If Doestoevsky ever decided to stop writing about tortured souls and snow and religion and all that malarky and get to the real literary gold mine that is Financial Accounting and Reporting, he might have written this very book. It is a work of such delicate feeling and insightful, powerful prose it makes me weep when I finish each chapter. I love thi sman Nathan for writing this masterpiece.

I'm now using this book to build a corp. culture for the second time. I buy a copy for every employee. I know they don't all read it. But, we use it as the text for company meetings, training and performance expectations. Big help in getting people to take more responsibility for our success as a company.

enjoyed the book.......2007-09-30

normally I am a cynical employee and our company is going into this hot and heavy. I figured that for once I should read about something before I talk bad about another fad. I read it cover to cover with a open mind and I agree with what it is pushing and I hope that my company really tries to follow the example.

Sadly, I do not see this taking hold where I work as the "CYA" principal will never go away and that is a shame.

I guess i can understand the purpose of the material. However, it all seems to be common sense to a recent college grad who had to do any teamwork. I would find books on "treating women equal" just as useful. The concept is outdated, these things are already being taken care of in society.

I could not have been more disappointed in a supposedly useful business book. The entire book consisted of assertions on how "accountability" leads to better results, without a single empirical example to support it. Rather, there were plenty of quotes from Jack Welch (he who had 5 good years out of 20 at the top) and anecdotal stories linked to the Wizard of Oz. How dumbed down has business press gotten? What's next, management according to "Go Dog Go"? It was just bloody awful

I listened to the tape and used the book as documentation of the most important parts. It worked really well as a study method.

The authors began their pioneering work in this field in the 1960s by challenging the then popular ice grain theory.
Most controversially they later hypothesised that condensed organic matter in the galaxy is of biological origin, thus linking an old astronomical problem with the question of the origin of terrestrial life.
In this book the authors develop the theory of Cosmic Grains on a broad front starting logically from basic mathematical and astronomical premises. The reader is guided through a historical progression of ideas on the nature of grains, leading ultimately to the authors' own point of view, which shows through a clear predictive sequence the important role of complex organic material in the interstellar grains.

I found this book "by chance" while searching through websites for an organization that promotes the idea of furthering human spiritual evolution through actions of respect,compassion and cooperation for and between all living beings.

The book gave me some foundation for my ideal, but (probably due to his profession) the author's style is wordy and, sometimes, over-thoughty. I do recommend it as valuable to people who understand and celebrate the connections of the human-animal-plant kingdoms, but with the caution that it is a demanding read.

Being new to the whole fitness area, this book is a god-send. I have been quite pleased...it's helping me to train for the 10k portion of a local marathon that my relay team is participating in. I know that by following the guidelines and training schedule, I will be prepared and will not push myself too far and risk injury.

Great Book for Runners and Walkers.......2006-05-24

I have read at least six different "ultimate guides to marathon training" before I came across this book. It is the best of the group. Dave explains not only what marathoners should do, but also why it is done. He does it in easily understandable and entertaining words. The book is both informative and a joy to read. While the book was written for walkers, much of the informations applies to runners as well.

If You Doubt You Can Do It, READ THIS BOOK!.......2004-05-07

If you have any doubts about whether or not YOU can walk a marathon, read this wonderfully inspirational book by Dave and your doubts will vanish. Dave is an excellent writer as well as an excellent coach. There is so much of value in here that you'll be able to benefit hugely even if you have walked a marathon before. I've just let a friend borrow my copy and he told me he has already got some ideas for his next marathon, and he's walked 11 of them before!!!

An Absolute Must For Marathon Walkers!!.......2003-01-15

I read and reread this book several times during the 5 months of training for my first ever marathon. I completed the Disney Marathon 2 days ago and put Dave McGovern's training tips to the test. I can tell you they are tried and true!!! I never once felt like I was going to hit the wall, was injury free and had alot of fun.

This book is full of info on buying shoes, stretching, nutrition, race day strategies, training schedules, what to do before, during and after the marathon and lots of laughs. There are also testamonies from marathon walkers as well as lots of info about walker friendly marathons nationwide. His writing style is so personable and warm you almost feel like you're having a conversation with him. As far as I'm concerned he's my coach. I wouldn't even consider letting go of my copy.
