good book.

Where in the world has this book been all my tennis life? A must-read book for the doubles player seeking to improve his/her game. Every chapter is valuable, every tip should be committed to memory and practiced on the court. Our whole team has ordered and is reading this book to improve our court positioning and strategy skills. And, it is not boring. Instead it is actually riveting. Some parts I had to read 2 or 3 times, just to make sure I fully understood the concept. Not because the writing was poor, but rather because the strategy was so eye opening and new to me that I wanted to make sure "I got it." I highlighted this book like a textbook and plan on rereading it many, many times.

Not for the beginning player, though. Must be at least at the intermediate level.

You get a feeling right away that this book isn't going to waste your time. There is real content on every page. I play on a mixed doubles USTA league but I found much of this to be things I didn't know, hadn't figured out and didn't hear from my partners. I particularly liked the way the author mixed psychological tips with court positioning and shot selection. The one reservation I have is that there is a lot here to remember. Still, there are good chapter summaries so once you get the gist of what she's saying you can go to the bullet points to refresh your memory.

This book is not for the beginner but for the intermediate player with come-to-net skills who wants to play SMART. Pat does a wonderful job in the book -- with humor and wit -- of getting you to understand the "beautiful dance" that is good doubles play. Most people who walk on a court with a partner to play a game of doubles play "singles" with a "helper." Pat clearly shows you how to work as a TEAM -- where to put the ball so that your partner is not hindered by your shot, but becomes more able to put the ball away for a winner. This is a stellar book for any enthusiastic and thinking tennis player. My copy is dog-eared from rereading.

Best Collection of Conventional Wisdom Clearly Stated.......2006-06-18

I did not see an original thought in the book, but that is not a negative. Pat has collected a consistent and complete book of conventional wisdom about tennis doubles strategy. She expresses it more clearly than I have seen anywhere, with excellent examples and illustrations. It is a book that you read on different levels as you master the art. I have loaned it out many times and will have to buy a third copy soon, because it tends not to come back.

Buy two and give one to your doubles partner, so you are reading out of the same hymnal. This is not a stroke production book, but a strategy book -- where to stand, where to go and what shot to hit.

Court Position - Shot Selection - Bible!!!.......2006-03-09

Excellant easy to read book on the mental decisions of Where should I be and towards where should I hit. Nothing on actual shot execution. I have bought over 10 copies and some seasons we actually use each chapter as the text for each weeks training/lessons.

If you want to get better by playing smarter doubles - this is it. I have over 20 tennis video's and this book is still the quickest way to improve your chances of winning a match.
