This publication brings together two groups of papers under two headings. The first group of papers are under the heading 'Energetic Spectra and Charge Composition of Galactic Cosmic Rays above 10 eV: Implications for the Origin and Acceleration limit of Galactic Cosmic Rays'. This session contains 4 papers on the 'knee' region of the cosmic ray spectrum near 1PeV energies. The session has some discussion of proposed instruments to investigate this region and other theoretical papers which investigate the generation and transport of these particles in our galaxy. The second group of papers are under the heading 'Cosmic Ray Composition Studies at Solar Minimum'. This session contains 18 papers providing results relating to experiments flown during the latest solar minimum. Areas covered include new Observations of Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs), new Ulysses measurements of GCR spectra outside the ecliptic plane, several theoretical studies, new observations of Anomalous Cosmic Ray (ACR) from two spacecraft, and description of an alternative approach to simulation of ACR transport in the heliosphere.

The techniques for establishing and maintaining invertebrate tissues and cells in culture remain difficult due to the diversity of invertebrates and their structural and physiological characteristics. Research involving invertebrate cell cultures continues to increase, although the number of cell lines used is still limited. This manual gives detailed descriptions of the technical procedures for the establishment of primary invertebrate cell cultures in vitro. Nutritional requirements, culture media, and species-specific methods for both cell and organ cultures as well as useful techniques for studies on cultured cells are described. The Appendix lists established cell lines available for research with information on the composition of their physiological and nutrient solutions. This comprehensive manual, the first of its kind, is a valuable reference for investigators working with invertebrate cell cultures in academia and industry.

This book is entertaining if you're an Eagles fan. It revolves around a select few rabid fans. If you're a resident of Philly or surrounding suburbs, you'll understand the undying loyalty, and appreciate the history surrounding the team and the city.

A Great Read about a city Gone Crazy.......2005-10-28

There are certain sports teams that come to mind as having a set of fans that transcendeth all understanding. The 'Cubbies' from Chicago come to mind. And Brooklyn, don't forget Brooklyn who agreed with the newspaper that the three most evil men of the 20th century were "Hitler, Stalin, and Walter O'Malley." O'Malley moved the "Boys of Summer" to Los Angeles.

Philly, on the other hand stands out as a city that has four professional teams, a tremendous collection of fans, and a football team that hasn't won a title in 45 years. Suddenly they stood a chance. The Eagles stood a chance and Philadelphia went crazy.

This is the story of the Philly fans and their magical year that in the end ran out of pixie dust. It's a great read. It also fits in very well with the book 'Next Man Up,' even though that book is on the Ravens.

An absolute must-read for any lifetime Philly fan. Especially, since I'm 2,500 miles away for 16yrs. I can still hear the curses at the Vet, smell the beer on the Spectrum concourse, and feel the anxiety of impending doom. The Bay Area is a wonderful place to live, but is a joke when it comes to true team passion. May a Stanley Cup, World Series victory, and Super Bowl triumph be in the cards for the suffering Phanatics.

Excellent!.......2007-02-14

I am going to Paris in a few weeks and need a small book to carry around. I found this book and it is fab!
I have tabbed off the important details, like how to get a taxi and how to order vegitarian food. It also features a great 2 way dictionary. I look forward to using this handy book in Paris!

easy to hear audio but hard to follow along with book.......2006-08-20

i was debating between this book and In-Flight and ended up getting both. good thing bc In-Flight audio was terrible, but the companion book was done very well. completely opposite, the Lonely Planet's audio is great - they say the word/phrase twice and slowly, but the books it comes with aren't so great. the companion pamphlet has the follow-along to the CD but does not help with pronounciation. it does come with a pretty big to-go book, about 300 pages worth of French lessons, words, phrases - everything. a bit too much for a beginner.
the audio is good, but don't expect to pop it in the cd player and be on your way.

my memory of this book..........2000-04-06

When I was about 11 years old, I began my love of reading with the Tom Swift books. These stories of a genius inventor, and his sci-fi adventures, are exactly what is needed to pull any boy into the world of his own imagination. Not only are these books entertaining, but they are also educational. In the "Cyborg kick boxer", Tom Swift invents a device that renders the kick boxer virtually invincible. Although one might attribute violence to the word kick-boxing, this story deals with how to control ones aggression and rise above the temptation to use the device for bad. I highly recommend this book to any one with children, or who is just plain looking for a cool story.
